to be fair, scottish country dancing doesn't involve the heel at all, so an scd dancer who wants a challenge or huge calves could do it all on their toes too
Yes instead of P.E we had dance lessons at my high school in pre Christmas lessons because our school Christmas dance was first half Scottish dancing then after a break the disco. I think more boys danced in the first half than the second. So much fun.
My friend was a hired DJ during college one time and he said he literally got dizzy watching dancers doing this. I miss my good friend. Rest in peace my friend.
I have Scottish heritage. I love Scottish/ Gaelic music. And I also love dancing. I love to watch guys in kilts dancing. I’m also intrigued by country dancing because it’s different than the usual dances in the USA. I just found your channel today and subscribed. Looking forward to watching your videos.

@@ScottishCountryDancing I'm sorry, I couldn't find a clip of that here on RU-vid, and I actually got the name of the movie wrong (sorry!) The movie was made in 1961 and it is actually called "On the Double". Kaye plays the role of an American GI in WW2 who has to impersonate a British (Scottish) General and his attempt to take part in a Scottish dance, in a kilt barely kept under control, is one of the funniest scenes in the movie. I would definitely recommend checking the movie out from the library if you've never seen it :)
@@TheJoyfulEye yes well when I looked it up I thought you must have meant On The Double! Anyway I’m glad you brought my attention to it, I will look it up. Thanks! 🤩
My grandfather, on my father's side, was a Scot and my great grandpa, on my mother's side, was half Irish, half American Indian. I love everything Scottish or Irish or Indian. I suppose I'm just a mutt!
Great dancing! I can see where a lot of our American Square dance moves came from. I see you all are short in men too over there, lol! I don't know about how it is over there, but you can't hardly find a dance over here.....at least not very close.
We have quite a few dances around us in Scotland but live where several towns run classes and dances. You have much wider area to travel in the USA! Even far away in Scotland isn’t that far in comparison 😊
