I love the idea of the xenocides being human/aliens who dont want to be imperialized. I want the story to be that the lost primarch's sin was just "we need to stop father, this is madness" And big E is like "BUT MAH VIZONS" as hes one to do.
The Rangdan gives an XK-class end of the galaxy/universe SCP vibe, probably being both memetic and material in nature. Except, instead of threatening one relatively backward planet of humans, it's threatening a galactic power. *And it realised its mistake too late*
One of the best theories around the Rangda and the Lost Primarch is that the infant Primarch landed in Rangdan space and was used against the Imperium in the war as a slave. His Legion was then relegated to both Fists and Ultramarines, having done nothing wrong. The 'Forgotten Primarch'...who knows...could've landed in a warp soaked Hellhole, kept his shit tight...corrupted his Legion...and was found out and wiped out by the Wolves, with the history of this being wrapped up in the purgation of information around the Rangdan history.
It’s nice to see the rangdan xeno wars get more attention their often overlooked and there is a theory that the rangdan were running from the tyranids . It also goes to show how powerful the imperium and dark angels were at their zenith
Fun Game!: Re-read the basic descriptions of the Rangda, their tactics, their classifications, and even their navy. Replace the names of the different assets and forms with terms with those you see used for a different faction's forces constantly in 40k. Ask yourself why the Rangda are described as "utterly anathema to the Imperial Truth, and as such needed to be erased even from history," and yet there were a great many groups with truly deep faith in gods being happily given time to overcome their old faiths before joining the Imperium. Why was Sanguinius so convinced that his father would eliminate him, as he had one of his brothers, due to the Thirst that rendered his sons a threat to other humans. By the way - The novel series for the Xenocides will begin releasing this next year. Graham McNeil will be the opening author with the first of an estimated 6 books.
@@MacroLore True, it does sting a bit for some of the older lore to be changed over time. However, instances such as this are less really changes, and are more Games Workshop capitalizing on purposely vague lore. All through the Horus Heresy _(Which was, itself, always a purposely vague topic that has now been fleshed out)_ they alluded to the fact that there was something very wrong with the story of the Xenocides. They also laid the groundwork, over the last 11 years, to set up two different situations as being obviously wrong with the story as told so far... The Xenocides and Russ being the Emperor's Executioner. Both of those will be answered over the next few years.
@@MacroLoreI like to think I’m pretty well versed on warhammer lore, I’m just not seeing what he’s saying the rangda are. The only faction I can think of that regularly use human slaves as cannon fodder is chaos. Yu’vath?
It could have been worse. Look at the bright side. Atleast the Rangdan weren't as deadly as something say like the Trisolarans, the Qu, or a Hegemizing Swarm from the Culture. Those would be pretty extremely devastating on different magnitudes. Even a force like the Zerg at this point would have been pretty bad for the Imperium in the Great Crusade because they wouldn't have had the resources and demographic manpower to deal with those things at the time. The Zerg would infest world after world and the Great Crusade probably wouldn't be able to route them out as the Zerg numbers increase.
@@MacroLore I am aware. But I didn't list Xeelee Sequence factions in this comment for it would be too obvious and repetitive after a while. So instead I mentioned other factions majority of people do not know about. There are two series which could match Xeelee Sequence factions like the Civilization from Lensman's universe and Faction Paradox. The Civilization is so large it could fight the Interim Coalition of Governance on equal grounds of resource production and demographic population size. And in Faction Paradox there is a beast...a creature so enormously huge in Faction Paradox it would put the Xeelee's Ring project to shame. It is literally bigger then Super Tengen Gurren Lagann from Gurren Lagann. It is called a Leviathan in universe. And to call it galactic size is a huge undermining understandment to the totality of this creature's sheer scale.
