Mike was raised from 12 to be world champion , like a pitbull, a beast, by Cus DAmato. He trained twice a day every day. He went through hypnosis sessions. Sports psychologists. Cus talked to him every night, motivating him. And he had one in a million genetics, he was bench pressing 185lbs at 13 years old. Last but not least, he came from Brownsville and was tough as nails and antisocially violent. It was a perfect storm to create a world champion, and unlikely to be repeated.

Sorry but bench pressing not even your bodyweight at 13 is not 1 in a million genetics. But he was also way stronger than that. There was a story in iron ambition about Mike actualky benching 250lb at 13, and he was about 190 himself at that point.

Also everybody has a different approach to those Kind of things. Mike doesn't seem like he is a guy who needs alot of hugs tbh. What amazes me most of all is the beautiful arc of Mike's journey, and how now later in life he has become sage and gentle, a warrior in the garden. To me, he represents a fully realized person, one who has expereicned the highest highs and some of the lowest lows. HIs fights were legendary and his style inspirational, but I'm glad the warrior has finally come home.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:30 🥊 Mike Tyson's early interest in the lives and philosophies of conquerors like Alexander the Great and Machiavelli contributed to his rapid rise as a world champion boxer. 01:15 💔 Despite a traumatic childhood and a history of arrests and bullying, Tyson's early life experiences fueled his determination to succeed. 02:32 🥇 Tyson's professional boxing career took off under the guidance of trainer Cus D'Amato, who helped him become the youngest heavyweight world champion in history. 04:11 💪 Tyson's disciplined training regimen, including thousands of sit-ups, push-ups, and more, emphasized the importance of endurance and discipline in achieving success. 06:05 🔥 Tyson's early life challenges and traumas didn't cripple him but instead helped him become comfortable with discomfort and build resilience. 07:36 🌟 Confidence, according to Tyson, is earned through adversity and training, not just through positive affirmations. 08:44 🏆 Tyson's obsession with his goal of being the best in the world and his willingness to make sacrifices were key to his success. 10:13 😱 Tyson used fear as a psychological weapon, instilling fear in his opponents to gain an edge in the ring. 12:04 ⚠️ Tyson's life took a downturn with legal issues, recklessness, and addiction, highlighting the need to adapt to life's unpredictability. 14:32 🔄 Tyson's journey included embracing his darker side and facing his past, leading to personal growth and a better understanding of life. 15:25 🌞 Tyson learned that the purpose of life is to love something greater than yourself, appreciate every moment, and embrace self-discovery. Think about this, Mike Tyson's career ended in a bit of a golden age for heavyweight boxers. Fighters like Evan Holyfield, Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis all outshined him as his star waned. And yet, in 2023, there is no boxer more famous or relevant in the world than Mike Tyson, with the only possible exception being the legendary Muhammad Ali. But aside from Ali, there's Tyson and that's it. The most popular active boxer in the world was named after Tyson, and he just fought a man whom Tyson trained. Mike Tyson's continued impact on popular culture isn't an accident. For a long time, the public treated him like he was a thug, an animal, but his longevity has proven he had wisdom far beyond nearly all of those people who judged him for so many years.
