This video tackles a HUGE misunderstanding regarding exercise. Your ability to grasp this concept and utilize it in your training directly correlates to how quickly and effectively your reach your goal AND how well you are able to avoid injury.

Great explanation. The weight stacks on those newer Nautilus machines are not heavy enough imo. I will take that Vintage Nautilus honey (w friction) all day long over all the new machines out today.

I noticed you do your reps a lot slower than mike mentzer. It’s there a reason for this??

Hey Jay, I want to ask a question the most trainers do not talk about: Muscle contraction. Do you suggest, while doing the exercise, to contract/flex the working muscle and not just moving the weight from A to B? and if you do, flexing the muscle from the beginning of the movement or only by the peak of it? Thank you.

Hopefully, proper training keeps you out of the Orthopaedic surgeon’s office too! Hip, knee replacements aren’t fun!

Hi Jay, with your experience as a trainer can you give a rough estimate how long it takes for a grown up to reach his/her genetic maximum (or pretty close to) regarding maximum strength ? My estimate would be one year. Like to hear your reaction. Thanks. Regards, Matty

With proper instruction and training it "should" take under 2 years. It usually does not work out that way. Ballpark figure of 80 percent or more of trainees do not come even close to their potential. An evaluation of which can only be done in retrospect.

Jay I was thinking about opening a hit center. is it a good business? I don't want to open it if it doesn't have six figure net . thanks

Its only a good business if you're good at it and know what you're doing. If you know how to train people, are personable, intelligent, understand exercise to a high degree and look the part by being fit than you can be successful. But I wouldn't expect one to be successful by throwing one together without extensive background and knowledge using HIT and exercise physiology.

Jay Vincent of course I wouldn't think it would work if someone isn't an expert in the field. I myself have as much knowledge as anyone in the hit arena. I learned about it in 81 and have all these years of experience. I am at a point in my life where I'm financially set and want to have a business that I have an interest in. I'm the past I made a great roi on businesses that I hated. I just don't want to start something if I can't build a 6 figure return on it.

You can do it. Many HIT nerds turn people off though. If one has charisma and was not a know it all arrogant jerk as some HIT folks are you can do damned well and obviously this is a needed service in the community. Hell I would rather have one of these HIT nerds train me than some dumb meathead trainer asking you to balance on their balls.

You are completely wrong! The purpose of exercise is to help RESTORE what the modern world had created...namely, inactivity! Go back 200 years and no one is doing pushups, etc. No one is going out for a jog, etc. Why? Because their daily life gave them all the activity that they needed. But with the modern world came the problem that people were no longer moving. No one would make a child exercise. Why? Because children will naturally play. They will run and move and have FUN! You concept of exercise is to fit into your small little myopic box. You need to expand your view.

@aaronalfeche ok, let's go with your definition. It's not exercise that people need, it's daily movement! It's restoring what has been lost through disuse. So a daily routine is what people need.
