The idea that the ship they were on begun to shake violently from the tentacles wrapping around the ship and poros running amok on deck (all the while you have crew members screaming, “What’s happening?!” as all this occurs). Anyway, I think we can all agree that Braum is a lovely addition to the roster.
Braum is the perfect addition. He has so much personality in just his posture. The best champions can tell you everything about their personality just from a single frame.
And Amane and Relius from BlazBlue, Powered Ciel from MBTL and a bunch more probably... is actually a pretty common trope, very likely going to be the same in 2XKO
6:50 actually, other fighting games already have that kind of funny super that has reaction faces by those who get hit by it. most recent example i can think of off the top of my head is faust in guilty gear strive, where he has a super where he drives a wheelchair into the enemy's shins and every single character has a unique reaction to it, including every single dlc character released after (since he's a launch roster character) so im not at all surprised theyre making a similar gimmick in this game too.
Dizzy's instant kill with the big SURRENDERED is probably my favorite example. Honorable mention to Amane and Relius in BlazBlue as well (despite the implications).
@@mossysnail6857 It would make more sense if it was Vi and Cait since the show is quite clearly pitting Vi *against* Jinx rather than paired up. And if Cait turns out to just not fit a fighting game (understandably), I think it would be more likely that Jayce would replace her.
No matter how many times I see the guy I only think of these things: Guard points, armored moves, projectiles and corner carry with that shield slide. . . this dude is gonna be nuts to lab with. Also Poro throw will be for space control.
who I'd love to see appear in this game is Shen, paired with maybe Akali as a wise master protecting his pupil so while Akali's fighting style is more chaotic Shen can step in at the right time with his ult and take over with a more calculated strategy.
you got it right, cuz I saw Akali sprite LEAKED somewhere. so the total champion for public testing will be 10. Darius, Katarina, Jinx, Ekko, Yasuo, Ahri, Illaoi, Braum, Shen and Akali. That's quite worth a sum of penny to give at try (i don't think the alpha test will be free...you know, RIOT.)
cant say for 2xko but on other fighting games especially the guilty gear games, every character has their own unique facial animation when hit by certain special moves, like on Instant Kill moves or Faust's Bone Crushing Excitement
It's basically what you said. Shared animations. If the body is too small or too big for the base skeleton animation, they need to make just small adjustments. It's like that for almost all fighting games. That's why modders can swap characters, make the looks of one character playing like another character, with ease.
You can pretty clearly hear a similar leit motif in Braum's LoL and 2XKO themes. The 2XKO theme just adds a few beats here and there and makes it much faster.
As for the unique facial animations for the poro hit, it's not unheard of, and actually somewhat tradition in fighting games to have every character have a unique animation to one character's ultimate (not diff characters, so in this case, every 2XKO character will have a reaction to braums ultimate, not like, ahri to Darius, etc). Take Guilty Gear Strive, every character, DLC included, has a unique animation when they're hit by Faust's wheelchair overdrive, same happened I'm XRD
Its so cool to see people enjoy FG-Stuff that we as the FGC sometimes forget to appreciate. We are so used to having tracks for every stage and/or character and unique animations for supers etc. but ofc for people coming from LoL they mostly see summoners rift and hear the same bgm.
I feel a big reason they are selecting lore paired/related characters is because it was dev-confirmed a few weeks ago unique prefight intros will be a thing. I imagine they plan to lean into some of the small touches that alot of more established fighters have moved away from (that used to be a big thing in old Street Fighter Alpha series).
arc sys does unique animations for characters reacting to certain moves (ex: potempkin slam, faust wheelchair) so i dont think its a huge stretch to imagine each character reacts uniquely to it, to some extent
its interesting seeing what riot fans expect vs what fighting game fans expect for this game. the makers of this game are huge fans of marvel vs capcom 3 so i epxect a bunch of characters to be inspired from that roster. i think morrgana and kayle and lux and sylas all have strong chances to get in. also so far every character thats in 2xko has been in a big time cinematic.
in fighting games you wont notice all the nuances and reactions of a character while they are in hit stun, so most likely that ahri expression was probably from a hit animation and were just getting to see it up close.
6:45 they are using unreal engine so as long as every future character uses the same facial "skeleton" the animations easily get retargeted so the only thing the animation team has to make is just the original first animation, pretty cool engine tech

necrit, dudley's taunt from SF3 is a taunt where he throwns a rose across the map, if it hits the opponent it does 1 dmg and hiddenly empowers his next hit to deal more stun dmg iirc prob what they're referencing
The music sounding Doom-ish makes total sense considering it's done by Casey Edwards. Not only was he a composer for DMC5 but he also worked with Mick Gordon on Killer Instinct 2013 and got a lot of inspiration from him while helping out with that one.
The music somehow reminds me a lot of Tekken, or at least starting from the 7th one. This mix of very hard guitar and hard electronic music, it fits really much. I like it.
Ruined King was pretty damn cool so I wouldn’t mind getting the team back together. I can definitely see Pyke putting in work with harpoon catches and diving strikes.
Riot has this weird love for both Braum and Illaoi. They seem to get involved in a lot of things outside of the main games. I'm all here for it, I love both of those characters.
With all the shadow ilse theme i hope we get samira darius like the Ruination cinematic since they said during development they cutted katarina at some point
man i really want to get into 2xko but currently im just missing a champion that really speaks to me. i want a weird champion that is really out of the box. how would a bard look in 2xko, what about aurelion sol, any enchanter.... i know these are the kind of champions to get released after launch as they want to have a strong foundation first but i still hope
Or the are could have someone blow the actual serpent caller, make the screen shake, the water would have more waves, or a big monster could show up before all of this (then it blows and the monster could disappear or something
Yeah those tracks sound like a 1 to 1 match for Mick Gordon's work on Killer Instinct 2013. Still his best work imo! Definitely excited for what they bring out next with the soundtrack! Also I'm predicting Poppy as one of the Demacia Reps!
6:55 About the specific animations for each new champions… I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually will do that, it heavily remind me of certain characters from Guilty Gear series, when heach fighter had totally different expressions on other’s super But for some reason this shot in 2XKO sort of feels like that fighters gonna have almost identical expressions, it’s just a guess for the time being
6:49 For those interested search for Faust of Guilty Gear, one of his main gimmicks is that since a couple games ago he has this exact same thing and each time a new character gets introduced into the game they also get their unique animation when getting hit by Faust super, i can only imagine Braum is gonna work the same way
@@AcidicSalt Probably similar to Beowulf? Has two movesets, one with the shield, one without. Can plant the shield and extend reach to an area around it.
Braum getting super armour, instant corner carry, and a great defensive assist might make him a staple just for how unique this kit is. Really looking forward to braum for countering zoning as well.
@necrit btw when the Ahri got hit by the poro, this is like the Guilty Gear games for Faust ultimate, when they get hit the different charachters make different faces too.
I think the obvious Demacia choice is Garen as the OG poster child and Sylas as his counterpart. Static mages are kind of hard to do outside of being obvious zoners, so I'm not keen on Lux. Also, I don't want to hear her laugh mid-match.
