Okay looking back on this it sounds so much like a cheesy early 90's sitcom theme song

You're right. Such is the case with many instrumentals. Gillis poured his soul into The Raccoons and it wasn't hard to tell. They were an embodiment of a dream that he just had to create, an idea he had to see realized. This soundtrack is a bit of a funny story on my part. I had always really loved "Run With Us" when I was a kid and this soundtrack was someone's attempt to buy me a copy back then but they didn't realize that song wasn't included on this album so in turn as a kid, it never got much play and remained in near perfect condition. Fast forward decades and adult me developed the appropriate appreciation for the compositions on this record and I thought best to give it to the world like this. This track specifically though, echoed through many of, if not most of the episodes and animated specials usually when an event or whatever that had gone wrong was taking a positive turn or the story was coming together and I think that's why this track in particular holds true to so many fans.

@Elijah Hechtman Assuming the tape has been cared for as I'm sure it has. I'd say you'll have some fantastic audio tracks. Digital tape often exceeds CD sampling rates. What's there could potentially be beautiful.

I don't know about you, but I think this intro music was heard in Captain Punjab's videos.

I had to Google exactly what a Captain Punjab is. And it does appear that he has used some music from this show in his Thomas the Tank Engine videos

I don't have that one, sorry. The Raccoons really did have some beautiful and underrated musical compositions throughout the show and specials. Probably one of the reasons it's hung onto me and me to it all these years. I have many favorite cartoons from this era but The Raccoons have their own special shelf in the archives of my mind as something that, unlike the others like He-Man, Thundercats and such, hasn't aged and only remains as it was. Time can't touch it and I like to think it's the writing and the music, and also the care behind the project that allows it to hold true like that. I like to think that masters of every song ever produced for this show are safely stowed away under Gillis' care somewhere as I know the animation cells are. The Raccoons are near the dear to their creator and that might make all the difference.

@@BetamaxKing Agreed! I hope someday all of it gets released or maybe remade. I'd heard Gillis was looking at a reboot of The Raccoons a few years ago but haven't heard anything since then. I never thought I'd hear any of these songs on this album and always went back to the full Lost Star TV movie to hear them. This instrumental I now listen to frequently (as well as all the other uploads you've shared with us from this album), as it has always and will always take me back to a simpler place and time. (from my perspective) I'm subscribing for more great tunes! Thanks & Cheers!

@@ajfox96 Well, thank you. Getting this album on here had been something I'd been meaning to do for a long time. I'm thankful for the enjoyment it continues to bring to you and others and thankful to my childhood self for not ruining it. It would be great to see a "Songs of The Raccoons" collection released. Maybe it will happen to push the remake. There's two different visual styles of possible remakes out there now. The first looked closer to the original than the most recent imagery which I'm personally not a fan of. Gillis is working with Big Jump Entertainment on the project. I can only imagine that, for him at least, the reboot will have to be really good or he'll never let it see network television. He's got no interest in destroying the franchise. I'd personally be happy to see him dust off the old cells, digitize them and truely bring back the old Raccoons as they were, even if it were just for a Christmas special or something to test the reception.

That's what this was but I've heard rumors that they may release a compilation album of music from the show and specials.

@@BetamaxKing Gene Wilder inspired me to persue film and televison. Willy Wonka was the first ever film that introduced me to him. My parents abandoned me a lot as a kid and his films would always fill up the loneliness. I hope to help others the way TV and film helped me. And imagine having connections to him- that would help me a lot getting my foot in the industry! I wish! But no, it is legally my last name (coincidentally) and I am - as far as I know - of no relation to him. Although people think I might be related to Julia Louis-Dreyfus because I have strikingly similar features to her. Lastly, I have Gene Wilder as my profile picture because I'm a fan of him and his work. He and Richard Pryor were probably the greatest comedic duo in the 20th century (in my opinion at least). As great as he was on set he was amazing off set. Really chill and cool guy. My wildest fantasy is sitting down with him for a coffee or whatnot and have him go over my script and see what he thinks. And just get to know him as a person.

@@ameliawilder28 That's so cool Amelia. I too admire the man for his cinematic contribution to comedy. He would have truely been somebody fascinating to sit and talk over coffee with. Do you work in film? It's an industry I've always admired but lived on the sidelines of. An enthusiast, you could say... Funny how this little archive project here has connected me to it a little and some of what I've saved has found its way before the eyes of a few significant people from the industry.
