The house building analogy is a perfect way to describe this!

Brad Pilon went through all the protein research because he was at some scientist/supplement conference and the other guys - scientists mocked him for "believing in protein". So he got upset and wrote a book on protein. Final recommendation. As long as your intake is 70-120g of protein a day (affected by height, so a 180cm guy probably is fine with 100g or even 90g), over the long term, and you consume it pretty much any time you want, you support your muscle building efforts fully. Average intake in population already is 90g. And many non-protein foods also contain a bit of protein, which adds up - like egg, a protein food, has 7g, and slice of bread has 5g, so...you don't even have to monitor it that much. His conclusion basically was - resistance train consistently long term and that's it. Btw in some studies, guys with kidney failure and intake below 50g of protein a day still built some muscle🙂

fantastic comment! Pilon is great Im 210 lbs i get 100 on avg grams a day...Protein like 2 to 300 grams a day is vastly overrated
@TravisH-nm9fy
@TravisH-nm9fy 8 месяцев назад
Yeah if you do the math, it doesnt make sense why you would ever need these crazy high intakes of protein. We know you can build 1-2 pounds of muscle per month AT BEST. Even if muscle was built out of PURE protein that would be 907 grams of protein per month, so about 30 grams of extra protein per day and thats assuming youre gaining the maximum anount of muscle possible and muscle was built out of pure protein which its not. I agree if youre getting 70-120g per day youre good to go. Your average person is most likely eating too much protein already.

@@TravisH-nm9fy yeah, you only need as much as the muscle building requires. Most american diet has enough protein but those from 3’rd world countries consume more carbs and less protein. Except for Mexicans, they mix up rice/taco with beans, so they get lots of protein

protein powder are only useful if you want to eat too much protein. 1.5 g x kg are all you need, unless you are a pro, take steroid ecc.. but if you are, you train differently. You don't do one set 2 time a week.

I only use myprotein impact whey, the rest of the protein powders (vast majority of them anyways) engage in protein spiking upwards of 50% or more of the listed protein, so you think youre getting 30g a scoop but youre really only getting 15 because your body cant use 15g of one amino acid

Why even take these two supplements if you are consuming enough red meat and protein from food, which is completely possible to do?
@elmSTREETnasty
@elmSTREETnasty 2 года назад
"Completely possible" 🤣 kid, you're clueless. If your goal is 160g of protein a day, that's 2 pounds of lean ground beef, 8 cans of tuna or an unreasonable amount of whatever meat you can think of. You could do that, waste a ton of money and probably have a heart attack, or you could spend $50 on a jar of protein that'll give you way more protein per dollar. Again, you're clueless. Don't bother responding to this. I'll never see it.

There is only one supplement you need to build muscle. It’s EAA, essential amino acids. Forget every different type of protein powders, most are absolute garbage, full of fillers and sweetners. When all you are trying to do is extract the essential amino acids, which are the building blocks for muscle development! Plus they cost effective.

Protein powder isnt really a supplement.. its just a way to help you reach your daily protein goal if you cant do so through normal food (not that whey protein powder isnt normal food, but u get what i mean). You cant compare it to something like creatine. And if you want to then generally creatine and protein powder are the only useful things to take. Perhaps some other things like magnesium, or specific vitamins (depending on your diet and individual body)
