This is one of my favourite videos to date - Mone was my first ever best friend in Japan and I’ve always viewed her as a mirror to the way my life and self would’ve gone had I stayed in Japan. It feels so full circle to be able to chat with her about her experience growing up as mixed race / a white halfie in Japan, as opposed to mine in Australia. We cover standing out, receiving attention but wanting to blend in, Japanese beauty standards, bullying in Japanese middle schools + so much more.
