That's pretty par for the coarse. There are examples of Primaris Marines thinking that they are superior to Firstborn but for most part the Primaris respect the Firstborns wisdom and experience and genuinely seek to prove them selves as true defenders of humanity.

probably because that's how a range refresh works. at least when they refreshed the Space marine Ranger with Primaris the old models kept their rules and vehicles.

@@raylenn4444 Castellan Crow got new model and he is not Primaris. About Reivers... Chaplains also have skull helmets and in my opinion they are way much cooler
It's pretty crazy how they actually feared being replaced. By a purge or something? Because the Imperium already has way too little manpower to engage in Tomfoolery like this with the old Space Marines. The only way for Primaris to replace the old generation, would be if the older generation simply just freaking d*ed in battle. Otjer than that, Primaris are just the weird little brother with lip piercings.
I mean for some Marines i can see why they feared that, given that their entire Purpose was to replace the Thunder Warriors. The first Legion(s) also helped to put them down, along with the Custodes. So when they saw the Primaris roll up, they didn't think of them as reinforcements but potential replacements, and feared the Primaris would someday recieve the Order to old yeller them the same way they did the Thunder Warriors.
Well you see by giving them new lore they can justify new statlines that meant that dedicated ranged units could out melee their chaos brethren who where dedicated melee. Not only that they can push new models to sell massive amounts of new stuff with awkward rules that make it impossible to track everything. Can give then new plasma guns with better range, better AP etc. Please ignore that it butchers the lore if a beleaguered Imperium that cawl had 20 legions worth of primaris marines using traitor geneseed. All with new better and more expensive gear, fleets of new better vehicles. So with all that the Imperium is still only just retaking ground. Yeah money Machine go brrr Not a fan of primaris, but despite ranting I've nothing against player's who love the army. Just the lore damage is kinda the worst bit
Yep, if the lore justification was needed, why not a new mark of armor. But thats all BS, they had no issue making orks t5, or adding new equipment, or updating models in the past. It's just such an obvious insult to the lore, so inconsistent and so obviously motivated by IP concerns (that it really did nothing to address) and a short term cash grab. People eat up the next great thing, codex creep style, but you can crap on people's goodwill and the integrity of the story structure (which is the backbone of everything) for so long.
I love the Primaris models but will always prefer the firstborn. Since I can do what I want with my army I have some of my Primaris wearing the MKVII helmets (classic Space marine). I also do some conversions to make the primaris models transform into "Astartes".
Actually...I have noticed far more firstborn forces over Primaris lately at my LGS. Yeah at the Warhammer stores the primaris are shoved into your face, but players play what they love. And I am still pissed my local Warhammer store wont let me use a kitbashed Maccharius. Thing is like 95% accurate in height length and width ffs...*grumblegrumblegrumble...*
The armor is taken from the best designs of the older models. The mk3 helmet for primaris for example is far older than the mouth breather helmet of first born.
Now they know how the Imperial guard felt fighting alongside them for generations as the "third wheel normie squad", that usually dies. Least they die standing tho ig...
They had to bring out the Primaris to make the Squats come back, otherwise new players would mix up Firstborn with Squats, because so many of them look like gnarled little Darth Vader babies.
Hey, crossing the Rubicon primaris is a thing, old marine. Maybe stop complaining and try that instead? Thunder warriors didn't even get that option. XD
This is going to be thunder warrior situation. So two things will happen All current space marines except dreadnoughts and marines like the dreadnoughts are to either 1. Continue fighting while Having the time to convert into a primaris or two there’s going to be a new mountain being named.
New head canon makes me believe the new space marines are just like how the UNSC or the grand army of the republic has phases for their soldiers. The older phase of the space marines may be smaller, but they have years of experience to back them up.
Well yes, almost certainly, but the thing with the UNSC is that the Spartan 2s and 3s were physically better than the Spartan 4s, as the Spartan 2s and 3s were indoctrinated as children and received physical and genetic modifications from their early teens upwards, as the scientists behind the Spartan 2 project had determined that an adolescent body would react better to the alterations than and adult one, and this was backed up by their previous Orion project, in which adults were used and the survival/success rate was in the single figures. The Spartan 4s meanwhile where recruited from ODSTS and marines who had served well in combat and who already had lots of experience. Though, due to being adults, the Spartan 4s received much more scaled back augmentations, but the real driving force behind the Spartan 4s was their armour. Due to technological advances (both natural and obtained from covenant tech), the armour was far more advanced than previous models, using nanotech and greater protection overall. So really, in terms of battlefield experience, at the time of halo 5 or halo infinite, all types of Spartan would be pretty close in terms of combat experience, and most would be considered veterans.
I mean aren't the Firstborn not technically being phased out and more slowly being upgraded to Primaris as time goes on? I mean im pretty sure Marneus Calgar and as we've seen of the Space Marine 2 trailer, Titus have both undergone Primaris enhancement
no, wvery chapter was given the way to make their own. they each got a temporary stock of ultramarines, but so long as they maintain their reserve geneseed properly, they will be fine
