I had done 3 th400's before I encountered my hd version in my HR Imperial 33. lost drive and reverse because the front clutch pack got welded together. Made it like it was in drive and reverse at the same time. Was going to help coach you if it was a HDTH400 Because they have an extra clutch and straight planetary gears. Trashed the GM clutch clearance and set them to Honda spec which is half of the GM spec. Used the Allyson type clutches and put the best sprags in. Installed a temp and pressure gage. Works dreamy. Literally beyond tow truck specs. Yes, Precision Transmission was a big help in making sure that I got it right the first time. Took me 3 tries to get my th400 reliable in my 350hp Nova.

I have been a mechanic and fixed lots of things over last 35 years... Including rebuilding motors and pumps. I WONT rebuild a transmission... Just too much... But With enough research I am sure you could pull off a fairly decent result. I just don't mess with them. I would either go used real cheap or pull it and have it rebuilt by a pro

Once you have transmission problems of slipping changing the oil is a 50/50 chance,got to keep in mind that if the transmission is slipping any clutch material in the oil is helping shift.basically you are taking off the friction material. Making it worse or better if you are lucky.

One of the biggest problems with the 4L 80 is the reverse servo piston they usually blow out and then you won't have reverse and that's from going in reverse and shifting into first really quick get a billet through Transco they have a billet nice thick piston

My dad has a GMC 1995 Yukon truck with the 350 4x4, 7 years ago the transmission broke, so then my dad decided to reconstructing It, It cost 450 dollars (8,000 Mexican pesos) and it was better than buying a new one. I suggest you do the same.

The Th400 is super common and typically incredibly durable. You should find one with lower miles and just swap it out (the rear e-brake assy is easy to swap). I'm pretty sure the TH400 is a 3 speed and the TH350 is 4 speed. Typically the 350 is a bit less durable. Both have the same bolt pattern. Good luck.

Make sure to mark all the check ball's when you take the valve body off I use to work at aamco transmission it's not that bad to rebuild that transmission but take lots of pictures and record the hole time my experience is the transmission is only going to get worse it won't fix it's self and good luck I'd help you but your to far away to drive

These aren't that bad. Just record everything and put it back together in exact opposite and keep it clean

I know I pointed this out in a prior video of yours but your insomnia maybe helped or improved by a vitamin d supplement, get your vitamin d level tested first you may need a higher strength supplement. A lot of people are deficient and don’t know it.

im a diy and self repair guy and ill work on and do about anything but Transmissions i refuse u will drive yourself crazy cheaper and easier to just swap them out... theirs a reason why their is transmission guys who all they do is work on transmissions and their whole workshop is dedicated to transmissions....
