This game is coming back this coming season, with changes. It's going to be a cash game now, with better times = more cash, with a potential $20,000 top prize.
The total time limit is actually fifty seconds for the second edition. First round is ten seconds and if not all five are correct, a second round with an additional forty seconds time is inevitable except the amount is not one hundred percent of the prize. When all fifty seconds are expired, the game is over.
You are absolutely right that Time is Money is retired. The game just like Penny Ante had difficulties including season 33. It was never played for a car but Penny Ante,Joker, and Poker games were played
I think that $500 voucher should come back, should the game not be retired. That way, if after learning how many the player has wrong, if they're not sure which products they have wrong, they can still take $500 and leave (or if they ARE sure they can take another 20 seconds).
Oh so they had that game in the original version of The Price is Right but it was different than the one we see right now. Meaning before it was ten seconds to place the items in the correct price on the first attempt and then $20,000 to $0 In the game Time is Money right now, but before that in the original version, you start at 15 seconds and then you can choose to take the $500 or try another 15 second chance for the second attempt.
I loved this game. I think the contestant should have got 20 seconds though as it takes a few seconds to decide what goes where. It looks easy at home but in front of an audience on tv it is s bit more difficult. This was a good game.
I remember this game. “Time Is Money” is a fun game to play, but isn’t too bad. But sadly, it was updated with a modern look. Thanks to the Drew Carey version. I hate the updated version of “Time Is Money”. The new update version of “Time Is Money” is where you can win up to $20,000 or you can make a decision to win money by giving 20 seconds where the money goes down to win money or end up with $0 if you lose.
If you asked me, the current setup of TiM reminds me of the "2,000,000 question" segment of YDNJ, but without the host taking a cell phone call during the q.

+Daryck Reese, This was how it was originally played, it would have a prize to be played for, a $500 voucher that could be traded in for an extra 15 seconds (the game originally played at 25 seconds) or you could bail with the money, than the groceries. only 15 games now offer the ability to stop them early and accept lesser payouts, the rest of them require you to play all the way through. this originally was a bailout game where you could take the $500 not to play the second chance and to let your game be over, the revival will only let you stop if you get it exactly right in 10 seconds. This will reveal what the contestant has wrong,but which ones are wrong are never revealed. on the revival they are when the clock hits 0, and when the doors swing open to reveal what is wrong and where it should be. The original's first two playings are at 25 seconds, the later playings are timed to :40. In the revival it would go $0-2.99, $3-$5.99, and $6 or more as far as grocery prices, the original had this at $3, $3-6 and $6+. the revival adds additional pricing where at the time this was taped and played, a formalized structure for this game would not yet be final. It's 10 seconds to place the items on the pedestals, on the second attempt the money is the clock as it will count down from $20,000 at $1,000 a second until it hits $0, the display turns red, and the props outer ring with it also turns red, the game is over, the doors open up to tell the player what the solution is. On the original this doesn't reveal the whole solution to the player, but would it if multiple items were priced wrong resulting in a total loss though is what i wonder....
They should do it with the Drew Carey Time Is Money by having a chance to take $500 because there has been way too many losers in the new version of Time is Money.
According to what Wikipedia said, this game isn't REALLY retired...it's just on hiatus for now since April 2004...it's unknown whether it'll come back or not...
@greatbearofalltime with experience. Who Wants To Be a Millionarre's grand prize of 1,000,000 was won (I think the first time even) by some old white-haired truck driver. Old people are wise, and they know many things about society.
The new version works for two reasons -- the switch to high-definition and the hair-raising 10-second "dash for cash". No more asking the audience -- you have 10 seconds and must know your moves now. The second 20-second, a grand a second game is Bonkers and Race Game with more intensity. A game that requires a fit and smart contestant is good.
I remember this, but this was the earliest playing of “Time Is Money” where you can win a prize, or walk away with $500. That didn’t work out too well until the Drew Carey version where they brought back “Time Is Money” with a fresh new futuristic look, and a new cash where you can win up to $20,000, or you can win any money depending if you lose in the first try, and you can race against the clock as the money goes down to win $15,000, $10,000 to $1,000. If you ran out of time, you’ll end up with $0 and you’re out of the game.
The new version of time is money you have 10 seconds and twenty thousand dollars to play with. If you get the items wrong you will have a second chance and twenty thousand dollars to play with if the money reaches 0 the game is over
Steve Espinola 20 is waaaaay too much time. This was probably retired because it didn’t live up to it’s name. As you can see she walked and it is too easy to win the prize.
I wish they had kept this version of Time is Money when Drew Carey took over as host of The Price is Right the new version TOTALLY SUCKS, in my opinion, the game SHOULD be retired ALTOGETHER
