Just wanna share, someone I know attended their first regional just for fun and to try out other ways to play Pokémon. She's just a casual, and had no idea about most top players, and she played James Baek round 1. She was so shocked after he knew about him after the match and she said that she really felt the experience gap between them as she just got constantly read right after another. Still, she said the experience was a blast, and appreciates how good some of the players are and how hard the game can actually be. If you have any regionals near at your venue, you should consider going! Haven't gone to one since I'm in Asia, but videos like this prove that going to one will surely be memorable. Also, thank you for everything you do Espy! I've been seeing more and more people try VGC and you're part of that. U the goat 🐐

I would have loved to have a video like this before my first regional last season. So much great info. Especially about the use of union circle during matches. Me and my first round opponent at Stockholm didn't have any clue about it so we just matched via link battle. A judge told me later during a side event that union circle is used cause if anyone disconnects there is no chance of getting a ban.

Thank you for the relatable video, man. I'm not from the states so I'm not sure if TPC is consistent with these rules worldwide (I haven't participated in anything... YET) but still learned a ton. I'll for sure get a wired controller and bring a notebook, for example. Oh and I'd love to see a team report. Going 3-5 in your very first regional sounds amazing, but also I think it'd be on-theme with the "learn alongside me!' motto. And I'm a big Vivillon fan ngl I'm Chris btw ;)

I am anxious around people and are going to my First regional next month and worst is I am going alone because No friend of mine can come This Video Just found the right Person Hopefully I meet some nice Pokémon Fans, I mean I am anxious and nervous and alone in a new City but Hopefully this will be a positive journey I Love Pokémon and I allways wanted to compete against others. Its really a dream coming true Just for playing there so that was my Motivation for Registrating myself even tho No one comes with me

Dang, missed you there. My friend and I went to Louisville, this being my second tournament ever and it being my friend's first. I got stomped going 2-6, but he ended up going 5-3. Would of made day 2 if his Delphox didn't miss two Heat Waves in a row against a Gholdengo.
Hey love the video, but you said a list of all the people who help you prep and team build. Can you make a video for new players in how to find people to help you prep? Also how to find people to split hotels with so to cut cost?
@@onepiecedingsda7558 locals are a great way to do this 100%. But discords are also a great way. Getting into a VGC discord connects you to others that are going to events that you can coordinate with!
Im someone whos considering attending a regional at some point this season, and this video was super helpful! Just a quick question, i'm someone with minor social anxiety and struggle with events like this. Do you have any tips on how to get involved with others at the venue?
@@mashd0s265 I am glad you found it helpful! And that is totally understandable. Luckily, you are forced to talk to people through matches! Be kind to them and see if you can continue talking to them when the match is done away from the table so you aren't disturbing other players! I continued to talk to several of my match opponents after we finished up and we caught up several times throughout the event! You could make some great friends this way and meet their group!

UUUUUUUUGH… I commiserate with the audio problems. I love my portable mic’s but I have no idea how to make it sound as good as a studio one. 😅 The tips here are really good to know! Making sure your ArK9 name and your IGN name are the same isn’t something I’ve found anywhere!
