During the Battle of Umbara, Anakin Skywalker's 501st encounters stiff resistance from the local inhabitants. But then things get even more chaotic when Anakin is replaced by General Pong Krell. The Jedi Master's brutal tactics lead to some of the heaviest casualties for the 501st in the entire war.

I think the title of this video is going to be one of the main theme’s of the Bad Batch once season 3 conclude’s. Blind loyalty destroyed Kamino, blind loyalty led to the Clones being decommissioned, blind loyalty led to the Empire reigning supreme. On a more personal level it was Hunter’s blind loyalty to his squad that led to Omega being captured since if they had decided to join up with Rex they wouldn’t have been at Cid’s mercy and it was Crosshair’s loyalty to the Empire that led to the squad being in the position they are in at the end of season 2.

It’s ironic that Echo is so intent on following the regulations and orders and ends up going to join the bad batch, a squad that doesn’t follow orders and regulations.

Generation Tech made a comment that had me wondering. Dogma was a third generation clone. I wonder if they were engineered to be more fanatical and prone to follow all orders because they would be the "majority " of troopers in the field because of battle casualties. And they wouldn't resist order 1-99 (66) to the point that they would trust the government blindly? Just a thought

I think with Dogma specifically you can’t underestimate the obedience training the clones go thru. And while Dogma has had some battle experience, he’s still a rookie. He is going thru what Rex and Fives have already gone thru - with Anakin, a softer, gentler, more caring Jedi general. They didn’t have to go thru the huge identity shift because Anakin is far more understanding. This doesn’t remove responsibility from Dogma but it makes it comprehensible. I would like to think the fictional powers that were treated him fairly and he survived to be reassigned (likely demoted and sent to detention.) after all, he did what Rex was doing.
@Whiteknight-xg2pq
@Whiteknight-xg2pq 11 месяцев назад
Tbh I never realized how much Fury is burning in Tupp's eyes before the hunt for Krell. It was a great quick cut from Dogma's somewhat down trodden look while being imprisoned. I kind of felt bad for the trooper, he just chose the wrong side at the wrong time because he was drilled to follow orders from the field commander, sadly the instance being Krell instead of Anakin, which definably resulted in him being executed. (One) for refusing orders from an officer (Rex) and (Two) for executing a unarmed prisoner of war without trial. Over more it was probably the only way to keep Rex and the rest of the legion from being court marshaled for mutiny, even though it was for perfectly good reasons and resulted in the capture of a traitorous Jedi.
@tristankawatsuma8962
@tristankawatsuma8962 11 месяцев назад
Now this really makes Tup a question mark. He’s also a rookie, maybe younger than Dogma, and yet he doesn’t turn out like him. And yet later in of all the clones who could have had an early activation of their chip, he’s the one. The same guy who came up with the plan to capture Krell and was able to stun him.

I admit that I was once like Dogma. Not to drudge up old wounds, but I once believed entirely in my father. I mean, who else are you supposed to trust in this world but your parents, right? I did everything to make him happy, even to the point of turning against the people who genuinely cared about me for me. It was only when I took a stand against him that I realized I had made a horrible mistake in letting this man lead me about by the neck. Fortunately the people who I did turn on were more forgiving than I ever could've been and now here I am almost 7 years later with my own life, my own future and my own identity (patent pending).

The price of blind loyalty is a shot on the back of the head. I never figured why they made Crosshair so blindly loyal to the Empire while it mistreats him. It should've either been that he remains loyal to an Empire that enables him to be what he is, or, he should've jumped ship first chance when it's clear the Empire won't miss him. He's supposed to be a selfish character; not a blind dog. He even stated in the original cut of the TCW Bad Batch episodes that if his side left him to die, he wouldn't be so loyal.
@neofulcrum5013
@neofulcrum5013 11 месяцев назад
I think he was just clinging to purpose. Any purpose that lets him do what he’s best at. As a soldier, he didn’t see any other purpose for himself beyond that once the war ended. But gradually he realized the Empire wasn’t the answer either. Mayday’s death was the last straw for him.
@kenle2
@kenle2 11 месяцев назад
It's ego. He knows he's the best shot in the GAR and had accomplished things the regs and the new conscript/volunteers could never match. So he believes if he keeps demonstrating his superiority (by killing lots of their enemies without compunction) eventually the Empire HAS to recognize his value. Except he soon gets his face shoved into the fact that they REALLY don't. If you can just bombard your enemies into rubble from orbit with a Star Destroyer, or put an inferior trooper on every (important) streetcorner to cow most civilians - why do you need him in particular? He finally "got it" in "The Outpost". His superiors just didn't care and he couldn't make them care, no matter how good he was.

Well, Crosshair was probably doing just fine until he shot down his entire squad in S1 finale. To the Empire, I imagine, that was an odd case, definitely treasonous, and yet he still claimed loyalty to the Empire. So they “forgave” him, but kept him at arms length. And when Cody defected after his mission with Crosshair, the Empire probably decided that Crosshair was no more an asset to the Empire than all the clones soon would be. So he became yet another outdated piece of equipment, soon to be phased out.

Yet one more reason why Alan is the best and I love this channel; in the beginning when you were talking about Dogma being the "eager young soldier" and thirsting for combat, it reminded me of the Band of Brothers episode where Percante and O'Keefe are manning a gun and O'Keefe is whistling away and wanting "some action". Then Percante goes off on him saying all the new guys are all "where the Germans at...", etc. and that that part was the best part of the war for him since he's been able to consistently get hot food, hot showers and could wipe his butt with real toilet paper. Aaaand then you go and reference CAPT Sobel about a good disciplinarian not making a good leader. You're just the best Alan.

The fact that so much of past Star Wars has been about the dangers of blind loyalty makes Holdo's story in TLJ even more odd and out of place to me. It'd be one thing if Holdo had a legitimate plan that she told the crew about and Poe was being unreasonable about it, but as it stands Holdo didn't tell anyone squat and just said "hey trust me i got this" as the situation got more and more dire.

The flight crew had to have a destination, the transport pilots knew where they were going, the technicians had to get the cloaking devices ready, crew was extremely calm during the evacuation of the ship. Everyone but poes crew knew cause the only thing holdo knew about poe was he disobeyed direct orders from his commanders, got their entire bomber fleet killed for a glory kill when those bombers could have been used on vital targets like ship yards, amd endangered the first evacuation for personal glory. Amd his first act when he(a demoted officer who just did all that) wasn't told the plan was to insult her and yell at her and then mutiny. She told everyone but poe the plan cause he gave every reason that he couldn't be responsible and fight a war on a larger front instead of a single battle.

Those bombers were horrible and were death traps anyway. They were limited to the speed of handicapped snails and maneuvered like an arthritic whale on a beach. Dogma, also may have had his mindset of identity as being already dead. I know lots of combat veterans that have this mindset before being deployed on a mission that’s pretty much guaranteed to end with a firefight. The hard part is once you get into this mindset, it’s very difficult to come back from it. Regardless how well you’re able to adjust your bearings afterwards, or the therapy you receive, this will always be a part of your personality, & persona. The “no f*cks given, because I’m already dead!” attitude, is a monster during peacetime, or especially civilian life, when you start to really begin to question if your life has any purpose, or value off the battlefield. God, have mercy on you, if this is further compounded by survivor’s guilt. That’s the perfect storm for suicide among combat veterans who return home, yet never truly, fully return home.

However, without the well earned loyalty to said Jedi and loyalty of the jedi to their clones, built up over three years of mutual suffering and fighting in the clone wars , the inhibitor chips would never have been necessary to cause the clones to turn into mindless drones and make them turn on those whom they had come to see as brothers and friends.

Rex probably wouldn't have shot him (at least not before Krell starts actively resisting capture), his gun is at the ready in order to prevent the evasion of capture. Or was lying? judge, jury, executioner need to all be separate people with opportunities for appeal and a chance for the accused to defend themselves in a court of law. As much as justice can be perverted in this manner it is preferable than to allow any person or group unilateral to have the ability to kill someone when they feel like it. no matter how justified those feeling are.

I won't second-guess Filoni, but I will say: It might have been more interesting if Krell had just been plotting to get rid of as many clones as possible rather than being a Sith Wannabe.

Hey GT love the video's and have been watching for 2 years now. But I've never seen something that more recently has been touched on in the background of Star Wars. That is were the Separatist movement wrong? As in some ways if I try to scale their politics and faction as a whole I see that, they do happen to have some good points and predictions for that of the G.A.R. and some wrong ones for sure. But with the rise of the Empire and the aftermath of it Between Andor and Mando season 3 Episode 6. We get to see perspectives of the average Separatist citizen with the case of Mando season 3 and in Andor we as the fans are found cheering for a former Separatist citizen. I find this extremely interesting and have been wondering what's your opinion on it GT? As well as others opinions? I wanna hear it.
