The 'Perfect' Pizza Crust Recipe for about $1.50!

Ok, I admit it... I'm a bit of a Pizza Snob. I really dislike the cheap pizza that comes from 'huts', and from the little dude with a toga - but I'm also too cheap to pay for a 'gourmet' pizza made by a 'knight' who claims that his 'table is round' (if you catch my drift).
So every now and then, when we crave a good pizza, we make it ourselves. It's a simple recipe, and the cost for this 'perfect pizza crust' is only about $1.50 with maybe another $2 for the sauce and cheese topping. And in my book, you can't beat the taste or the cost!

So far I've tried several other so called "perfect" pizza crust recipes, and yours by FAR has turned out perfect for me everytime! My family loves this recipe, and Im going to add this to my recipe collection. Thanks for putting up the video, oh, Im so glad this can be made in the Food Processor as clean up is a breeze, and so much faster too!

@wpc1013 Thanks for the comment. All of our water is filtered, but it really is best to take filtered water and warm it up in the microwave (one of the very few things I use the microwave for). Just be sure not to overheat the water, otherwise you will kill the yeast. God Bless! ~Erika

@twagz1427 - Thank you! You are exactly right!!! You must pre-heat the baking stone in order for the pizza crust to turn out 'perfect'... I got my baking stone on sale from Pampered Chef and absolutely love it. It really has changed the way my crust turns out - but it must be preheated! Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~ Erika

Thanks for the feedback... There is now an annotation at the start of the video that let's you skip right to the recipe. This was one of my really old videos and I was trying to share my enthusiasm for a balance between eating healthy & letting yourself enjoy good ol' homemade pizza. Aside from my ramblings at the beginning, it really is a easy & perfect pizza crust recipe! =) God Bless! ~Erika

@nkr1695 Thanks for the comment! Sea salt is more natural because it is evaporated from the sea - table salt (or iodine salt) is mined and is often processed to remove trace minerals and iodine added (which naturally occurs in sea salt). Generally speaking, it will not affect the taste of the crust. I hope you like the crust! :) God Bless! ~ Erika

Great video - I love seeing how other people make theirs and always am looking to improve my own. You failed to mention anything about preheating the stone - it is so critical that the stone be preheated as well for even heat distribution.

@mommyray411 Tried it once in the standard 'wet' container - which worked, but was difficult to blend evenly due to stopping and starting the machine. I've been wanting to try it in my 'dry' container for a while - so I might just do that next time and let you know how it turns out. Otherwise, the food processor works great with consistent results. However, the food processor is never as easy to clean as my trusty VitaMix! =) Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~Erika

Great video. I'm trying the recipe from the Vitamix book using my new Vitamix 750. I was hoping that's what I would find you using to be sure I do everything ok but what the heck. I'll give it a shot.

I know how you feel - my hubby was raised on a small cattle ranch, so meat & potatoes were the norm! His transition to eating 'healthier' wasn't easy, but now he loves eating right! My blog & RU-vid site is dedicated to feeding a family like this. You can make delicious 'regular' food that even your fiance will eat without missing the junk. Coconut Flour is great, but it is not a substitute for regular flour in this recipe. Are you allergic to gluten? Hope this helps! God Bless! ~Erika

Hey! Just a little tip from baker to baker, I'd go check out Sourdoughs International for some way good sourdough starter. I got the San Francisco and OMG way good, came out great. Happy baking!

Thanks Arelis Maldonado-Ortiz It is easy & delicious... It's even easier clean-up if you have a stand mixer... which I got after I made this video. Just be sure to use the dough hook. Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika

I bake and make pizza often, you should never use hot water, it will kill the yeast. You do not need hot water to activate the yeast. A small amount of room-temperature or slightly warm water works best. Let it sit for a minute or two and then stir it with a spoon or a fork until the yeast is completely dissolved. It should be smooth and silky.

I enjoy your gluten free recipes. I noticed in this video you used hot water from your tap. It is never recommended to use hot water for consuming since hot water could leach lead from supply lines. So its better to heat up cold water from your tap, preferably filtered. Would love to see more paleo friendly recipes and more stuff for the vitamix. Do you have a vegetable soup that could be made in the vitamix? Cheers and keep the video's coming.

In all situations, drink or cook only with water that comes out of the tap cold. Water that comes out of the tap warm or hot can contain much higher levels of lead. Boiling this water will NOT reduce the amount of lead in your water. Google "hot tap water lead cdc" to see the Center for Disease Control warning about ingesting hot tap water.

Have you tried using your vita mix with the dry blade for this recipe? I was wondering how it would be in the VM
@dhkrescue
@dhkrescue 7 лет назад
In my humble opinion, I have tried the big 4 -VM, Ninja 1500, Cuisinart, and now the Kitchenaid and I must say-I am impressed! My VM jammed quite often, and I ended up selling it, and the Ninja and Cuisanart (because it was a pain to clean them!) I am amazed at the easy and storage of the Kitchenaid

Hi! Actually I have two great gluten free pizza crust recipes on my website - one vegan, one with eggs. Either of those will work beautifully with my gluten free flour mix. =) God bless! ~Erika

Buy a block, and shred it yourself. The kitchenaid processor will shred it in no time, and you won't have all the gross additives in preshredded cheese. Ciao!
