Today's episode features Pat substituting for Holly.
The show aired January 19, 1984.
Season 12 e5164D
Recorded off the air from Game Show Network
This show was taped November 30, 1983 (Dian Parkinson's Birthday). Bob Barker announces her birthday during the playing of "Hit Me".
This show was taped during Holly Hallstrom's extended absence to pursue acting. Several substitute models took her place during late Fall 1983 and early Spring 1984 episodes.
Before Kathleen Bradley in the 1990s, Pat was not the first black model on TPIR. Harriet was actually the first black model on the show way back in 1972. When The New Price Is Right premiered in 1972, there was a companion weekly syndicated nighttime version hosted by Dennis James. Several of the early Season 1 episodes featured Harriet along with Anitra Ford and Janice Pennington. One of these early episodes is available on RU-vid. (Episode 006N) • Nighttime The Price Is...

Hit Me
Double Prices
Danger Price
Bonus Game (with Juke Box. Go Pat!)
10 Chances

Pat did an excellent job on filling in for Holly. 😀👍

Wow!! They should've hired her on the spot-that dancing at 32:38 was off the charts!

They were still hesitant at having African-Americans in that position unfortunately at that time.

@@daffyduckfan4478 That's crazy....AND sad to hear. I was actually hoping they'd invite Pat back for more episodes during Holly's absence (if more episodes from '84 surface on Pluto TV) but it appears that she unfortunately got the short end of the stick....

I remember they did had an African American model on TPIR as a sub. So Pat paved the way, long before Kathleen, Claudia, Lanisha, Starr, Gwendolyn & Phire!!

The first black model on TPIR dates back to 1972. On the weekly nighttime syndicated version of The New Price Is Right in the Fall of 1972, along with Anitra Ford and Janice Pennington there was a black model named Harriet on the show for a few episodes. One of those episodes is available to watch on RU-vid.

8:48 I guess whoever highlighted the winning bid got confused because normally it's the last bidder on Contestant's Row that typically makes the "safe" $1 bid instead of the 3rd contestant.
@millenniumman75
@millenniumman75 3 года назад
Actually, what happened was that contestant Jami said "Sixteen hundred", and then Bob said "Six hundred?" and then Jami repeated "Sixteen hundred". Then, Bob said "Sixteen hundred".....the person typing the price in was still thinking 600 because that was Bob initially said.....and if you go back to immediately before that bid.....Grace bid $800 and Bob said "Nine hundred!" He was having trouble hearing over the crowd.
