I'm sure she has to live with survivors guilt on top of PTSD. She's not the only one at fault if the prosecutor decided a "conviction was unlikely because she was a drug user and wouldn't be believed". It's ALL a tragedy!!
@Daniel ok then. Please tell all rape victims they are responsible for others rape because they were afraid of abuse if they spoke up. Please tell abused kids its their fault for their sibling being abused because they were too afraid to tell someone. Please tell abuse victims it was their fault that others were abused because they were fraid of being staked and harmed afterward. As a canadian your statement is very accurate, the missing cases tend to usually go cold. How many are still missing years after they disappeared with no leads or anything? Its sad really
Spirit yeah as someone who lives in Canada this is true. The police really don’t try. Hundreds of indigenous women have gone missing over the years and 70% of the cases are left unsolved.
OH definitely and nobody really investigates when our native women go missing. It pisses me off. I am from Canada as well and these ppl are very right.
I think another issue is not so much the police not caring about missing people, but the fact that they are overwhelmed, geographically speaking. Canada is about the same size as the USA, yet has only around 10% of the population number. with such vast amounts of empty space, and low population density, there is just far too many places in Canada for a person to go missing, and not enough people to potentially witness them. in a twisted sort of way, Canada could be a Paradise for potential serial killers.
My dad has told me terrifying stories of this farm. He use to pick up his mom there because it use to be a "party" house for people from the east side. Very dark story
@Pork Chop lol. My great uncle, Bill, was a bigtime hog-farmer until he passed a couple years ago, and in his memory i share this story.. A buddy of Bills had come to his home, which was located right in front of the barn.. The man remarked on how the air was even filled with the stench of pigs and good ol southern hog crap.. Bill then remarked, "Smells like money to me" to which his friend chuckled because he knew Bill made decent money with these pigs.. Years later, around the time the economy started taking a nosedive and everyone seemed to have very little funds, this friend went to visit Bill, as he did often and as they chatted about the economy and weather Bill muttered, "You know, them hogs are beginnin' to smell like shit."... 😂
My forensic anthropology professor worked on this case. She and her colleagues had to go through his entire property looking for body parts. Apparently the dude used to poop In wonderbread bags and bury them. My professor had to dissect the contents of every bag to make sure no body parts were inside 😷

MikiKiki like wtf was the point of giving him a pet to slaughter anyways? Disgusting treatment of both the calf and the young man - wish better people would have raised the young man up and maybe he’d’ve turned out better in life
I remember when this happened. He lived in my province (BC). The trial that followed was truly something to behold. Please cover more cases from the great white north.
Misfitism Bryer and Kam? they blew their brains out. Sad - they took all explanations and all info with them to the grave. We might never know why, how, etc.
Too many parents don't take their jobs as seriously as they should.... We mold and form our children's minds and personalities.... Don't take it lightly. I'm inclined to believe this guy's childhood had a _lot_ to do with why he became a serial killer.
Jay Bee Nah, Bundy and Dahmer had messed up childhoods with either absent mothers or abusive ones. That is a common thing with many serial killers...abusive or abandoning moms.
Happened to me. I was forced to eat my lamb, a gift for me to raise in 4H. My mother was very twisted and enjoyed hurting me psychologically, when hurting me physically wasn't possible. Be all intents and purposes, I SHOULD be bat-shit crazy due to all that's been done to me. I fight everyday for my humanity and sanity. If I don't, I know I'll be more like her. THAT is NOT an option!!
Melissa Ting: OMG! I'm so sorry!! That must've broken your heart and made you so sick!! My heart goes out to you! No matter how long ago it was, you never get over it...
When you opt out of Capital Punishment, anything goes. Justice system is a game they play. Pickton is kept safe and warm and well fed in a Penitentiary somewhere. We are paying for that too.
Regardless it's still better than the American justice system. Keep you trapped in privatized prison to suck all the money up. People in there that shouldn't be. 80 years for Bud in the 70's.
I remember one day when my science teacher stopped class to talk about this case. It was probably because she was debating about how pigs weren't vegetarian.
My moms a psychiatric nurse, her friend had seen pickton in jail where he is currently located and she stated that there’s no way he could have done it alone as he was “slow” meaning he was technically to dumb do have committed the crimes by himself. A few of them plus the police believed that his brother was apart of it but had no evidence.
@nepafu666 the mounties did catch my ex girlfriend's son's dad who killed his mom and grandmother. He was trying to jump border and is now still in prison. So I'm glad mounties were up to that task
@@Vanilla_Icecream1231 exactly, i hope it's the latter. The OP says his mom is psychiatric nurse but then said that his mom's friend saw him in jail (prison?). That implies that the mom's friend is also a psychiatric nurse who met with him as a patient. But perhaps mom's friend was just a corrections officer or something in facility, in which case a passing observation wouldn't be sufficient to assess cognitive function. If mom's friend did in fact meet with him as a patient and then not only revealed that but is sharing results of any testing she did with him and also speculating that he may not be culpable for his crimes... yikes. That could be problematic in so many ways

For real- unreliable? You have literal hospital records, witnesses, and a key that unlocked her handcuffs found on the accused. What’s unreliable exactly?
@@ryanweeks6118 its simple prejudice against (poor) drug users. Theres a reason monsters target the most vulnerable people in society and him getting away was because of community bias. Look up the missing & murdered indigenous women movement
So someone handcuffs you and stabs you multiple times but you're able to escape with the handcuff still attached to your hand and the prosecution ultimately is like "Sorry, ma'am, we can't charge him because you're a drug addict. Therefore, you're an unreliable witness." I'd be like YOU witnessed it, I had handcuffs on my hands, tf you even mean?
Worse than that, Wendy took his knife away from him and stabbed him in the face. He showed up at the same hospital as Wendy and the handcuffs were removed from her hand with the key found in Willie's pocket.

Not all people with terrible parents and horrible childhoods grow up to become serial killers. I had both and am the exact opposite. I feel great compassion for everyone but especially children and the disabled and elderly.
So because she was an ex-drug addict, they shrug their shoulders and said “ahh 🤷🏻♀️?!” It appears that Canada isn’t as “kind” and “caring” as people make it out to be either! 🤨

Damn that first woman was tough AF for getting away with a punctured lung and being partially disemboweled. It's bull that the court let him go because she was a drug user despite you know, him having the key to the cuffs, there's no way someone would disembowel themselves no matter their state of mind (and I'm sure there's a way to tell that she didn't do it herself), and of course she'd be scared of him.
Currently there are town homes where the pig farm was. Imagine living on a piece of land that has had so many tortured women murdered there. 😳 Development happened so quickly. Was as if the police "solved" the case at a very convenient time. When a lot of new development was happening in Port Coquitlam. 🤔
Missy Minnick I was thinking about that but couldn’t remember the titles. Yeah it was terrifying. I also think some elements of Texas Chainsaw massacre was based on this as well.
While I'm by no means condoning what he did, it's still sad knowing it was completely brought on due to his absolutely shit parents that destroyed him.
That part...I had to pause it and just sit and think about it for a good minute. Serial killers always has e such fucked up childhood and that shit was pretty fucked up.
Right? get it that they were farmers but holy shit! Are we sure the dad wasn't a psychopath or a sadist as well...? "Look at the disemboweled carcass of something you loved, little child, look!" ...who the fuck does that...
Think people are making a bigger deal of the calf killing than it really is. Children growing attached to animals on a farm only to have to eat or even slaughter them is very common. This guy was just crazy and would have committed his crimes if the calf was never killed.
My ex's sister was one of the sorters and sifted threw the bones... she wasnt allowed to say anything for a long time but once she was she said alot more women had been killed and found but not reported about. They threw white Rose's in a pit on the farm for every one they found (she showed pics of the pit!) and it was over 100. She was fresh from university her and a bunch of her class mates had been sent down as it was to much, she went from ontario all the way out west. She wanted to be in forensics she spent over 50 thousand on the education after working the pig farm she was so disturbed that she ended up teaching English in Japan. Great vid! So F'd up.

I knew a guy who was in jail with Pickton in BC. He was a good guy, just got addicted to the wrong things and was involved in some dark stuff. Anyways, he said anytime Pickton walked by, all the inmates would oink at him as he passed, lol
This is what happens when you raise a child without care. This is what happens when you take away the one and only thing they loved. (That calf story still has me bawling without exaggeration) THIS is what happens when you give no love to your own child, and leave them to fend for themselves. What this person did isn't excusable, but I will forever empathize, and sympathize with him.... Judge all you want. This poor guy...
I was thinking the same thing, I would be sick to my stomach if someone hurt my pets, let alone a family member doing that... ugh, this poor bastard never had a chance at normal life
In the mid to late 1990's I remember hearing numerous stories of all night live music drinking parties near Vancouver known as Piggies Palace, I knew a few people who partied at those events, all of which, (and more) would later come out in the news media. I was shocked at the time.
Heres an extra tidbit of horror from someone who lived in the town this was all happening in at the time. While his disposed of many bodies in the area, or parts of them, he also fed them to his pigs. Those pigs were sold to local grocers as various pork products. This means, if you were living in this town around the time these murders were going on, any pork products you consumed may very well have been from pigs that had consumed human flesh at some point before slaughter. We uh. We try not to think about that too much.
😡I'm so fricken angry😠 Who the fk do the police think they are to judge ANYONE coz they use drugs, drink alcohol etc? The police definitely don't know everyone & what they've been through in their lives so to play judge, jury & executioner whilst not giving a crap many lives have been tragically lost due to their inability to not see the person right in front of them!!! 7yrs those boots & gloves sat in evidence with 2 more separate DNA on them. How many more women died whilst they sat there for 7yrs coz the police were / are too quick to judge? Children who lost their mum's all due to the fact the police couldn't be bothered doing there job correctly on the assumption they'd made in pre judging an innocent victim? If that part ever gets looked into deeply I'd like to know if a class action lawsuit has ever been made against the police departmemt involved? Sadly knowing the way our world works they all got leave with pay, desk duty are now all detectives & / or retired🕊
If you are First Nations in Canada, they ( cops) assume you are a drug addict or a drunk, and probably a prostatute. Since 1970, 4,000 First Nation woman and girls have been murdered or gone missing. Its fucked up. Its called, "The Missing and Murdered Woman and Girls Inquiry". First nation people as a whole make up 5% of Canada's pop. But The amount of murdered and missing First Nations people is beyond horrifying.
Kazs Opinions And Thoughts well really it isn’t so much as judging them, but instead recognizing that (even though not always correct) that they can’t rely on a drug addicted person because of the lucid and dazed state it causes the user to be in. Therefore, meaning they could be confusing what’s going on. It’s very seldom true, but it is understandable
jada young yeah ikr! Kataver Kitty is so timely with getting the research done and the scripts written, I’m surprised he can’t get the videos out sooner! I mean, he is going through a lot right now...maybe that’s why?
Amazing. You even included key points in Willy's life that may have been his trigger for the tragedy. The devil is in the details. ....Or in Canada apparently.
Canadian here, I remember when I was a little kid hearing about Pickton and all the women he’d killed was truly a dark moment in the lower mainland’s history of Canada
It's such a shame Wendy didn't show up at his trial, so many other women would be alive today if she had of been brave enough. I'd hate to have that on my conscience for the rest of my life. It's not her fault of course, but I'd say she is haunted by both facts.😥

So often we hear that many serial killers had horrible childhoods, abusive parents or families, neglected and bullied. It's sad because some of them may never have turned out the way they did if they'd had loving, caring families.
Its not often talked about. But growing up on a farm. Having to take a life you care deeply about as a child... It instills a coldness in you. Tearing the kindness out of people at a certain age breaks people in a funny way. For some people it might make the difference between a kind person and someone who no longer values life
