I've been making this same recipe excluding the bell peppers ( IAM allergic to) but adding marinated artichokes sliced and a little dill.

I got a trick for you chef. My grandmother used to put the hot, bitesized potatoes in a little bit of vegetable stock (i use chicken stock, it works as well). The hot potatoes will absorb the stock and they will taste incredible. But it's important to do that when they are hot. Let them cool down and go on with your own recipe. Sorry grandma for telling your secrets ;-)

How hot does it get there? We're suppose to have a high of 102 F. here.(Phoenix, Arizona) We had monsoons last night that cooled everything down a bit.

Love potato salad. YES, it's worth making it 1 to 2 days ahead of time because the dressing, onions and spice flavors will be absorbed into the potatoes during that time and the result is much better than having it the same day. Also, it provides the potatoes to get coldest as possible which is also part of the experience. Red onions and celery are key too plus you can add some thin sliced hard boiled eggs into the mix for more flavor. Some will decorate the salad with sliced hard boiled eggs on top with a sprinkle of smoked paprika. Love this side dish in summer time.

Hello my Friend! I love the way you explain that "if you don't like it, don't put it in". I have made so many different renditions of potato salad over the years, and discovered a recipe I absolutely love. Buttermilk is essential, as is the mayonnaise, sour cream and mustard. I've never used Lemon though, so I'm going to add that to this weekends potato salad. I usually use a vinegar for the sour, and a locally sourced honey. Wonderful tips on how to create delicious! I'm going to try replacing the vinegar with lemon juice in my recipe too! I had a 🤦‍♀️ moment when he said that, I don't care for the flavor of vinegar so only use just enough to balance the honey without actually tasting it. A hint of lemon in the background might be nice!

Almost a year since this video came out, but I made this recipe today. I didn't have any fresh basil, but I just got some very fresh spinach from the local youth farmer's market and I made a chiffonade from that, why not? Also, mine and my wife's family always added sliced hard boiled egg to potato salad as a tradition. So creamy and flavorful, It was so good, that's what we had for dinner by itself!

As much as I love your French, German, and Italian potato salads, this one I love the most. Well, I tell a little lie; I love the French one the most. But this was a hit last weekend at a family party. I made all four, and this one was completely devoured. So was the German one.

Today is Easter Sunday 2023. Traditionally, potato salad is served in our house for Easter dinner. It truly is AMAZING! My hubby said "I REALLY like this! My 101 year old mother- in-law made the most delicious potato salad. She told me the trick was to add the dressing to the still warm potatoes. The warmth brings out and blends the flavors of the celery, onion etc. If my potatoes are cooled after I mix everything I warm it ( not cook) in the microwave, a minute at a time until just warm, mix well and refrigerate. I'm gong to try Chef's recipe on the 4th as that is my birthday. Thank you Chef!

I have to make this. We are in Minnesota . When the warm weather hits its hot dogs and potato salad at the lake. My wife's late grand ma made the best potato salad in my opinion. You know Chef, I'm a Southerner who never thought of the diversity and simplicity of adding non traditional things to my potato salad. I was raised to believe the only thing in potato salad was mayonnaise, mustard, potatoes, sweet pickle relish, maybe hard boiled eggs , some salt pepper and paprika. However after watching this I will try to duplicate your recipe. Thanks for enlightening me!

Just made this yesterday at our family bbq and it went over big time, they literally scraped the bowl lol. Only difference is I used diced anise instead of celery for a twist and it added a certain “Je ne sais quoi” flavor to it! Thanks for the great side idea❤️ Oh and BTW, the Dukes tasted better than Cains or Hellmans normally does, I’m glad I got some more on Amazon because it’s not carried in the north east! My 2 Aunts and Uncle ran a deli for decades, potato salad was their specialty (along with Smithfield hams, but that's another story). Steamed potatoes in their jackets was the only way. The flavor stayed and was very forward. Because if you're eating a great potato salad, the potatoes are king.

You are so right about potato salad being too heavy. Everyone thinks it’s potatoes and mayonnaise but that’s far from it. Great video JP! That dressing is beautiful. The sweetness from the honey with the acidity of the lemon and buttermilk creates a great flavor profile! We’ll done!!

Perfect timing! I've been looking for a potato salad recipe, and, of course, you always come up with the BEST, Chef JP. And now that my grocer's sells bacon without sodium nitrate, I can even include the crispy bacon. Yum! Thanks!!

Chef Jean-Pierre's potato salad is fabulous, in part, because of the absolutely outstanding dressing. I love having boiled eggs, a bit of radish, and some paprika in my potato salad, so I made the recipe my own, by adding some. Amazing! Thank you.

Here, in Czechia, we are masters of potato salad. We eat it at Christmass, or Easter, with chicken cutlet, or schnitzel, fried carp... Every single family has their unique recipe. I saw versions with green apple, pickles, corn, etc, etc... But I need your version with that delicious crispy bacon! Thank you my Master for sharing with us! Take care and see you next time! 👍🏻♥️😎
