Sonic the Hedgehog CD (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ ＣＤ Sonikku za Hejjihoggu Shīdī?), more commonly known as Sonic CD (ソニック ＣＤ Sonikku Shīdī?), is a 2D platformer game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It marked the first official appearance of both Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. It was released for the Sega Mega-CD in Japan on 23 September 1993, in Europe in October 1993 and for the Sega CD in North America on 23 November 1993.

The Japanese version where Sonic "proposes" to Amy has that part muted, and it's actually revisited in season three when Amy takes Sonic to a fortune-teller. It's revealed that Sonic said, "I really missed you a whole lot".
I really appreciate how respectful you were when talking about Amy's character, A lot of people can be immature and write her off as an obsessive, annoying, Sonic fan girl when really that's not the case at all, she's truly a strong and considerate character.
But that was what she was supposed to be. A fanatic with occult obsession to meet her celebrity. Sonic supposed to be cool and very popular like a popstar. This is why he rejects her: she's too much and a shallow fangirl! Adventure era decides to grow her into sometjing but it's not really clear what that is. So you can see why there's a devide and complex towards her
It's been confirmed by Sega already that sonic like Amy but just isn't showy with it. The way I always seen it was he liked her but just can't get in a relationship. Goes against his rebellious, free spirited nature, not to mention he's a hero busy saving worlds pretty often
I just watched the second movie and considering the hint on the after credits I can see Amy being introduced differently for the next movie and a future movie to have the plot of CD which could make it better since Sonic would have more reasons to save Amy from Metal than just being a random girl that happened to be there and getting captured. They could still make her a big fan similar to how they did it for Tails in the movie, but ended up mistaken Shadow from Sonic which happens in the game too and just go from there maybe following Shadow first until she actually finds the “faker” Sonic
Actually, I think it's hinted that Amy is already ON Earth, more in the New-York area. She's likely living with someone though, probably hearing rumors of Sonic, Etc. (Assuming the Easter-Egg of a stock-image of a girl with Amy Rose as the username when looking for apartments in the 1st Movie isn't just a fun little easter egg)
In the french version of Sonic X, Sonic says "Of course I love you Amy, since forever" It was so romantic! I was a child but at that time I was so happy. Amy is my favorite character (after Sonic of course) So yeah, I will like to see them together, but no if it's "Amy the fangirl" but as "Amy the fighter" who really help Sonic and the team. The house of Amy rose edit was done by TMS the company that animated Sonic X, this was meant for any dubbing companies to add text over but for whatever reason 4kids choose not to do it.

Classic Amy was originally the same age as tails but modern Amy is only 2 years younger then sonic. Also fun trivia fact real life hedgehogs go into heat By extended close contact with potential mates. Meaning that her stocker like tendencies could just be a byproduct of the time manipulation from the incident on little planet combined with her fanaticism of him, also explains why all the other male hedgehogs are also loners not ready to be baby daddy's.(also more than likely means that somebody on staff had pet hedgehogs at some point.)

TMS the studio that made Sonic X provided a versions of the show to localizers where signage that had Japanese text on it was removed. Presumably so the localizers can easily put their own text in the proper language. 4kids as lazy as they were just didn't bother to put English text as replacement and in other cases removed even more text. Fun Fact: In episode 16 of Sonic X Sonic and his friends are given official documentation for travel and such. The show Amy's Social Security card and her number shows that Station Square is located in Ohio. This info was wiped in the 4kids bub of course.

If the Sonic movie team introduce her. I HOPE it'll be through her tarrot cards. She's got even more abilities than Sonic. Being super strong, psychic and at some point having the power to erase her presence and making herself invisible. Doesnt make sense but it's still fun!

10:54 since you asked for an explanation I’d like to point out 4kids also censored out the part in Sonic X where Amy gets a job as a waitress, moves out of Chris’ house and rents an apartment of her own, in episode 20 there’s even a touching moment as she’s leaving the apartment and looking back on it all empty saying her farewells.
The only reason for that sign edit I can possibly think of is someone at 4kids saw the sign after that scene and thought “this is definitely implying sex, we have to censor it.” You might think that’s fucking stupid and no one would ever think that, but I’d like to remind you 4kids made this dub. I wouldn’t put it past them. Also, what a god damn thumbnail lmao. I know we talked about you using that in the stream but I didn’t think you’d actually do it lmao
Those IDW comics are legit awesome. Highly recommend if you liked the Adventure games, or hell even if you just like comics lol. They're extremely well written, in fact my only complaint with them is, so far, the story has been so good I'm disappointed we'll probably never get games with these stories. I mean the "Metal Virus" arc (I dunno if it's called that) even added an interesting mechanic to Sonic that would be cool to have explored with a game, I would explain it but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to read it.
11:01 maybe because is stated since adventure Amy live in a City, and in Sonic Battle they clarify she live in a apartament complex(her room is a one of the scenaries). That house look more like Vanilla and Cream's house(Sonic advance 2 or 3 show their house in the good end). Most likely the cartel said it was a error in the first place.

11:10 4Kids refused to allow ANY text in their shows. Like even the book store in Sonic X was changed to just have the tiny book logo by itself. They were ridiculous about that.
I didn't get confused over the Princess Sally thing, but I also first saw Amy in issue 25 of the Archie comic where she was referred to as Amy Rose and met Princess Sally. I got a Sega CD after this and then read the instruction manual, but the comic warned me about the typo ahead of time.
When I was a kid in the 1990s, I remember reading a video game magazine that announced a new character named "Emmy" would be introduced and asked "Is Sonic getting a girlfriend?"(This was around the time "Sonic" SatAM was on the air.) I assume the writer misheard or mistranslated "Amy?"
"Who else would you want to have in this series?" Honestly, my first thought was Shantae. None of the extended cast has enough origins to warrant more than a full group video, but Shantae herself has enough stuff you could easily pull together.
If I had to guess I’d say they edit Amy name out of the sign because the fact sonic decided to land in front of her house might suggest sonic and Amy despite not dating are living together and 4kids probably didn’t like that so they edited it out.
4Kids had a habit of editing out text in their adaptations, even if it was in english. Part of the reason was so it was easier to subliscence to other languages.
Little bit of Archie comic trivia: while Amy was always amy, they did introduce Rosie the Rascal as Amy's evil anti-verse version who was this unhinged yandere with a spikey hammer
My biggest gripe with that waste of space is that they used her old nickname and design. Amy was already treated like shit in Archie but this is throwing an entire truck of salt to the wound.
I guess 4kids didn’t want the show to insinuate that sonic and Amy would be staying the night at her home after all the romance built up to that moment. A preventative measure

About the 4Kids edit at 11:05, removing the sign text: From what I remember, 4Kids removed as much text from the show as they could, under the (very questionable) logic that *"the kids watching can't read."* It pervaded the entire show, at times causing direct conflict with the script: One major example being that the characters used initials embroidered on a handkerchief as a clue in an episode. It was vital to the plot, yet 4Kids removed the embroidery in the animation anyway. 4Kids was in full swing at the time, as was the justified hate for them; so it was quite a big stink on the internet back then.

For that sign thing, I think I read somewhere that 4 kids had been given footage with no lettering with the expectation that they would add it back in in english, but it being 4 kids they were too lazy to do so
I like to think that Amy's journey through the years is her growing up in maturity and learning her own value, while still not entirely dropping her love for Sonic. It's still there but it's no longer her driving force, she started to learn how to fight and be a hero to impress him but now does it for its own sake. And in the future the fact that she does do it for its own sake might actually be the thing to draw Sonic in - I've always thought their relationship to be one that could happen in the future only after years of building a solid foundation. But regardless - Amy kicks ass.
11:01 Take it with a pinch of salt but I have read the reasoning was so the studio could sublicense the anime broadcast version out more easily to various regions without those foreign nations having to edit out the text themselves for local audiences.

4 kids didn’t ruin yugioh, they drastically improved it by creating invisible guns, dark energy disks and the shadow realm which is still used in yugioh media such as duel links XD
11:10 I don't know if this is official or not, but I heard the Japanese animation team cleared all the text off of things before sending the videos over, in case the English localization team wanted to change/add something. But apparently the English team was just too lazy to fill it back in, so we have these weird moments.

I can see where they were coming from with initially referring to Amy as Princess Sally, since in the first batch of Archie Comics and the first episode of SatAM, Sally was the same shade of pink as Amy and the translators for Sonic CD probably thought "A pink character is in the game? Must be princess Sally then!" As for the sign being blank in the dub, I remember reading somewhere that every sign in Sonic X was scrubbed clean to allow for other countries to fill in the blanks with whatever text they wanted in their respective languages, but none of them ever got the memo on that intention and just left the signs blank.
I don't believe someone is that dumb to confuse Amy with Sally in that instance. Sally was not pink, like, at all, her pilot appearance was but not her final design, they had time to think that through considering Sonic CD launched in 1993.
Actually , there is one thing 4Kids did better than the original. 4Kids had a series finale was actually final , unlike the Japanese cliffhanger version.
Amy was supposed to be Sally in CD? I always thought Sally sent Sonic to LBP, and he ran into Amy. It was because of that I thought Sally existed in the Sonic games but never made a physical appearance
The reason the HOUSE OF AMY ROSE text was removed is the same reason text is removed from other anime series when dubbed. Since they're dubbing it they no longer need translated text, so they just take out ALL text without checking if it's necessary or not, already translated or not, or necessary or not. It's a stupid and lazy thing to do.
4kids were the kings of pointless edits. Like an Pepsi ad in an anime would just be a blue sign with nothing on it or calling a rice ball a jelly doughnut. They had no reason for half their edits. Overall it was just ridiculous. Even the thing with the guns in Yu-gi-oh was stupid because in the movie they keep them but in the series they were edited to finger guns. While I understand the reasoning "Guns= violence= bad influence on children" it still looks hilariously bad because when Kaiba jumps out the window all I can think is "What are you two gonna do? Point at me?" Like he has no reason to jump until you find out they were originally pointing guns at him.
So I believe a reason that text was taken out of a lot of scenes in the Sonic X dub (even English) is because of other countries. A lot of countries tend to dub over an English dub rather than the original Japanese (maybe finding English interpreters is easier? I don’t know) It may be out of a sense of responsibility to release a version for non-English western countries, but just as likely about money. 4Kids won’t get any money out of non-English dubs because it’s over Japanese footage and all English voice acting is taken out. However, by making edits to the visuals and replacing music with their own, then they get a cut along with the original Japanese producers since now they “helped” on the work
What I'm implying by this is that I actually enjoy looking at the comments of videos, seeing what people quote, their reactions to certain parts of the video, stuff like that. It's just odd seeing such a small comments section.

Like to think that amy was raised normally and was born on little planets/mrecale planets and one day she was doing a fountain card reading and then she realized that she was destinyed to meet a blue hedgehog and then after cd she went on a long adventure and landed on the tornado and the rest is long history
