Thank you for your videos. I was so depressed at being diagnosed with type II and my doctor had no ideas other than to treat the symptoms . Then I came across your videos and 4 months later I am 30lbs down and my numbers are trending in the right direction. What a life changer. Thank You so much.
When Doctors say "lose weight" they know what they're talking about. I was morbidly obese and had many health issues related to my obesity (Type 11 Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure (210/110), arthritis and fatty liver disease). I had difficulty walking, and getting up off the chair. I have started exercising everyday (30 minutes to one hour walk everyday) and have lost over 130 pounds. I am now only taking blood pressure medication and my Cardiologist told me I may be able to stop taking my blood pressure medication. I'm 62 years old and feel g-r-e-a-t! My best advice is: lose weight and start walking. You'll notice a difference making gradual changes. Slow and steady wins the race! 😊🚶♀🚶♀
@@RiceNorthborough Dear RiceNorthborough: Thank you for your encouraging and kind words. I only have another 50 pounds to go to reach my goal. Thanks again. 😊
Me too, but medication for hypertension makes it harder. I am being very strict about low carb eating and getting good exercise daily. That’s about all I can do. I’m 87 now and hope to live a few more years in reasonably good health. Dr Fung’s advice is the best.
Im on day 39 of a 40 day Fast. Ive dropped over 19Kg so far. I feel great, sleeping better, feel and look much lighter. I recommend a good Fast for everyone. (Male, 49, 6'1", was 119Kg 39 days ago, now 100Kg)
Amazing!!!! You might already know that but just in case: look into refeeding after fasting. Especially after a long fast as you are doing make sure you get a healthy transition.
@@Lisa-yd5ov I have a delicious water melon sitting in the fridge, and whilst consuming some of that I'll be cooking up a pot of creamy chicken and mushroom soup to see me through the rest of day 1. In the past, thats all Ive needed to do before eating pretty much anything on day 2.
his only problem is this insistence in fasting and low carb, low fructose, as if it caused the so called metabolic syndrome. And I can't help but notice his voice is estrogenic and low energy. Fung is leading many people to low thyroid and high stress.
@@Amaraticandoare you advocating high carb and fructose? Because that's how you get metabolically sick. Throw in seed oils, and you can hit the jackpot of metabolic illness.
Nobody I know has any idea about good health it's ridiculous. I have a big family I work for the nhs always talking to loads of people I've never met anyone who understands me when I say I eat low carb high fat & protein. I'm 44 years old and in better shape than almost everyone my age, I take my hat off to Dr Fung for giving his time and energy to helping people.
I’m in shock! Thank you for this. I would never ever have taken statins, and certainly stopped sooner when side effects started. Thankfully not on the other alternative medications either. I am so tired of unscientific guidelines being presented as factually based, and benefits being implied as important when the gains are utterly marginal. I have read J Fung’s books and watched videos of his for years and trust his words more than my doctor or UK NHS guidelines. The public expects the medical profession to act professionally, and what we get is organisational incompetence at best. Still shaking my head at how the lifetime benefit of statins is probably less than the time required to physically take the things. Utterly and completely Bonkers!!!
Thank you Dr. Fung! People are catching on thanks to your books, videos and lectures 👍. For me they helped me lose 160 lbs. and reverse ALL my health issues. Learning how to fast saved my life. I'm 61. I'm maintaining well and loving my fasting lifestyle 🥰. Thanks for all you do!
Awesome to hear. Having the right tools and information is important: whole foods, regular fasting, quality sleep, and stress management. Mindfulness and sticking with it are the keys to using these tools. All the best to you.
@@redblacktichy7713 Yeah but there are many other factors like diet (carbs, processed junk, sugar), alcohol, smoking, stress, lack of sleep, anything that kills your immune system. Not to mention genetics.

I want a dr Jason to help me in building muscles. Thanks again dr Jason ❤❤❤ Alhamdulillah
It shocks me how we have all been lied to about statins. And shocked that doctors have bought into the lie also. Thank you Dr Fung for speaking the truth.
I asked my doctor to go off a statin after I found an FDA report that linked the drug to elevated glucose levels, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. He agreed with me and took me off the statin. After that I cleaned up my diet and now have normal glucose readings, and have lost 24 lbs.😊
@@pearljam_1 they weren't drawing a conclusion, they were stating related facts. Fat is important and serves specific purposes. It is not causal to metabolic disease, but can be and, in fact, often is, a symptom of metabolic disease.
@@Ge1Ri4 none of what you said is related to anything that was said prior. No conclusions? “Lowering cholesterol isn’t important at all.” And I never said anything about fat being causal to anything. You are in left field.
after listening to Dr Jason, I managed to reverse my diabetes two years ago. I cannot thank you enough for your work and you. i also recomended to two other friends of mine who also reversed their diabetes. Thank You.
My mother died from heart disease, and my father died from leukemia (which is a type of cancer) and he had diabetes problems. That's why i am very interested in health and in the fasting and low-carb ketogenic lifestyle and in theory of life after death, The Eternal return of the same and other afterlife theories, because I have high hopes that i will see my parents again after i die
Excellent video. I know there are always exceptions but my mother lived independently until she suddenly died from brain hemorrhage at 96 years old. She took no medications, ate a very high starch diet all her life, and was obese most of her life. Sometimes things just work out. 😮
did Intermittent fasting, and drop 10kgs from 180. Lowered my sugar and cholesterol levels. The best, my eyesight is better now. I don't use eyeglasses for reading anymore.
By adopting Paleo diet, total eliminartion of Sugar and Grains, at almost 80 yo, I am the biggest with muscles at the gym. My strength is at my 20's, strongest of all my life.
Thanks for continuously enriching us with your knowledge. You have turned my life around. Because of you, I learned about I/F and lost 120 lbs., reached an A1C of 4.9. I’m off b.p. and statin meds. I’m so very lucky to have found you here. Thanks again 🙏👍🏻🌷👏🏻🏆
This doctor knows how important doing research and science is! I put the exclamation point to emphasize how rare this is, how important this is. Show me the science. Exercise and eating non-processed foods go a long way. Intermittent fasting helped me lose weight, coupled with cutting out 94% carbohydrates. Although, I still have neuropathy, I am hoping that goes away as I lose weight. Thank you Dr. Fung for your intelligent insightful videos.
Down 36 pounds currently on my first longer fast sitting at 93 hour fast super happy as the longest I had ever achieved was a 36 hour, Still have lots more to lose but not giving up !
Not to mention, if you are still worried about cholesterol, you can also change that with diet. When my Dr started me on Statins, I changed what I ate and lowered my cholesterol and avoided having to take those statins and all their side effects.
@@PaulbylPaulbyl I moved away from low carb diets and over to a Mediterranean diet. The downside to low carb is that cholesterol spikes with them. Once I moved away from low carb, all my numbers improved dramatically. Hope it helps.
Yes this happened to me. No longer eating butter, bacon or higher fat meats as often. Weight isn't my issue nor any sugar related problems. I exercise a lot both weight training n cardio. Very active nice muscle growth a bit of weight loss but cholesterol rose way up. Now doing reduced fat. Blood work coming up soon. Will see if my recent blood donation and change of diet gives me the change I'm hoping for. Probably need a few more months to see. I won't take meds of any kind.
A solution to a deadly problem is literally in our hands...(or in our mouths). Simply what and when we put things in to our body can be lifesaving. Thank you for this video @jasonfung
Thank you Dr. Fung for the great information on the evidence and statistics of longevity education. You're the best doctor educating the public worldwide on scientific research and evidence based on health strategies that we can implement to improve our health and longevity.
Terrific video and presentation, Dr. Fung! Really like the way you clearly explain things and focus on what is most important. Thank you for preparing this - well done!
Taking good care of yourself is important, NO ONE, I MEAN NO ONE, knows when or how they are going to die. Only God knows this and He’s not telling us. Live each day as if it were the first day of the rest of your life, because it it. Choose wisely how you live and will leave a legacy of wisdom which will far outlive your body.
I am starting with skipping dinner, eating a solid breakfast of steel cut oats chia seed and apple, lunch is vegetable and protein, snack is protein shake on workout days or nonfat greek yogurt w walnuts and pumpkin seed. I think my maintenance calorie is 2300. I am eating about 1500-1800 per day. I strength train 2 days a week and cardio 3. About 2.5hrs of intentional exercise a week. I am modestly sedentary doing 3-7k steps a day. I am 5'9 170lb, my goal weight is 155 with minimal muscle loss. I am turning 42. Hoping to get to 90.
I’m 79, and those are too many eating events daily, and probably too many days per week. Dump all but your lunch for a couple of weeks, then skip that once a week for a while.
@@Hat65 It’s what I’ve done since a few days after my 79th BD in July, after years of doing a low fat, low calorie diet that saw me gradually gain weight, I had my first angina session. Nuclear CT showed 3 vessel and aortic calcification. I switched to a low carb no sugar diet and eliminated as many processed foods as possible. Started eating once a day during a 4-6 hour window. After about 3 weeks, I started skipping the window one day a week. Drank a lot of water. I’ve always exercised, used to run miles. I have a cable machine, do floor stretching and a stationary bike I do 5 miles on almost daily, heart rate ~115 I’m down 25 pounds in 2 months. My BP is 110/61. Dr. Fung, I really wonder if we should dismiss accidents from this final tally of the effects of metabolic disease on longevity. If inflammation from chronically high insulin levels is as bad as this, I can’t imagine that it doesn’t have a relationship with mental clarity, depth perception, fatigue from lack of sleep, muscle fatigue, nerve damage, joint pain, and balance. All of these things are impacted by metabolic health. Perhaps it’s time for a large-scale study measuring frequency of injury/seriousness of injury and baseline insulin levels?
My gp never checked my A1C and I had a heart attack 7 years ago. I believe that it should standard of care to monitor blood sugar. I had to request that an A1C be done on me as part of my yearly blood work after I learned about this.
Doctors check what other doctors check, for the most part. Agreed about checking A1C. I send my doctor an email with all the blood tests I want run. She orders them and then I check my results to see what I need to change. (She sends a canned email if anything is high or low, so at least I know she has looked at my results.) I can see how my diet, sleep and supplements are working, and where I might need to pay more attention to my health. I hope that more people start requesting tests that are important for their health.
No. If he were, he'd lose the time and ability to be making these videos which significantly help us, the general public. Not to mention being able to do so without the restrictions of being a part of the CDC.
Years ago, after listening to Dr. Fung's lectures, I started IF and lost 20 kg in 1 year. My diet only excludes soft drinks and excess carbohydrates. I have high cholesterol and take statins, but it is reassuring to know that this is at the bottom of the list of causes of death. I am forever grateful for your knowledge. Bravo, doctor!
Statins are a scam. Lowering cholesterol is unwise plus all the side effects. Statins can help people who have had an event but not because they lower cholesterol. It turns out they have an anti inflammatory effect, unintended but positive nevertheless. So unless you have had a vascular/coronary event, it is wise to stop taking them.
Stopped gluten, grains, dairy, lectins, sugar in June. Lost 15 pounds (female, 60 yo, active). LDL has jumped to 400. Can't decide if I will take statin.. Scheduled a calcium scan.
@@Lisa-yd5ov Thanks for your reply. I have read all the papers on LMHR. My family Hx is so bad, it doesn't make me feel any better. Hopefully the scan will reveal what's going on.
I will keep the fingers crossed for you! :) What is also important scout the scan value is also the progression over time, if it is progressing less/same/more than average over time. Additionally high cholesterol can also be a sign if other different health situations, e.g. thyroid problems. I would recommend also reading up on carouses for high cholesterol. Good luck! :)
Processed carb and processed plant oil addiction are the main reasons why there are so many illnesses nowadays. Little bit of white sugar here and there is not gonna make you sick but most people don't have control they just keep overeating. Also stress and genetics can be one of the causes.
Agreed. Processed meat and sat fat is even worse, though. It's generally the totality of the diet that counts for risk. SAD diet is pizza and MCDonalds hamburgers.
Depends which type of saturated fat. If it's hidrogenated palm oil then it's poison. But butter, cream, dark chocolate, coconut oil and other animal saturated fat like lard, chicken fat are healthy. Processed meat definitely bad, full of salt, additives, nitrates, smoke..
@@andrewnorris5415 depends which type of saturated fat. If it's hydrogenated palm oil then it's bad. But animal fats, coconuts, mango kernel oil and cacao butter are healthy saturated fats. I agree on processed meat definitely unhealthy.
I have to say, no sugar at all, in all forms. U say a little here and there but it is a major trigger to want more...I am a sugar addict. Given it up and am zero carb, reversed my diabetes, lost weight and more mental clarity than ever. I have been carnivore for 9 years and my lab markers are all perfect. I'm 77.
I’ve lost count of the number of health professionals ( Doctors, Nurses) that are obese, stressed and don’t have time for exercise or eating a proper diet.
I just accepted the fact that my body produces more cholesterol than i want, even if i dont eat much saturated fats nor eat much carbs. I dont take any medicine to lower it.
Number 4 on the list of death was “unintentional accidents”. This used to be more accurately called medical negligence until no doubt money changed hands high up between medical corporations and internet corporations.
Actually its car wrecks, drownings, “accidents”. Accidents are not considered accidental- they are unintentional injury- unlike intentional which is cutting and suicide.
