The Power and Beauty of Swiss Balls

Because it’s been a while since I’ve talked to you about the Swiss ball, I felt like it was the right time to reinvigorate your awareness of its beauty and power.
The Advantages of Swiss Balls
1. It’s portable. For a lot of athletes, especially professional athletes, I’ve written programs they can do on the road, because they can deflate the ball, put it in their suitcase and travel with it.
2. Because the Swiss ball is mobile, when you’re using it to exercise, it fires up your balance centers and activates your postural centers. Whenever you’re on the ball, it activates all the postural and balance mechanisms that we have to use to perform any functional exercise. That’s the opposite of machine training.
Paradoxically, it was always mind-blowing for me to see trainers put older people on exercise machines because they had poor balance.
3. The Swiss ball is also very good because it enhances your nervous system and the speed of your reflexes. Both get sluggish if we don’t use them. When you’re doing exercises on a Swiss ball, however, your body must react fairly quickly

Wow. I had never heard the name of Paul Chek before, but this video presents life-changing knowledge and moves. I've been struggling with posture issues (forward head and swayback posture from playing violin for years with incorrect posture) and watched dozens of videos about PT exercises, anatomy, yoga. And then I just watched this and started playing with my Swiss ball. And now I can feel my body again. Most of my hip, shoulder and neck pain went away after just an hour of playing with this, and my posture is visibly improved. I learned to love my Swiss ball again! Thank you.

That hip thrust I've seen before, but not on a ball. And the lunge with back leg on the ball was a genius idea. Hi Paul what’s your thoughts about the timing of pre and post workout meals. Is it detrimental to long-term success to strength train before breakfast? I personally don't lose strength or performance and can progress if I do heavy and intense weight training before breakfast. Other times when I do eat 2-3 hours before a workout typically mornings I sometimes don't need to eat for 3 hours after my workout. It would be interesting to know what your meal spacing is pre and post workouts and if there’s a reason why you do it. Thank you.

Hello Paul! This may be a random question out of the blue but it is one that I have been struggling with for quite sometime. Thanks to your reference I began studying some of the work of Rudolf Steiner. In a book with a compilation of lectures on nutrition, Steiner goes on to examine grains from a spiritual scientific point of view. From what I understood,grains are very supportive from that standpoint and he goes on to say that a diet where there is an improper ration of little grains like rye and wheat compared to too much potatoes it is very detrimental to the “head forces”. I am using this example because it is one I remember best, however I am certain that Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual research on grains including gluten containing grains contributed to the strengthening of the human being. From studying your works Paul, I can’t help but to get confused because in your personal and clinical experience you have seen people do tremendously better when limiting or eliminating grains. I have done my research and understand the reasons from a mere scientific point of view. But what would spiritual science have to say in regards to this topic? You have certainly studied Rudolf Steiner’s work much more extensively than I have and for years which I am asking you if you could further help me understand this. Could eliminating or consuming less grains be harmful to us in our health from a spiritual scientific perspective? Thanks You 🙏🏼

Hi, Good question. There are a variety of factors that have to be considered. Here are some of my comments in this regard: 1. Grains in Steiner's day were not the hybrid versions created by commercial farming and food processing corporations; they were either the actual genus, or hybrids not created by gene manipulation in labs. Therefore, our immune systems were less likely to see the foods as threats and that would mean that there was not an inflammatory reaction to eating them; inflammation causes leaky gut syndrome, which is rampant today. 2. There was a LOT less chronic illness and disease in Steiner's day than now, by far. Because of that fact, people had more energy for digestion, elimination, detoxification, and to keep all bodily systems healthy and functioning well. If a person just follows Steiner's advice without honoring what their body is telling them *symptoms*, then they will simply create more problems, which entangle consciousness at the level of the body, and defeats the point of spiritual practices. 3. Steiner did not have the kind of knowledge Weston A. Price brought to the world because he didn't study the variation in diets, and internal systems throughout different races and gene lines; he was from Austria, and did the great majority of is work in Europe and some in the Eastern block. I've had to do some serious rehabilitation for various diseases with Steiner devotees; people raised in the Steiner school system (Waldorf) largely because they were eating vegetarian diets, as "directed by their Steiner teachers and the elite people governing their education", all based on the idea that "Steiner wanted everyone to be vegetarian and that eating meat limited one's spiritual growth." Sadly, this common misconception is like a virus in the Woldorf and Steiner circles. I have, right in my library, books by Steiner where he states that "one should not become a vegetarian until it happens naturally for them", which by the way, is exactly what Paramahansa Yogananda said, and the same problems with diet, and the negative results of those eating vegetarian with genes that require flesh food nutrition. When I've shared this fact with my Steiner patients, it blew their minds...as you can imagine....but they all followed my teachings and are now disease free! There is more I could share, but my time is limited... Love and chi, Paul Chek

Paul Chek Thank you Paul for the answer. I wanted to ask; I have taken and completed HLC level one online and I ran into a little conflict between the 4 day rotation diet and the dowsing/soul connection methods I learned to listen to our body. Many a time my body would want foods more than every 4 days...sometimes every 3rd or second, or even every other day. At first I suspected that it may be an emotional attachment I have to a food, like milk for example. But I noticed that I would ask my body about foods that I know I do not have an emotional attachment towards and the same conflict would still occur. Would it be better to trust the dowsing method or stay committed to the 4 day rotation diet? Thank you again so much for your time 🙏🏼

Hey Paul, What is your opinion on greens supplements like Living Fuel SuperGreens (which apparently is not a supplement but a full meal replacement, as they advertise)? Can they be used as a replacement for vegetables or would we be missing out on something?
@PaulChekLive
@PaulChekLive 6 лет назад
HI, First off, if any such food source is not organic, then you are just concentrating farming toxins in your body, and there are A LOT of them, and very dangerous. Second, if that is the best option you have, and it's organic materials, then go for it. Third, a little foresight/planning, and one can easily use quality jerky meats, and raw vegetables like celery, carrots, peppers, onions, radishes, etc...all last throughout the day without refrigeration, are "alive", have living enzymes in them, and are FAR better than anything you'll get out of a can/package! Hey Paul, I was looking into becoming a check personal coach and had a question. To become certified do you need to complete the test from the pre-requisite booklets, or do you have to do that as well as the workshop to obtain the certification? Any response would be highly appreciated!

@PaulChekLive 6 лет назад
Hi, We require incoming students of all C.H.E.K Advanced training programs (ATP) to complete the prerequisite courses and tests before taking the ATP. Once you take an ATP, you are given a specific time period to complete the course test. Once you pass the test for each ATP, you get your certificate of completion. The education department at the C.H.E.K Institute can always answer this kind of question. You can reach them at: www.chekinstitute.com Love and chi, Paul Chek

Yo paul is it really necessary to do a bunch of reps to build a good physique. For example woudn't the body be more grateful for an exercise such as just hanging in one arm as opposed to doing one arm chinups because the first is more natural and will be easier integrated? Ive observed quite a large number of people that lifts and when they stop lifting the body immadietaly wants to go back to a more balanced and natural physique. Ive observed the phenomena quite a few times in myself and close relatives that after a really intense leg workout or any high rep thrusting exercise the butt/thrust muscles swells up like crazy from the adaption maybe two days later but unless you do the workout regularly the legs wants to go back to a more functional state (naturally growing legs almost)adapted to just standing and doing gait/more athletic stuff. My point is that is it really natural to lunge more than a minor amount of times same with squats and bends since you said yourself in nature you woudnt do repeated reps with something and that what we actually crave from exercise is just time under tension. In that case woudnt it be more natural exercise to for example if you would like the simulate the tension from a max out deadlift 10 reps, and do something like carrying a big rock up a hill since that is just static load but the same or more intensity and stability required. Then you would get ''weighted gait'' or a weighted sprint and heavy static load on the arms and back/ entire body. Finally my point if you don't understand what i am saying is that coudn't it be that it is more harmful to do repeated reps with something since it is unatural and a stupid waste of energy in nature and be much better to do static training training and if you really like to break yourself down and geta ball busting workout to do something like carry crazy big rocks or wrestle to the death, just something naturally difficult that could have happened in nature? Something that doesnt make the body want to go back to a more natural functional state after you've trained. I belive that the body still tries to be functional for nature even though we live in todays day and age. Wrestling is a useful trait in nature and the muscles built comes in a nice shape therefore the chances that the body will want to remember that stimulus are higher then doing a ''gym'' workout. I think of it as masaru emoto describes water, water that flows in a riwer creates a more beautiful crystal than water that flows in an unatural pattern. In the same way a body that does something natural will be a better crystal than a body that does something unnatural. So for example the body will resonate better in all ways by running in nature than running on concrete. It will like making stonestacks cause it closer to building a home than doing repeated deadlifts with a metal bar and like stonework more in general. Much joy to you!

Wow...long one...please realize I have limited time to try and help as many people as I can, and the questions you are asking here are the very reason I have "Advanced Training Programs"; everything you are asking about is addressed clearly in C.H.E.K Exercise Coach training, and the prerequisite courses for that training; Advanced Program Design gets into much of what you are asking about here.... There is a "science" to developing effective exercise programs, and only a fraction of 1% of all the exercise "experts" actually understand, or apply that science effectively, sadly...which is why I've been asked to consult for so many professional sports teams, Olympic teams and committees, college teams, and some branches of the military. The challenges you describe are simply what occurs when a person isn't aware of, or practicing the progressive developmental stages I outline in C.H.E.K Exercise Coach, and all the more advanced ATPs. If you contact the C.H.E.K Institute to see if my webinar on "how to prepare for functional training" is still accessible to the public, you'll get a good sample of C.H.E.K Exercise Coach training. If you study the prerequisite courses, you'll be another step further toward mastery, and if you take the training, you'll be able to answer all your questions easily, and help MANY others do the same! You can learn more about the training here: chekinstitute.com/chek-exercise-coach-c-h-e-k-practitioner-programs/ Love and chi, Paul Chek

Hello Paul im currently studying your program design, and in the 1:4 chapter you talk about designing an excercise program for a male pair skater with a training age of 13 who wants to increase his relative strenght. I noticed that you picked alot of low reps like 2-4. What would you do diffrent if he wanted to increase his absolute strenght? Would you make him gain muscle first with sets of 8-12 reps and then move to lower repitition? Much love, Simon
@PaulChekLive
@PaulChekLive 6 лет назад
HI, Yes, but a figure skater, who needs MAXIMUM vertical jumping capacity, would never ask you to increase absolute strength unless he was completely confused as to what that actuall meant; increasing absolute strength can't be done with body weight restriction and maximum absolute strength in a figure skater would turn him into a power lifter on skates! Can you imagine the challenges that would create? Love and chi, Paul Chek

Hello Paul i know you recommend water like evian, do you still think its worth buying evian even tho its stored in plastic bottles? i saw a comment you made several years ago ".What you may be gaining from drinking bottled water, you are also probably loosing in contaminants from the plastic, not to mention the X Factor of what they have in there for water? Much chi, Paul Chek " And if i drink evian do you got any recomendations on how to reduce the plastic contaminants?
@PaulChekLive
@PaulChekLive 6 лет назад
Hi, Years ago, I was drinking evain out of glass bottles, which can be purchased usually in lots of 10-12 cases at a time from restaurant suppliers, so plastic wasn't an issues for me. Now, I drink Palomar Water from Mt. Palomar, which I can see right out my window. They have an artesian well that is 4,000 feet deep, and the water tests show NO contaminants :-) A very rare find, and the water is delivered in 5 gallon glass bottles :-) If you can't find decent water in glass bottles, then the best thing you can do is detoxify yourself regularly with detox support supplementation, and do an oral colon cleans kit every 3-6 months depending on how toxic your environment is, and the kinds of symptoms your body may be giving you. I prefer the colon cleanse kits at www.aerobiclife.com A key factor when having to use plastic bottles is to put them into a water bottle carrier so the bottle isn't exposed to direct sunlight, which drives xenoestrogens and other chemicals out of the plastic and into the water. Hello, Dr. Happiness governs the domain of mind and correlates to the air element in alchemy. Clarifying your dream, goals or objectives, learning to manage your mind effectively (lots more on that in PPS Success Mastery Lesson 2! You can learn more here if you want to master the use of your own mind: chekandpps.infusionsoft.com/app/storeFront/showProductDetail?productId=120 ) Dr. Movement governs "breathing, movement of body, emotions, and mind", or how you invest your energy and correlates to the fire element. Dr. Movement has two modes of movement expression: Working-out: Any activity that uses more energy and resources per unit of time than the activity returns (masculine/yang = Division of Power); work-out activities require a recovery period and nutritional support for effective recovery. Working-In: Any activity that generates more energy per unit of time than it cost to do the activity; examples are the zone exercises in my books "HTEM&BH!" and TL4DYEN, gentle forms of tai-chi and Qi-going, soft yoga practices, slow walking or walking meditation, etc. NOTE: Working-In is the yang component of Dr. Quiet and the yin/feminine component of Dr. Movement. Dr. Quiet governs rest (active, passive and Total rest or sleep), relaxation, regeneration, introspection, self-reflection, and meditation. As mentioned above, the masculine expression of Dr. Quiet is working-in, which aids energy accumulation, shifting the ANS to a parasympathetic state, and is a form of active meditation. Dr. Diet governs all consumption of food, water, or anything that you consume, such as supplements, recreational or medical drugs. I hope that helps you better understand the framework of my 4-Doctor model. If you haven't read my ebook, The Last 4 Doctors You'll Ever Need, it goes much deeper into all the doctors, and offers video demonstrations, slides, and audio tracks; there are four expansion audios available that go deeper into each of the 4 Doctors, which you can find at www.chekinstitute.com in the shop section under audios. Love and chi, Paul Chek

Hi Paul, i completely understand. I myself am as certain as you are that my opinion on this matter generally is true but that there are other situations that require other strategies such as following ones heart path etc (different goals). Often times (95%) i ask because u are like a god to my brother and some of my close friends so i have to get confirmation from the master sometimes! Question how can you be so certain that you know how nature works (movement and development ) and that your programs are correct, that there are no angles you haven't considered? You don't exactly need alot more than a minor selection of some good exercises and the correct technique for diet in most cases of trouble (or rest). My friend went to the first two of your courses and he had nothing new to offer. That may sound like arrogancy but considering that the majority of my knowledge already comes from conclusions from your teachings i dont think so. Much meditation to you!
@PaulChekLive
@PaulChekLive 6 лет назад
Hi, I can see your analytical mind works very well :-) My teachings on movement come from a lifetime of studying nature, movement principles in nature/life, selective pressures of nature and their influences on (human, animal and plant) movement, and the study of all the relevant sciences of the body. What is most influential on my approach to movement and all things related to it (and we must also consider that movement of the body isn't something that occurs separate from movement of light, electrons, fluids, nutrients, hormones, emotions, and thoughts) is the influence of specific movements, be they mobilizations, stretches, or exercises on the orthopedic and biological functions of the body. I spent MANY years studying the orthopedic responses to specific mobilization, stretching, and/or exercise prescriptions and created calibrated instruments to supplement the existing goniometric systems of measurement. This allowed me to catalog the various responses to prescribed interventions and compare them with the initial assessment of the patient's body and internal systems and psychological status. The C.H.E.K Practitioner and HLC Programs teach a system of assessment (If you are not assessing, "you are guessing!") and a methodology of prescription based on individual needs, level of structural integration and postural status, and the application of movement to balance or enhance internal systems as well as subtle energy systems (emotions and thoughts). Unless you've spent a very considerable amount of time in a clinic and have the training and knowledge to know what to look for, how to assess it, and have the experience with hands on application, assessment, re-assessment, and progressive healing/program development, than you are likely to only get so far, just as someone who reads Hot Rod magazine can only get so far with repairing or enhancing performance in engines without training and an apprenticeship as a mechanic.... My system is used around the world at the highest levels of athletic development/professional/Olympic/amateur sports, medical clinics, universities, and more, because "it works", and includes many physicians, natuaopaths, osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, nurses, strength coaches, trainers, massage therapists, and more... If you speak to someone that has completed C.H.E.K Level 3 or HLC 2 and higher, I'm sure they will let you know why they invested many years of training with the C.H.E.K Institute considering that most of them had one or more advanced university degrees in areas directly related to the issues at hand. Love and chi, Paul Chek

Hi, I'd say that the chances are 10/10 that they do. If you use a modern phone, they can tap into your phone, camera, microphone, read your email, text messages..... What you can do about it....well....not much unless you go off the grid. My approach is to make it educational for them :-) You may want to watch my video on this channel called "Take Back Your Health 2017" where I get into these issues. Love and chi, Paul Chek

Hi Paul, there is a difference a car doesn't have an inbuilt repair system. The body is very simple sometimes i get the impression that nature heals people, but they go to chek practioners and other things to get some exercises that certainly helps if they need exercise but really just want to feel like they are doing something. The same friend that went to your courses and came back with essentially nothing that was already said by you for free just not in the same degree also went to a chek level 3 here in sweden. He gave him a few exercises and while they may have helped him in certain areas they didn't improve the overal vitality, why because only time and natural living heals people. Now his strenght is returning naturally he just needed rest and good food (he was very fatigued from hard training) You must have noticed this to a very large degree chek practioneers can't take responsibility for someones growth just because they teach them something as simple as how to eat and listen to your gut. And hand out pronecobras and multidirectional lunges. Which is what majority of them do. Sure there are more advanced formulas that they can follow like more advanced exercises unilateral infant development stuff but its not that complicated and can help speed up the process a little bit but not really needed. They can't take credit for nature which is 95% of the healing process when you behave naturally. So Chek practioneers hand out the simple exercises teach people how to eat, isolates obvious weak muscles that aren't responding. Correct obvious emotional imbalances that comes forth just by talking to client's why they stress over certain things. Then you have the highest levels chek practioneers ive listened to them on youtube. Not gonna name any names. Never heard anything they say that hasnt been said by you in one way or another. Never heard anyone talk about for example the gait pattern properly, there are so many things that you can improve on running. Just in the legs there are so many things to focus on, so many muscles and mechanics. My point is either you are keeping something in secret or there is nothing more juicy to be learned from you. No new grandiose concepts. Making a comparison to an engineer and car isn't going to get everyone interested. And keep in mind i have knowledge from chek level one and two because my friend went there. Surely if there were something somewhere it a portion if it should have been leaked out. When you mention something in your next blog that is very new and interesting something which you havent said in any of your blogs, mentioned in any of your books that is higher level chek stuff. Just a teaser will be enough. Then i will be very interested. And we are talking about movement here not connecting to your dead parents ghosts or any shamnic stuff. Much tolerance to you!

Hi Paul “When I eat meat,mamsa,it means “this animal will also eat me again” you cannot escape this, “life for life”.that is the law everywhere,if you have murdered somebody,u must be killed also.you can escape the so called state laws,but you cannot escape the laws of the material nature” Vrindavan April 7,1976 Love here ur thoughts on this and if u think there’s bad karma killing animals? Love and chi

All life feeds on life. That is simple fact. If you were able to calculate how many little animals you've killed by walking on them, laying on them, and drinking them in water, the number would be bigger than you could probably even pronounce.... This concept expresses ignorance regarding the fact that plants too, are very conscious, and in some instances, more conscious than most animals; if you study shamanism, you'll find many accounts of shaman and medicine men explaining that the plant spirits taught them how to make their medicines.... Every living thing is made of everything else; could you exist without the food, water, and air, or earth that makes your body and sustains it? No. You ARE all of it coagulated into human form, just as all living forms are coagulation of Spirit. If a person abuses life, be it microorganisms, plants, or animals, they are abusing "the Self", which is a signifier for the greater truth of the little (ego/individual) self; Self = Nature and The World. If we consume what we need with love, respect, and reverence for life, and use that love to help make the world a better place for all living beings, then nothing you've consumed has died, but has been reincarnated as a human helper-being in support of all life. Love and chi, Paul Chek

Please don't block me this is supposed to be constructive criticism (I realize you have not requested any). Your voice is distractingly high. Perhaps if you work on speaking more from your diaphragm you would sound more masculine?
