BABY REINDEER SPOILER ALERT!
As a Training Psychologist, I answer some of the lingering concerns and questions people have after watching the show AND also discuss the psychological FALLOUT that can happen now that the REAL MARTHA has gone on Piers Morgans Show.

Yess! Especially because he is one of the main roots and catalyst for Richard/Donny’s issues. It’s wild because Martha became the biggest focus in the series but the producer is the real villain here!

I’m still on the fence with this one. I don’t doubt Richard was stalked and was a victim but after watching Fiona on Piers there is no doubt in my mind that she has some mental health issues. I don’t want to make judgement on either because we are watching this story only through Richard’s eyes and a Netflix’s production (after watching Harry and Megan’s liefest portrayed as factual hmm) and since no reporter can find any evidence that Fiona has a criminal record never mind been in prison I think it would be irresponsible to make judgement until the facts are known. For me Netflix failed to protect the identity of this unstable woman and has shown NO evidence that they did their due-diligence in checking Richard’s account and if it turns out Fiona never went to prison then how can we believe any of this film - it would end up just another liefest!

I can totally see your point! It is very much a one sided perspective. We don’t know how much has been embellished in this series. I think this is also why they classified the show as a drama to allow for the creative writing. Whilst it may be *based* on fact all we can know for sure is that they are both suffering from mental health issues. It’s a great show for bringing light to the impact of trauma but absolutely we should caution how much we believe it depicts the real individuals.

Clever comment. I agree. Surely it is a matter of public record if she was convicted of a crime? If it turns out they've lied about that, then the rest is questionable. Plus misogyny appears to be alive and well, as many opinions about her seem to be based entirely on her appearance.

I'm semi qualified psych as well, and your analyses are very good. Just subbed😎 p.s as an r victim myself, I understand Richards reluctance to report.....cos the moment you do that it becomes way more real and you start being labelled as a victim.....

Thank you for your sub and comment too! You’re absolutely right - Reporting these things really isn’t an easy decision and there is a huge fallout that can follow. The labelling, the blaming, the self-doubt… so many things. I feel you babe! It’s far more complicated than many understand.

Either she was convicted of a crime, or she wasn't, and I think that is where the crux of the matter is.

Valid point. In the series we see Martha being convicted but I’ve recently learned in Richard Gadds theatre productions from 5 years ago, Martha wasn’t arrested… supposedly he decided it wouldn’t be fitting considering he wasn’t completely innocent himself. So there certainly are discrepancies.

@@psycholotea I read that Richard has spoke publicly that the storyline for the series was changed around arrest and incarceration. On the other hand, I also read that Nextflix was provided documention of emails, etc.

@@shoshanadana9009 how interesting! It’s becoming harder to decipher fact from fiction in this series. It makes sense why this is a drama. I suppose the genre provides certain narrative allowances like embellishments of the truth.

Honestly find it disgusting how so much analysis boils down to whether he brought this on himself somehow. If this was gender reversed this would be so different

It is a shame that this is a thing, I completely agree. Although I would say that even gender reversal doesn’t change this. I think a good example of this is when women get partially blamed for sexual assault because of how revealing their clothing was. Sadly it happens far more frequently than it should.
