From March 30, 2004: Contestants bid and play games for cash and prizes described by current Wheel of Fortune announcer Jim Thornton. You may notice a very small moment I did not edit out due to Pinnacle Studio 12 capturing glitch.
Paul LaRue well, until he was on wheel, I’d still say he was with CBS. After he did CBS 2, he went to CBS Radio (now Entercom Communications) and did news for KNX, if you remember.
He still periodically fills in on KNX. He anchored during the Christmas season in 2019 when a bunch of people were on vacation. But Mike Simpson and Karen Adams are the regular afternoon anchors now. (And Mike co-hosts KNX In Depth with Charles Feldman from 1p-2p before pairing up with Karen.)
Jim Thornton is the second Wheel of Fortune cast member who was on The Price Is Right. The first was, of course, Vanna White who was called to "Come On Down!" back in 1980.
Producers of the show and CBS should've named Burton Richardson as Permanent Announcer since he filled in for a lot of shows during Rod's absences! He was a way better choice to succeed Rod Roddy than Rich Fields
Looking at this, you may be right--he sounds different here than on Wheel. Rich may have been also good for Wheel (but now that I think about it, his Wheel voice was exactly the same as his Price voice).
He didn't have the shrill scream on Wheel that he had on Price. I found the end of the 11/22/10 game & didn't recognize that it was him when he did the THOUSAND dollars emphasise.
