I'll never be able to stress enough how much I appreciate this channel. I'm far from being able to participate in something like this let alone produce a film but this videos keep me motivated to pursue my passion. Thank you StudioBinder team for yet another insane production level masterclass.
Omg I love that hollywood filmmakers are contributing information as guests! Please invite more of them since they all deserve to tell their processes and experiences and also have their name shine alongside with their works.
Thank you for this week's lesson. I won't ever make a film, but it is really helpful as an aspiring screenwriter to learn all the parts of the film making process. This video is extremely valuable.
Keep in mind this example is "Hollywood", where 99% of the non-creative crew for these bloated $300 million projects make only a handful of decisions and stand around all day snacking...An amatuer film lover/maker only needs a vision, a camera, editing software...and lots of time.
@@DrewFrostbaneno, your friends will call you crazy but pretend to support you bc it's still fun for them to watch you fail and reinforce all the "told ya so" toxicity and youll remain delusional to them until you make $/appear on a show theyre watching etc THEN you're a "talented genius". As for networking (ideally within the field), it's importance is often under estimated but every person is as excited to meet you as much as you think they're not..this is where real connections and progress takes place. At the snack table (for extras) on a Law N Order set. This is my experience and can be different as variables and nuances change but having a network is undeniably better than nobody who understands you or genuinely takes an interest, encourage etc. Just be careful with your boundaries but don't close yourself off.
I don't go to film school for my future work (I tried too but my mom wasn't confident enough to put me there), I'm going to law school which I'm certainly having a great time with it but hopefully if I have enough passion to make a movie without going to film school like Quentin Tarantino does, I hope this video can help me learn more about filmmaking. Only time will tell for my destiny ❤️
Not sure how long before I call 'action' but I'll all the much better prepared. Thank you for going to all this trouble to do this for us folk out here.
@StudioBinder can you guys please make a video on what is a non-linear narrative, how to use a nonlinear narrative to make our work compelling and intriguing. You guys can give examples of a good nonlinear and bad nonlinear work and how we can use it to make our stories better and uses it as a important tool.
@@StudioBinder In a recent interview with the RU-vid Channel Film Companion South, Dir. Vetrimaran mentioned how his last film met with so many troubles as they did not plan the pre-production well. This bloated both the budget and the schedule of the movie. I just said if I could, I will send this video to him. He is a prolific and path breaking director, but this would help him get his projects faster to his audience, who are usually made to wait longer for his projects to hit the theaters.
Even with all that money in Hollywood, for some reason you have some people who dont do their due diligence in preproduction making the entire process a disaster.
the TOM CRUISE FIASCO was totally unavoidable... had,,, a REAL director d=said to Tom ..no.. you cant do the stunt.. Film would have been ON SCHEDULE and everyone fine.. LOOK... TOM CRUISE.... I KNOW YOU>.... yeah... I said it.. I DO... and trust me my boy..... it DIDNT MATTER that audience's Kinew YOU did the stunt.. you are NOT Jackie Chan my friend.. STOP.... pushing,,, I know.. I know.. its exciting etc.. but don't... because SO many other PEEEPS and department's are depending on you,,,,, just .... ok.. just don't ... ok T.
As an “amateur” “indi” in the industry … it would be delightful to see a breakdown of “Industry Terms” (aka vocabulary) for all of ‘us’ beginners. I.e. “dood report, call sheet, key grip, executive producer, ADR, pitch, proposal, etc,… As someone who had to walk the line before the internet and at its birth… As wonderful and glorious as this channel is… let us not forget, the first timer, beginner, absolute baby… And purely passionate greenhorn … What is a 101 of terminology for the industry… “what should I know before I shoot myself in the foot with my passion..?” A series based on the vocabulary of the industry and a film set as well as the office environment of a studio …. It’s a hard lesson to learn the Hard way …
Yeah that's a great way to start film and save a lots of time. Bro make on types of producer who important I mean every film have producer on baget but which important😊
And also as I've said before, you guys are the best free film school anyone could ever ask for. Tbh from here in our im just gonna start telling people I went to studio binder university

As someone who's been learning the pre production process in trial by fire over the last few years of making short films, I'm just so glad this video exists to help future filmmakers avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Best studio binder video yet! This was absolutely demystifying!ames perfect sense! Perfectly explained! My whole life the movie-making process seemed dauntingly impossible but you explained it in such a way that makes it so much more simplistic and attainable, especially with the right team!
