I have not counted calories nor macros in a decade and have not gained a pound. I also exercise 10 times less than I used to, and nobody believes that my 5-min workouts work Wellness is about balance and not obsessions. When you shift your mindset , you WILL never want to go back to obsessing about anything . Your life will literally change in many different ways. I have so much to say about it.

I started doing very simple workouts like wall push ups, squats, planks, and 3lb weights and my body has already changed and kicked into a better gear. I eat balanced now rather than trying to cut endless calories. ALSO kimchi has changed my life. My gut & hormonal health has transformed greatly from these very simple shifts. Whether it’s some jumping jacks or a walk, doing something is better than nothing. It’s been so simple yet very powerful. See it as a lifestyle and natural & easy for you. ✨

What you are now is the lifestyle you had chosen to live in the past, if you don’t like what you see now, change your life style ie the food you eat, the activities you do, the mindset you had, the relationship you had, the work you do etc…. Every single thing play a part in molding you into what you are today. What you want to achieve need similar lifestyle to sustain it, that’s why so many people cannot maintain because they don’t fix the root cause.
@ronart5852
@ronart5852 Год назад
Absolutely. And when you start moving forward, don't look back. A lot of those unhealthy relationships with work, people and bad habits are always nipping at your heels. If you are not moving forward, you are in your own way. One of the sadder things in life is that good habits are hard to maintain while bad habits are hard to break. But it is always best to break them so that they don’t break you.

I agree but also think we need to stop being so hard on ourselves/obsessing. I'm in my 40ies and never struggled with weight. My parents kept a massive bowl full of chocolate bars (fun sized) and candy in the middle of the dining table at all times. There were also always lots of seasonal fruits in the fridge. I was not told when/how much of what I was allowed to eat. Some days I felt like having sth sweet after lunch/dinner. Sometimes I craved fruit. Sometimes I didn't feel like having anything. I was never forced to finish my plate or have breakfast if I didn't feel like it. I was only weighed at the doctor's during checkups. I only ate large portions of meat during special occasions (maybe 1-2 times monthly) because it was expensive and "special" but had cold cuts almost daily. Long family walks in the forest on the weekends. I am doing the same with my daughter now. She picks apples and carrots on most days and 3-4 Oreos on other days. I see her peers who are "forbidden" to eat certain foods struggling with weight and excessively talking about fitness and body goals (in primary school!). Having said that I did briefly struggle with my body image as it didn't fit the heroin chic aesthetic (Kate Moss) of the 90ies. Luckily, I discovered Josie Maran, Alicia Silverstone and Salma Hayek who made me feel ok with looking healthy. Sorry for the rant.

The only time I was able to lose 40 lbs of over weight, I did it finally knowing that I loved me enough to care for myself. I had a partner at the time who never put me down. He would always tell me that I was beautiful the way I was but would love to help me work out. It was the most success I had becauae of the love vs the punishment I had inflicted on myself for years. I was finally able to see exercise and healthier lifestyle patterns as a positive.

I think many people miss the "why." I can't speak for everyone, but if you are morbidly obese, it's not always a hunger issue. It's mental or emotional. I got over 300lbs years ago and it had nothing to do with feeling hungry. I would binge eat and keep going even if I was full. I've taken a significant amount of weight off because I finally addressed why I was eating. I focused on what I felt when I binged, when I binged.. I addressed my emotional issues, I changed my relationship with food, I replaced bad habits with good habits, I found nutrition and exercise I can live with.

Only at the 25 minute mark but it is a great take-away for me about not being distracted while eating. I have made a habit of this, especially with my young children, 8 and 5, and the meals are more enjoyable in every way. Even when I am on business trips and eating in the room, I stop what I am doing and focus on enjoying my meal. The only thing that I will do is time my meals and video call my kids and enjoy with them. I stopped using the verb "try" when talking about a new place or a new food and replaced it with "enjoy". This is because I have changed my relationship with food, and I find myself enjoying more and eating less. And, I still enjoy some processed foods from time to time but I don't binge as much as I used to and I am fine with leaving some chips in the bag or fries on the plate. I also find myself enjoying a 24 to 36 hour fast from time to time and I write 24 to 36 because I am not focusing on getting through something but rather enjoying the wonderful feeling that I get. As long as I haven't eaten a bunch of junk before the fast, I feel hyper-energized around the `18 to 20 hour mark and have no cravings whatsoever. Peace, On to the next 35 minutes!

The question is, where do we draw the line for "whole foods" beyond meat, fruit, nuts, and vegetables? Does whole wheat pasta count? Oatmeal? Brown rice? Limited ingredient hummus? Whole grain bread? Peanut butter made from just peanuts? Cheese? If all of these count as whole foods, then it would be hard to eat as much as you want and automatically lose 600 calories a day.

It’s quite a workout. 😊❤☺️ I hope you all have fun figuring out what works best for YOU, trying new things, always learning & changing as you need to. There is always someone who comes out with "new" and "easier" ideas for well-being, but at the same time, adding up more complication to the equation. The root problem is, getting hooked up with the first negative thought that crosses your mind letting it spin in our heads over and over again, then you get a second one, then a third one and so on. Just ignore any first negative thought that comes to your head until it becomes a habit, and when I say negative thought is any thought that makes you feel bad. Remember that bad thoughts create bad emotions and bad emotions create bad thoughts. I am not telling you to be positive all the time, but to avoid getting trapped by bad and negative thoughts, the outcome will be a better version of yourself in any way. Cheers!

Isn't it okay to do cardio for the benefits of relieving stress? Maybe he addressed this but i missed it. Thanks

Wow! I am going to listen again and take notes! I've had so many trainers who turn out to be one trick ponies. I've become so confused and disenchanted. Some trainers make you go all out like they train you like they train. I've been gaining and it feels like it's never going to end! I really think this could actually be a workshop! Thanks so much!

Great talk. Being picky, I though muscle memory was more about reflexes, learned movements and automaticity, than muscles regrowing to a previous size after atrophy.

Ooh also it is when times get tough, cortisol and anxiety exhaustion our minds get busy and healthy habits are not the focus and we may sleep less, rest more become more sedentary feel worn out eat something sweet, pick up a beer or glass of wine because we lack dopamine and no longer feel great instant gratification from convenience in little choices all add up as does muscle atrophy. Stress, environment and awareness matter and our habits as much as stable blood sugar, not overeating or eating foods dense in hidden added sugar, omega 6 and trans fats. Unhealthy can taste good, instantly but change happens slowly for better or worse. Self love is self care and results are not instantly available we miscalculate what is the highest good for what feels good. Decisions made from bad feelings don't create results if we don't think of the long term good.
