The only top 1 type levels I could get excited for would be impossible levels or unique top 1s like Ascension to Heaven

The main problem is that theres too many top 1s oversaturating what could be good as a fairly hard level rather than a hardest level. The levels that are good are overtaken by the countless top 1s that are layouts, they are just there, made for fun, or there for capitalizing on the trend.

Honestly, A top 1 thats main focus is on spider, ufo, or robot would be cool! Not many hard levels focus on those and it would be interesting. As long as it isn't just frame perfects or spam.

I started making a top 1 before Firework or Slaughterhouse were verified, and by just keeping the difficulty as is, we might make Top 5. As a community, this is crazy.

Top 1s used to being exciting but since about 2020 way to much top 1s have been coming out like remember how much hype there was for bloodlust and zodiac? And now you look at slaughterhouse or aod and it’s cool but I don’t really care that much since it’s not as exciting

I'm glad to see more people get tired of this. Stormfly already made this point abundantly clear that he doesn't like how stuff is going. I don't wanna put words in his mouth, but this issue is getting worse and worse. Back then when Zodiac was #1, top ones before and a little after were small. Today, it's just hell.

I think the real reason why most of us are sick of “upcoming top 1s” is that none of them are original. Even my favorite upcoming top 1 (ascension to heaven) is just made for fun until they decided to take it a lot more seriously. I mean why else are sick of slaughterhouse remakes. I think a top 1 should symbolize gd extreme demons as a whole since they are the most viewed extreme demons. Honk bloodlust during it’s era or icdx when every other levels look the same. Also if you want to make a level/layout that looks impossible but don’t want to be mislabeled as top 1, say it in the description of the video and don’t let replay channels replay your level.

I just wish something would happen with the list at least, idk how it would be done but maybe something new like trustas. I feel as though people who now have jobs or full time school, the list has made it almost impossible to beat anything on it considering time constraints. Maybe someone will create a new version soon that will become more popular than the current one. I also feel like the current top ten requires/influences players to beat the levels in an unhealthy way mentally, and physically, due to the stress and amount of hours it requires one to sit at a computer.

The whole community is focused on always pushing out number 1 extreme demons, this is a problem that no one really talks about. Top 1 extreme demons are for top players to verify and they can only do it properly, top 1 extreme demons have always been the focus of the community (for idrk what reason) but they just aren't fun, at all. Not all people can verify Slaughterhouse or well..any top 1 demon, good extreme demons can be something like artificial ascent and others. This whole community is stuck into a whole trend of just making number 1's instead of just actually making some fun extreme demons. Im not hating, if i were i would have said something far worse than this, i care about this community but this is just getting absurd. Where did the fune extreme demons go dude?

Top 10s I only want to see verified soon Return 0 Eternal Night ATH EOD TAT but why is it taking so long its been 6 years they havent fully showcased it yet. The project started 2016 before 2.1 was released, and it only has a limited obj count of 300K. (dark odyssey obj count) Limbo with 500K objs started Feb 2020 and only got fully showcased after 2 years of work.

In my opinion, what we need is some software where players/creators can share layouts for deco, levels for verification or similar (like LinkedIn for GD). I think this would mean a lot of the spammy, clickbaity top 1s would be flushed out automatically because so many unknown but skilled creators could easily be discovered. This would mean we would get more decorated levels of good quality, not more mass produced creator point farms, and it would be easier to find fun verification projects as well. No one would bother verifying some random level from a view-hungry video because more superior projects would be at an arms reach

I agree with everything in the video. I miss the time when extremes were famous from being good insted of being famous because they are hard.

My main issues is how there's so many top 1s and how most top 1s are made for the sake of being a top 1. I'm gonna sound like a whiny bitch when I say this but 2.0 era had times where a top 1 was something to be hyped about because a new hard level was rare at the time and people would be hyped to see it happen, even if the gameplay is less than favorable. The whole Bloodlust and Plasma Pulse Finale thing, Sonic Wave finally being verified after years, the verification of Yatagarasu, it just goes on really. The last top 1 I actually somewhat cared for was probably Zodiac mostly due to that's probably when the saturation of top 1s was starting to happen. Nowadays, there's so many "Future Top 1s" that I just kinda glance and forget about it because there's so many top 1s for the sake of being top 1 that it's hard to find the unique and interesting ones when all of them are usually top 1 for the sake of it. I seen a few great ones but most of them just feel "there" with no real value or history (like maybe impossible levels being verified) other than "wow hard level". I didn't even watch the video yet why am I fucking writing this actually. UPDATE: Yeah I really agree with your points. Especially the point of new 1s being unique.

the problem with 'upcoming top 1s' for me is that for the most part they aren't upcoming top 1s. creators slap the 'top 1' label on their unfinished ass layout thinking they can predict the future and know that the verifier will definitely go through with the verification and 100% be placed above slaughterhouse as if the creator knows ANYTHING about how hard these levels are. remember tartarus, stayed top 1 for 2 years, despite so many 'upcoming top 1s' being showed? wonder what happened there i thought we were getting top 1s notice how tartarus was topped? slaughterhouse, skc, and aod. levels where the VERIFIER chose to push themselves to the top 1 potential not the creator who has no fucking clue and wants their half assed layout to get attention

I’m in the small group of people that likes top ones (good or bad). Work put into levels should be recognized and respected and not shit on because the level want to be a top one. Though I also agree that there is an extreme over saturation of using “top one” as a way to farm views.

A little concept in my head was a top 1, but instead of that being the main point, the creator of the level would be unknown and it basically being a scavenger hunt to find the creator of the level. This makes the creator largely more respected then the level they made since everyone needed to find who they are, Or tbh some other concept to push the annoying top 1 view magnet aside.

Make 90% of the upcoming top 1s beginner or extended list extremes and then they will be fun to play instead of these top 1 wrist breaking levels

It’s “survivorship bias” at work. Have you ever heard of “Demonic Bass” by Miniman2098, “Ruined Journey” by KeiAs and more, or “Geminorum” by Feko9? I actually wasn't never excited for new Top 1, especially because nobody will pass or even make 1%. I only looked to some upcoming Top 1 because they have really good decoration, or at least a revolutionary thing, such as EoJ or Return 0. Upcoming Top 1 become a part of the community, so now everyone is doing that. However, most of that levels has some standard decorations and awful gameplay, and not enjoyable at all. The case of Ascension to Heaven, the layout were just made for fun, and it's actually a beautiful level even if it's only a decorated layout. But they took it to decorate (and tbh, the decoration isn't as good as expected, it isn't clean at all and it "blinds" the gameplay). Ok, probably I'm talking too much, and it looks like I'm saying exactly what does the video say, or that I'm looking for some likes or whatever, but it's my opinion. Top 1 sucks, it is only good if it's something revolutionary

And what I hate about Upcoming 1s is that some of them are hell themed, like bro this crappy theme is overrated and also most of them use a lot of glow (💀) and some of those are layouts.
