The fact that this video could even be remotely disliked literally didn't even cross my mind until i saw people complaining in the comments.. people are so dumb when they don't get EXACTLY what they want. Can vouch for the Bamboo GT. I have the AT and street wheels and its acceleration is crazy. The amount of speed you get going up a big hill is an awesome feeling. I agree with the voltage sag, bit annoying. I believe that the street wheels make the board small enough if youre not a short shit.

Great video! I love the diversity (though I hope you guys don't forget about cases, computer peripherals, etc. that made me subscribe to the channel). A slight thing that you could perhaps improve: more shots of the products (to be honest I do not care much for looking at the guy speaking) and perhaps include more of the boosted board since you keep referring to it?

While I disliked the video because of the negative points made, it was very informative. I just purchased the Evolve Bamboo GT 2 in 1 and before that, the Verreal V1(which I'm still waiting on). You don't walk into a car dealer and buy a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood or a 2018 Prius or a 2019 Corvette and expect the same performance. While all have their strong points, you have to know what you're getting. I've seen plenty of reviews of the Verreal V1 and also the Evolve Bamboo and Carbon GT. I personally like the natural look of the boards even though the V1 is completely covered in grip tape you can still see the laminations from the side. I'm not an avid board rider but I plan to ride more. I might do a video review of these night and day boards but i think Andrew Penman has done that by accident. Check him out. Great guy and very fair and informative.

I'm personally very curious to see reviews of other boards since boosted is overpriced. Been a longboarder for a while so motors, top speeds, battery life, weight, price and safety features will all have to improve before I would consider buying one. I mean, I can push at least 15 mph on flat ground without a too much effort and while it would be cool to power up hills and accelerate faster in general, that's not really worth $1000+ to me. Maybe longboarders would be more interested in lighter versions that just provided some assistance and were really good at regenerative braking so you wouldn't have to be charging it so often and if you ran out of power it would still be light enough to push effectively?
@trentbosnic
@trentbosnic 7 лет назад
I can push at about 15mph too, but only do it for 5-6 miles on my commute, anything more than that I'd rather take a bus/train/car. I just bought an Evolve because of a knee injury, but now I'll be able to commute up to 30 miles with a top speed of 27mph - I think that's worth the price because I can sell my car now and use the Evolve for everything, or just catch a bus if it rains.
@electricmonk500
@electricmonk500 7 лет назад
Nothing Never really thought of one of these as a replacement for a car. If you've got a 5 mile commute this could be a really good use case, though then I think a bike would probably end up faster and more practical, but not more fun! Might also excel over a bike if you were using a lot of sidewalks, alleyways, etc. since I expect it would be more agile and you could pick it up and get around more difficult obstacles and hop back on the board in seconds. My other question would be how long these things tend to last if you really thrash the motors/battery vs play it safe most of the time.
@trentbosnic
@trentbosnic 7 лет назад
Absolutely, I don't think they should be compared to traditional skateboards as they are more of a transport method that happens to be really fun. I haven't received mine yet, but I'm certain they are faster than cycling too - the top speed is 27mph, and I just looked up the average Tour De France average winner speed which is 25mph. So the fastest cyclists in the world still average a slower speed than the Evolve GT, especially up hills, and the skateboard is more practical because you can pick it up and carry it around anywhere. I think they last pretty well if you thrash them, from what I've seen a lot of people have been using them for 12 months with no issues, but the motors are actually cheap to replace ($60 on Ebay), and the batteries aren't too expensive to replace either.

@Supaslicer
@Supaslicer 7 лет назад
I kind of want to hear his thoughts on boosted now... I mean any long board has the same issue of being long... But they are all meant for travel more than anything, with larger wheels and tighter lean turning... But all long boards are "wonky" once you reach your destination.. Even motorless.. I have a boosted v2 and an old sector 9 long board.. Aside from weight added on the boosted.. It's all the same issues.. But I have 0 issues just grabbing the front trucks and walking around stores.. So its kind of a silly point to make AND as for the clear grip tape.. Most bamboo longboards I have seen rock clear grip tape, and unless the evolve is done poorly with tons of air bubbles, I don't see an issue here either.. AND as for distance vs batter power.. Yiu can travel about 5-6 miles on half charge.. Meaning the power losses don't occur for a long time, and I usually travel maybe 4 miles max per ride on my boosted So I dunno about this review... I feel it needs to be pinned against the reality of another board like the boosted to see the actual pros and cons

There's something that I'm wondering that wasn't mentioned in the video: Can you slide on the AT wheels? It's a pretty big deal, because braking at high speeds becomes impossible otherwise.
@AidanFryer
@AidanFryer 7 лет назад
The board has regenerative braking built in, so you don't need to slide. You can slide the AT wheels on grass and dirt but no, you can't on pavement. You can slide the other wheels on pavement which I've done a little, but you can't wear slide gloves when riding it and operating the remote so you're limited to standups which aren't great on these wheels and deck.
@ruhtraeel
@ruhtraeel 7 лет назад

Yeah, you can switch between the 83mm street wheels and the AT wheels, it takes about 15 minutes. You can also get one or two other sets of wheels, the ABEC Flywheels in 97mm fit from memory and I think Evolve sells some 97mm wheels now as well.

@AidanFryer 7 лет назад
I've done a fair bit of longboarding, I own a Rayne Darkside, Comet TMKF and have had a couple of other boards. What complaints do you think would be dashed?
@meekpigeon
@meekpigeon 7 лет назад
Aidan Fryer personally I like the clear grip tape it kinda shows off the board more and I also prefer dual kingpins because it feels much more like a snowboard, and portability wise I can understand your point but if you're going to use it as a daily form of transportation you would have a backpack with skate straps
@AidanFryer
@AidanFryer 7 лет назад
Clear griptape is subjective and I'll give you that, but the issue I have is that it is less grippy generally and get's dirty easily. As for the dual kingpin trucks that's also somewhat subjective, but when a board goes to higher speeds having better single kingpin trucks is an advantage for stability if nothing else. And you won't be able to put this in backpack straps as it's way too heavy.

Ok I think I've figured the problem with youtube channels introducing new people. I don't mind seeing someone new people on a channel but I get it, when you throw them in from outta nowhere it's just a bit odd, especially when were expecting the people we've seen so far. It would atleast be cool to introduce the person in an introduction video beforehand and let your viewers know that they'll be appearing in some videos beforehand, that way it's not such a big surprise for those people that get irritated seeing a new face on the channel. Again, I don't mind it, seeing a new face is cool, but for those that don't it would be a smart way to ease them into it. Anyways, cool video. Refreshing to see some different content every now and then.

Not sure how you can rip the AT wheels and say there's a lack of usability. The whole point to the large tires is so you can ride on different surfaces and that speaks to usability as it allows for much more. Also all long boards are going to be a pain to carry so don't think that should be a negative. It's like getting the iPhone x and then complaining it's too big, maybe get a smaller phone but then don't knock that for being smaller with a smaller screen. That said I did enjoy the review and am tossed between this and the boosted

I woke up the next day and my legs felt like I'd been trying to squeeze a fat Donkey to death. Maybe electric is the future. Not sure if I missed it but did he mention what the boards like to push when the battery runs flat, Is it still usable albeit with a bit more resistance?

Glad you liked it. I actually didn't mention it, but you can push it around a bit but there's a fair bit of resistance. If you're fairly close to home then it's usable, but it's not something I'd be wanting to do for more than 10 minutes.
