What I learnt: Generosity brings great merit. While we don't have the Tathāgata to give to, we do have the Sangha an if we're not close to the Sangha, there are plenty of starving, homeless beings (Humans an Animals) who could use a helping hand. Generosity opens the heart, freeing it from malice (ill-will), leading to Metta (Loving-kindness). May all be well and happy. :)

There is this gut instict within me, you can call it magical thinking or whatever, that it all has to make sense, that good comes to good and evil comes to evil, that the good guys win in the end and the bad guys get punished. That Cinderella will get the prince and her abusive stepmother and step sisters get what they deserve. It gets me through the hard days. And that is why I like stories like this.

It's like the reason why people loved princess Diana. She came from a humble background, she was a simple girl (who I think worked as a housemaid ? ) , and suddenly she was the princess of Wales, and she did good and gave to those in need, and even hugged people with HIV back when the craze was at its peak. People long for that feeling of Cosmic Justice.

Knowing how this story ends, it seems like it would have been better for her to receive protection or more developed virtue than a social status that would eventually lead her to hell rebirths.

Mallika is not a beautiful girl. She is a very dark skiner because of her early life carrier. For feather readings Dhammapadattaktha & Mallika sutta. 😊
