Seriously, I've only listened the lore and names of Runeterra from tft and LoR. The constant rewrite of canon made it really difficult to keep up with.

@@chaolinpescain he actually did quite a few Legends of Runeterra streams and his gameplay and familiarity with lore was super solid. Very excited to see him be the bridge between communities when this game is finally done.

She was blocking low and he was still in the air (albeit very very low) so I think it was just that she blocked wrong. Went frame by frame on it.

But the mechanics here are far more Cross Tag than MvCI. MvCI doesn't have assists, it just has the ability to tag in any time - even while getting hit, but at the cost of meter then. BBTag has assists, multiple assists per character that you get to use all of (rather than picking one of as in most other team fighters), lets you switch characters very quickly any time while the assist is on screen, and has a burst that brings in your second character to perform it. Project L took all of those mechanics, not MvCI's.

That's one place I know riot will deliver

I'm looking forward to seeing if Thresh or Pyke can come into the roster, love me the hook ability champs. Especially Thresh, the potential that can be done with his lantern ability and the tag team mechanic.

I don't know how Riot handles other games but Legends of Runeterra is really good, it doesn't even feel like a f2p game a lot of times. You can build an entire deck every 2 to 3 weeks. They only do expansions every other month which is around the same frequency as other card games, and don't do emergency updates unless certain decks show too much play/win rate. So I'm not worried too much for Project L's f2p status.

@@spammerman7556 Expansions every other month sounds insane to me, as someone who spent a long time playing Hearthstone, and wound up leaving it in part (although there were many other reasons) because expansions grew more frequent. Granted, the ones they added were smaller ones in between the three yearly main expansions, which they call mini-expansions, but still. At the end of the day, I don't think it matters to me how much you can get in what period of time. It matters to me that the games are grindy and trying to make you feel like you have to play a certain amount every day to keep up. Daily tasks in and of themselves have become a red flag for me, and I've yet to see a F2P game without those. I want to be playing the game solely because I enjoy it, for as much or as little time as I feel like; I've come to hate game mechanics that are designed to try to get me to do otherwise. They actively make me enjoy my time with the game less. And I wind up asking myself: why should I play a game with features that dampen my enjoyment like that when others that lack those feature are out there?

Coming from a league player, if they handle it the same way then you'd probably just get all the characters after a week or so of casual play, assuming that the roster is not that big on release of course, they usually focus all their monetization on overpriced cosmetics.

I haven't played League since maybe 2010-ish, but I will be all over this if I can play as best boi Kog'Maw. I know it's not likely, but we'll see who all makes the cut over time.

Yeah, but it's being made by the guys who started Evo. I wouldn't worry too much. They know fighting games and the fgc better than anybody, and have basically been playing the genre since its inception.

We just don't cuddle riot like the fgc cuddles their devs since lol literally can't fail regardless how much we bitch about it. Esports are most deffinitly is taken in a more serious way but that makes sense since they were the ones to turn esports from a joke on shit tv shows to a real industry.

They talk at the end of the video about talking with fgc event planners/ coordinators or something so it's likely they will try to make it as comfortable as possible for fgc since it's a huge demographic that isn't getting enough love. I am familiar with fighting games somewhat but not knowledgeable so I can only say so much

Gonna be honest you said a lot...but said nothing. You just said you had a feeling that some things are off when someone else talks to you about how riot runs their tournaments? That barely makes sense. It would be fine if you simply said that you did not like that they were so hands on with their eSports. In which case, that makes sense and is totally understandable.

I think it will feel a lot less corporate just because the game by its nature is more focused on players than teams

It's the same player switching characters, though there could possibly be a separate mode for multiple players on the same team of characters like Dragon Ball Fighterz has
