One time, Mamamoo played a game. Hwasa was blindfolded and she has to recognize her members by touching them. She instantly recognized Wheein coz she said, when she touched Wheein's arm, it's hairy (fine hairs). Another thing, Wheein has crooked teeth (bottom). here's how you know the kpop industry is a psychological meat grinder: despite the visuals and talent that runs in some idols' families, it is extremely rare for an idol to have a sibling in the industry. once you've seen what a child puts up with in the business, you won't let another one do it as well. idols go through some soul-crushing bullshit for our entertainment.

Sometimes you can see the hip padding through outfits, or they have different body types within one week of promoting. How did so many people not notice this? I wish more idols had the courage to say no to fillers since they dissolve and migrate to other parts of the face eventually. If you see a lot of 2nd gen idols including those in A list groups like TVXQ, SNSD or SUJU you can tell their faces are melting away because of the constant upkeep that's needed after fillers (and PS). Fillers NEVER age well and come back to haunt you. It’s funny … because. Like the more humans try to appear perfect, whatever that is - the less I am attracted to them. Like as an example, I really like SHINee. And the reason I liked the members so much was they didn’t try to appear so freaking perfect. Bts too (not my taste but it they’re cool) try to show flaws on purpose. Taehyung showing his armpit hair haha. SHINee member key being bare face and wearing a face mask sitting in pajamas. Unfortunately I can not give any examples for female artists. Because they can’t be as “free” on camera as the male idols. For several reasons. But like, just the mv itself. It has to be so freaking flawless. Their skin is edited. Everything is airbrushed to such a degree that they don’t really look human sometimes. I don’t like this perfect image. Humans like flaws. It’s ATTRACTIVE. A scar. A freckle. Odd shapes. Features that doesn’t look identical to others. No one wants to see perfection.

@TheOriginalJellicle 3 года назад
I think there the point is to make it obvious that it's *not* the idol's skin in that area that people are seeing. Any clothing that appears too skimpy with flesh-coloured undies would get the idols (specifically female idols) criticised for "showing" that much skin, and would also encourage creeps who might actually believe it's their upper thigh or sideboob or whatever that they're seeing. Black safety shorts etc make it obvious that the idol's modesty is still protected (which is a whole other can of worms).
@juzo526
@juzo526 3 года назад
@@TheOriginalJellicle indeed your comment is very wise. But let’s think about Korea’s woman standards. Remember that in that country it’s very different from America and women prefer to be more covered even tho they are not idols. Personally I think it’s something dumb, because woman have the right to be free and show whatever they want without feeling bad about they’re body. But there in Korea it’s something that it’s very difficult to change. The majority of those people have very low self confidence (there’s another word for that but English is not my first language) and they do a lot of surgery....have you seen the transformations of those people 😟 it’s even frightening because they look totally different. They wanna look like lmao this is an example don’t come for me but “anime characters” the perfect chin, double eyelids and an exaggerated skinny body. There has even been protests in the country for that reason because it’s killing people you can even look it up. There’s videos here in RU-vid of fans concerned about their idols weight.

yeah i think it’s usually the broadcasting station’s rules, like they can’t show beyond this part etc. i do hate it, because i think one of the rules is no cleavage and it’s kinda obvious that the stylists try to mend or make clothes that cover the cleavage completely, even for idols with bigger chests like twice jihyo. i say it’s obvious because e.g. in one of her alcohol free stages, she has a top that seems to cover way higher than where i would naturally expect it to cover, and it looked a little awkward (imo at least). and i hate this rule because it contributes to the idea that cleavage = sex/sexualization and therefore, any woman with cleavage can be sexualized which i highly disagree with. cleavage is just part of a woman’s chest, that doesn’t mean a man can sexualize her. also, the part about not wanting perverts to look at them, well, women shouldn’t have to cover up for that. that’s on them being sex crazed and disgusting, why should women have to change themselves for it? also, no one gets to decide if they want to “protect” women from pervs, be it someone on the internet or a broadcasting company. miss me with that argument. women can decide if and when they want to cover themselves to protect themselves from pervs, thank you very much, you don’t need to do it on our behalf. sorry this was a long ass reply.
@TheOriginalJellicle
@TheOriginalJellicle 3 года назад
@@jbtfp Yeah, that's the "whole other can of worms"... I was specifically replying to the question of why the safety shorts etc. are usually black, not why they're there in the first place. I agree that the women should be allowed to decide for themselves whether or not they want them, however keep in mind South Korea is very conservative and very sexist - the idols themselves have been criticised for controversial outfit decisions that were made by the company/stylists (see Sistar, Stellar, Hwasa to a certain degree, though she seems to have more autonomy with it she still gets a *lot* of criticism), and there's a huge anti-feminism movement on at the moment. One of the Red Velvet members even had to apologise a few years back for just carrying a book that relates to feminism. In an ideal world it wouldn't even be a discussion, but South Korea is very much *not* an ideal world.

@PrincessSakuno
@PrincessSakuno 3 года назад
i think its becos its too scandalous, like its exposing your near pubic area. Asian culture is more conservative than Western culture (esp American) about physically exposing yourself in an upfront sexual way. Alot of people would say this is because most East Asian countries have a root in Confucianism - which is basically revolved around pretty traditional and conservative values of such.
@timogul
@timogul 3 года назад
@@PrincessSakuno Yeah, I figured it was something along those lines, and I get that they are a bit more reserved about _some_ things than equivalent western performers (cleavage seems to be another one), I just found it interesting that this was a part that was almost always kept covered up, when they so often have very short shorts or expose the upper belly.
@raba9_7
@raba9_7 3 года назад
Also since they often use body conturing for 11 line abs, it is easier to do this on the upper belly and maybe hide the teeniest tiniest pouch you have on your lower belly. (Still don't understand where there is a pouch at 45kg but well...) Since I am a woman (European tho) and actively doing sports like bodyweight training I know how hard it is to build 11 line abs (for me sixpack abs) and to remain them. These girls are mostly eating under their daily calories so it is even harder to build up muscles. That's why it is easier to do body cont. than having the idols do extra training after letting them dance for 7 and sing for 3 hours...

I think it's depends of the body and the morphology, i think when a girl idol have a decent size of breast or/and hips she dont need pads
@TheSeolyeon
@TheSeolyeon 3 года назад
Lets take the BP members as examples. They arent exactly the frontrunners of having the biggest breasts nor hips - it does not seem like theyre using pads that much? or idk, not that ive looked specifically after it...and at least not when it comes to breast pads?
@NingKook_
@NingKook_ 3 года назад
@@TheSeolyeon pad hips i don't think Jisoo seem having hips thicked than the others and Jennie/Lisa/Rosé seem having a thin waist but they dont have butt, i think at least Jennie use breast pad
@TheSeolyeon

Im also thinking about Rosé actually cuz it didnt seem like she was using anything doing her solo promos. Not too sure tho

Oh the circle lenses...I felt that so much, i feel just the same as you did. I loved it in the beginning, but now when i take them off i cant stand my reflection. Its really a trap that plays with your self confidence

ok but when she talked about not liking her body after taking off the breast and hip pads I was crying. all my life I've been told how vulgar I looked because of how big my chest is. even if I'm thin or fat they're naturally big. I'd kill to have small chest just so I won't be told how provocative I look!!

I saw your KSTea broadcast with DKDK today (210624 Hawaii time) and commented that you were noticeably downcast towards the end - the issues being discussed didn't help. I wouldn't want to pre-judge based on a few things you've said in this upload other than to say to listen to your body. If you're feeling noticeably different from what you normally feel like and others notice it as well, pay attention to those changes. Women especially tend to disregard or minimize these things. Talk to a trusted friend, or your physician, or your mom and make decisions going forward from there. We say things like, "Stay healthy", "Be safe" - we really do mean it! Take care and we'll see you soon on the next KSTea or your next upload. BTW, the contacts things was insightful and I'll be looking at my favorite idols with a bit more scrutiny (except for Taehyun / TXT - I know for sure he has exceptionally large eyes haha).

But whatever anyone says about kpop beauty standard the hard truth is that kpop is so popular bcs of it's high beauty standard. Whoever u ask will definitely say about their good looks.

That is anybody in the entertainment industry. Looks are very important! one has to be extremely talented to be ok looking and successful in entertainment. Kpop just takes it a step further cuz they literally have no choice. In the usa it is more pressure from companies and comparisons to other celebs not contractual.

I was kinda aware of the bra pads cause it is more common on public than hip pads. But now that i heard of hip pads it really makes a lot of sense. Cause i wathc a lot of fancams and expecially with soloist i always just wondered that how the artists have an hourglass figure compared to the packup dancers. I just thought it is cause the artist is usually skinnier but now i get that weight doesnt always change your body type that drastically

I'm kind of curious, if idols wore bra and hip pads on stage, did they try to always be consistent with the size? How is that not found out? I feel like by now I would hear people trying to "expose" idols for such a thing, but I haven't.

I honeslty don't really notice them. Alot of idols loose and gain weight pretty frequently between comebacks (not healthy but it happens) and your body can look a bit different depending on your clothing and camera angles, so it's not very risky to wear padding some days and not other days.

I'm a shoe addict too! Not from an idol experience but when I went to my friend's bf's condo, I was critized for how worn my shoes were. They were korean and I get that it was a joke but it was a pair of shoes that my sister bought me (younger) so it's very special but ever since then, I started to have addiction with shoes especially white and they had to be cleaned twice or thrice every month. I started collecting shoes because of that incident.
