The thing weve seen is individual worlds in th imperium are perfectly willing to skirt the rules fir their own gain, at least unless its a daot ship then they just mindlessly kill with out a first thought let alone a second. If the tau can integrate themselves then the unsc can as well.
I don't know if they'd be willing to use Spartan tech well the tech that turnsyou into a Spartan, but imagon if the sisters of battle decided they were cool with Spartan tech. They'd become even more terrfing than they already are since they already can use some if not most of the marines arsenal already.
