I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
New rule suggestion: anyone talking shit about a top rank player with comments like “no way this is above red” “if this is god ranks this game ass and scrubby as hell” gotta drop their Tekken ID and get reviewed in future episodes or take a week long timeout
lmao the chat being like "look at these red rank scrubs" watching shadow20z. goes to show people focus on the wrong thing sometimes. probably saw the yoshi walk into a couple of counter-hits, not realising that the yoshi probably wasn't being ignorant of the strings ending but rather assumed shadow wouldn't finish the strings. the patience, pressure, movement, and combos were all top level in that round
I think to the untrained eye, the focus is on movement and conversions, and is often why people view combo heavy games favorably even if the gameplay isn't technically high (but people feel powerful.) These are great! Thanks for new types of content!
The biggest thing i learned from this his how little respect Tekken players have for each others' gameplay. Mfs prolly in orange rank saying Shadow couldnt be any higher than red 💀 no appreciation for the conversions or pressure whatsoever
Currently in blues (stopped playing ranked) it’s been very interesting to see I intuitively know how my competition plays. From purples to blues I guessed them all right on the dot. But anything outside and I’m a dummy. Guessing reds for emperors and reds for combatants smh
22 Points. I'm finding movement is a pretty reliable tell - even if KBD isn't as good in this game, seeing how much they move and whether or not they're trying to position themselves to be in a certain spot is still a good way to see who knows what they're doing in most of these
last one was a blowout and this one started rough with a strong zero on the first I think 4 rounds. Got a solid streak and ended at 52. Was really conservative at first to avoid losing points but it's cool being able to recognise the little things in a player's gameplay that can hint at them being higher rank even when they're getting smoked lol
21 pts, i was usually guessing lower than their rank and only lost points twice. I thought the God reina was lower because of all the unsafe options they went for, which even mixed me.
I refuse to believe that Xiaoyu and that Nina didn't end up way higher than their ranks by now. What's a Nina doing 4 clean kbds on a backsway character doing at Garyu.
35 but i'll fully admit anything above Red/Ruler Rank was really hard to guess for me lmao, i didnt get a single God Rank right, but eventually was starting to see the vision for Blue Players.
46 i believe, got into a flow state or something idk. Some of those God of Destruction matches actually break my tiny red rank brain. High level Tekken really is a different game lol
Lowkey some of those people in chat are definitely trolls or people who don't even play T8, tryna call the claudio vs yoshi match an orange or red when he clearly was using frame traps and trying to step for off axis conversions is crazy.
Got 30 guessing based on whether I’d expect to run into that type of play on ranked or not. Underguessed a lot of gods/purples because some of the mod/high Blues I see are just nasty with it lol. Also lowballed a lot expecting there to be a bit more variety.
I'm jealous of these people's net play. The red ranks and purple ranks I face are filled with people with optimal combos and can consistently break throws...
RIGHT??? I know I'm ass but that was... Incredibly awful 😭 Literally ZERO labbing experience, *AND* no tech on the giant swing! I was SO SURE they were AT MOST Yellow 😭😭😭
I haven't played T8 online yet, were ranks inflated going from T7 to T8 like they were in SF going from SFV to SF6? I had tons of friends stuck in green or yellow ranks for years who have made it to orange or even red ranks without any fuss just like in SF6 my friends and I who were stuck in Gold/Plat hit Masters with sub-50% winrates. I played a lot of T7 and plan to play T8 too but I'm curious.
44 points, this system is so much easier than the first parts for SURE I always gotta be careful with the new characters because the legacy skill against their strings just doesn't exist yet, you can be playing this shit for decades and the new character on the block jails you in an unknown string and that's your life.
Ima take my L two questions in… shit lmao. Of course there’s hundreds of factors going into ranked, but one thing that gets lost on replay - one of the things to look for in higher ranks is crisper movement, but that gets lost in a laggy match and it definitely doesn’t get displayed in a replay video
I'd love to see a street fighter one. I think the ranks will be more entertaining because I feel like players reach higher ranks than they should in that game. I'm not super good so I'm stuck in plat right now and I keep running into the most scrubby beginner player shit possible in ranked still
Yeah this round was WAY easier. I got 38, last time I think I got like 6 lmaooo Edit: The strat is I never guessed above blue lmao. Every GoD game I guessed blue, and everything below that I guessed pretty correctly. Telling cuz I'm a blue rank I guess LOOOL
35. The trick was to not guess when the players are playing low-key scrubby. They could be green, red or ruler depending on volume of matches played and we don't know that.
This is kinda pointless after the prowess matchmaking changes sadly. You can be a Tekken God and be stuck 100 games in purple fighting only people Kishins-Supremes on their mains. Not to mention many people smurfing now because of it.
