I love the idea but I’m still going to go with the fusion one of the biggest reasons they give you the program card at this point I have back ups on my back ups of those and they’re great to have
I put the 2300kv version in my scx10 iii build and am very happy with it, and was not happy about adding another programing card to the tool box though. I have a little pile of the ones that come with the 1080 forming on my workbench.
@@sebbbou5455 Nice, it it's been great. i recently grabbed the new hobbywing fusion pro for a different build pretty much the same but uses the old hobbywing programmer that comes with 1080s. Also not included, but they give you a nice decal to slap over a old programming cards if you have one.
Not commenting on the video, just wanted to swing through and say how much I appreciate all that you do for the rc community. Your passion and commitment is amazing and I sincerely appreciate it.
Bought the 2300kv combo on 10/19/21 and starting today when reverse throttle is applied it stutters/jerks. Emailed spektrum with pics and receipts and a replacement will be shipped when back in stock.... website says February 2022😑😑😑😑 besides the all of a sudden stutter in reverse its worked flawlessly.
Aaaaahhhh! I was gonna say that buying the Combo and programming card separately is kind of a deal breaker. But, having a shorter can may make me get it anyway. Great follow up video!
Wouldn't you want consistency when it comes to downhills. It keeping its throttle position without accelerating with the decline and that's an incredible feature to have when it comes to any sort of down hill. Even if your just cruising. It would mimic a manual transmission vehicle
I have same motor 2300kv love it run on trx4 K5 Blazer it perfect now think of get 1400 kv on wraith since it only one speed might need much torque don’t care for speed but maybe add 2 speed transmission later in future
Since we all know it’s made by Hobbywing for Spektrum, I’m pretty sure with all those hw programming cards out there somebody will try and share if it works fine or not. My hw box works just fine with The Spektrum Firma 40 combo…
I have the same system but.. no matter what i set my drag brake setting at, my truck locks up as soon as i let off the throttle, i use the Spektrum dx5 rugged, what setting does my controler need to be at for my drag brake to work?
I was looking at these motor/esc combo's but went for the hobbywing xerun 540L R2 for the simple fact that all programming is done on a smartphone, and you can do it while running the car. Best feature ever on a ESC.
Shame they made it so proprietary. I have the newest HW program card, and would have grabbed the 2300kv in a heartbeat if it worked with the programmer I have already. Otherwise, great review! thanks MAtt!
I have the 2300 version in my SCX10iii running on 3s .. Anyone used 4s? I know specs say 3s but some things are under rated..... I am going to assume 40A ESC would be the limiting factor here? The motor would prob take it fine but not the ESC I presume however I figured I would ask.... I may just say F it and run it and see how long it lasts... Worse case I can go back to traditional setup which I may want to do anyhow
That program box looks awfully familiar. When I get home I need to pull the part number off the hobbywing one I own and ask if it's compatible. Then again, to my irritation, the Hobbywing ESC program box I have is not compatible with the Hobbywing 1080 forcing me to annoyingly keep multiple programming cards (all my race RC's are Hobbywing ESC's for keeping this simplified).
Okay, is that program box the same as the Hobbywing Multifunction LCD Program Box HWI30502000. Oh wait, you said it still won't work. Gaa, why can't they simplify these things - I want to minimize on things like program boxes. :-(
@@nukedathlonman They can't simplify these things, because they want to make more and more money!! Therefor this Combo makes no sense to me, because it's too expensive in comparison to the Fusion one! The only reason to buy that one is the 3mm shorter length!
I'm trying to find out why both my 2300 firmas run so hot? I'm running on 3s. But trail walk to the rocks, and then crawl 10 minutes, and motor very hot to touch.
No , the motor is out of the truck in my hand. If I run it slow constant it stays fairly cool, then with it all out the temp rises very quickly, I stop it at 118, 120. The thing is it keep climbing in temperature.
The Punch and Max Forward Force options don't show in the app or program card. Any fix for this? Using all the latest software and firmware. Updating. The community might want to know. Matt, if you don't want this let me know or remove. In touch with Horizon Support- they have confirmed that 2300kv and 1400kv motors in their warehouse are bad. The ESC functions are not all working. They have to go back to the maker in China (HW) to investigate. Chinese NY for the next 2 weeks, so I have a $150 paperweight on my bench and who knows when it might get fixed. Thanks Spektrum. My recommendation is to stay away from this product.
interesting, I thought Castle had a patent for programming the esc over the signal wire, and that's why hobbywing used the on/off switch location. Seems that's changed?
Thanks a bunch 👍 Just got one for the base camp kit. Cards ordered now. Pinion gears still on the don’t know what I’m doing plans. But I’m guessing 13t?
@@smokingwraith9990 no personal experience with the spectrum 2 in 1 but I'm using the Hobbywing Fusion 1800kv, I like the simplicity of it, plenty of power as well. I like full interior and the more space and less wires the better imo 👌 I'm sure the spektrum is very similar 😁
Thanks, I've been curious about these. You definitely read my mind in the future by acknowledging the question about this fitting in a VS4-10 Phoenix. I bought a Castle Slate / Mamba X combo but that Spektrum would be such a clean install if it fits
I think that Team Orion was the first to offer this type of system several years ago. The second brand to offer this system was Dynamite a year or so later. Kyosho at one point offered a similar system in some of,their models.
But how waterproof are they. since i love to crawl in creeks and all , i want to make sure it,s waterproof good . so im not on the trail and it kills over from some water , since i do go under in places and not stay above the water .
Hi Matt Being a 540 is a little exciting for the Capra owners out there, I'm looking for a motor and esc combo, not necessarily integrated but did wonder if you know whether this product will fit a Capra
Spectrum is all about the money and not about helping nthe hobby move forward. Ridiculous that you have to get NEW everything. Sticking to HOBBY WING 🤙🏽
Just got one of these, and in the Phoenix VS410 Portal I needed the card to change the direction. Must be the VFDtwin, but I had my transmitter in 'reverse throttle' to go forward until I got the card. I also like the Hobbywing 2in1 better. Just overall it's more configurable (Have that in my capra), and I prefer it over the Spektrum.
Nice system but I have a question about the lights on the G-made l would like to see how you connected all the lights maybe in a video or pictures i just don't have any idea how to connect all the lights if you could be so Kind please 🙂👍🏽
I've noticed the same thing with downhill driving, momentum/ scale speed stability could be better out of the box for those that are super into scale driving . This is really caused by the drivetrain as the motor is doing it's job perfectly and holding an exact constant speed. This effect is reduced with single speed transmissions. And Exacerbated by 2 speed transmissions. If this bothers you like it did me, you may want to set your " throttle matching" to low. Default is medium or high. Low is plenty enough throttle matching to be 100 times better than brushed. What I like about not buying your own card gives some a reason to get out and meet someone new when you ask for help. I met a real nice guy and was able to help him out with his truck. The best part of RC is making new friends! Sure you may have to reverse throttle in your radio and your truck might drive slow until you change the setting in the ESC, but at the end of the day you might make a friend out of it!
Unless you are a spektrum fan, HW is a much better option, (don't tell Matt I told you, but the LED programming card is included with the HW fusion). The great thing is there is a plethora of options from Competition to Axe FOCer's like me. The fusion motors are a nice option, but I've become spoiled with the Bluetooth programming, and is just one of the features that makes me love the AXE system so much, as it is built into the ESC, no dongle or extra card to program. Really makes programming the ESC on the fly a luxury.
AXE FOC R2 have a trailing mode. so when I have my Gen8 Axe out I can switch modes (in the ESC), as I need for the terrain. Trail to the climb, change modes and get to hilling. Joe Dirt central plains, rocks here are a Decorative feature not a natural geological occurrence. ; - }
@@khrisyeet8022 fair, and most radios do that, but, in the case of some brushless motors, the timing is done in such a way that they’re more powerful in one direction.
I'm building a TF2 kit but in the lwb version with the xtracab body. I plan on keeping the leaf spring setup as I love leaf sprung trucks, lol. I'm thinking about using a spektrum setup. If I were to use this 2 in 1,which kv would you pick? Also is there any other spektrum motor and esc you would recommend? I do plan on doing local comps if it matters. Oh and I'm running a gcm transmission. Thanks for your help
I went with the Quicrun fusion 1800kv instead. I feel that hobbywing products are higher quality in my opinion. I already have the esc programmer for my LMT but HH electronics have left something to be desired. Good info though, thanks again
Buying a separate programming card isn't necessarily a deal breaker. Worth it if you will buy the system for more than one rig. I have a stack of programming cards for HW 1080's and only need one. I was wondering if you can switch off the FOC? I actually enjoy throttle(trigger) management for "driving".
You said in the video you’d like to see a 3300kv version. Now they have it but I’ve seen comments that it’s more for a basher than crawler. Your thoughts?
I just bought 2 of the hobbywing fusion se 1800kv 2in1 motors they are great and they fit in the vanquish phoenix with no mods the whole unit is only 58.1 mm long its shorter than the fusion pro which doesnt fit the phoenix
Do you think I could wire two of those up together to run 2 Motor on axle for a Bully2? I think I can bring the two battery connectors into one connector for one battery and I can use mixing to control both throttles from separate channels. Any thoughts with that? Thanks.
@@scalebuildersguild It’s for a Bully2 comp crawler with a 3s 1500mah lipo on the front. I don’t want to add weight to the rear and there is no room anyway. I get about 1 hour run time with brushed motors. That’s long enough. I just ordered 2 of these brushless 2 in 1’s anyway. I’ll make a video on it for some MOA action. I thought even if they are heavier, the weight is down low, and the FOC should make control awesome. I am making a parallel harness basically to run off one battery. I’ll hide the harness with the receiver in the cab of the Bully. It should be real clean in the end. Looks like I’ll probably have two on off switches though. Kinda weird how they wire those only as a giant push button. Thanks for your help.
Pretty crappy Horizon put some sort of blocker in it so it can’t use the Hobbywing program card. They had to have physically made it that way as everything else is basically Hobbywing except for the color
That's a great thing to do to a summit , I just sold mine , to get a hpi nitro Savage , Kev , I really would like to see a nitro video at that site your on , in this video , take a look at the Savage , they have a E version too !
any opinion on this Spektrum 2 in 1 vs the Fusion Pro V2? Looks like the updated version is the same dimensions and just .2oz heavier. Looking for a new motor for my TF2 Marlin with the A7M skid and transfer case flipped for OD, so brushed motors are smoking! Was looking at Holmes motors but at the $150 price i may as well do one of these!
@@scalebuildersguild do you run a sensored brushless in your TF2 Marlin? I keep being told with the A&M skid and flipped transfer case with that aggressive OD i should run brushless sensored to prevent more electrical failures. I have a spare purple BL 540 1800 and mini V2 i could drop in, but have been hesitant since i keep being told to run a sensored motor. Otherwise considering a Standard Puller PRO V2 2200 and copperhead, but would like a ten shooter if i could swing it.
Great video, not sure if this question was ask or not, have you tried the Hobbywing version program card, since its HW that makes them for Spektrum ?? Thanks !!
I am thinking of getting this or a similar 2 in 1 motor/ESC for my new SCALE build RC Speedy LMT Monster truck. I am more interested in eliminating the ESC from being seen versus pure performance. Any thoughts on the 2300 KV - 2 in 1 for my application or maybe the Hobbywing? Thanks -Great vid's as always
@@scalebuildersguild Phoenix fully built tranny without motor. Remove spur and 2 screws holding motor plate to tranny. Install 2in1 motor to motor plate and reassemble. Easy peasy!
Great video. Always enjoy them. Just so you know. Put one in my phoenix and it fit without any modifications. Just took a min. Thanks for all you do for the hobby. .
Thanks for the video! I thought about putting one of these in my son's Gladiator. He does more driving around the street and grass than actual rock crawling. Would the 2300 be the one to get in this case, or should I get the 1400?
