Really enjoyed this video. I have several of what you showed but I wanted to call out The Sundays. The debut you showed came out when I was a Sr. In college…yes, I’m 54…but back then it was all CDs…I just missed RSD reissues of the catalog 4 or 5 years ago and they are way expensive….just an amazing band with only 3 albums…glad you have a copy!

Those Cranberries Wow! I never explored Friday Music until now picked up a copy of Boston Kevin Gray for 55 on Discogs. Surprised to see those Walmart Target records in the mix including Poison Lol. It’s really a Blessing to see some Joy coming from Jim’s decision on the collection. Not sure how to purchase online? Looking for Dennis Wilson Pacific Ocean Blue if you ever come across one. I was able to get some albums I've been really wanting that mean a lot to me from the TMR store that were from Jim's bin, including Sleigh Bells - Treats, Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book, and Wallows - The Singles Collection ♥️ I love knowing these albums belonged to such a cool and kind person before me, although I am very sad he is no longer with us . I want to honor the music he loved by enjoying these records as much as he did.

Killer selections, Matt! I gasped when I saw you show The Sundays! That has been on my want list for quite a while! I'm really looking forward to seeing Jim's Picks box when I'm there in May. I can't think of a better way to show your love and respect for him than that! Kudos to you and again, my sincerest condolences for the loss of your friend.

Great finds on this video and love the tribute to Jim at the end. Some great finds in your video. I feel like that Goo Goo Dolls “Gutterflower” gets lost with some of their other albums. definitely snag that “Boy Named Goo” album. It’s a collectors item and has the great songs “Name” and “Long Way Down” on it. The Isley Brothers started in the 50s and had that big hit “Shout” in 1959. It was used in the Wedding Crashers movie. They recorded the original “Twist and Shout”.and also did a bunch of songs from Tamla the subsidiary of Motown in the early 60s before the Funk/R&B route in the 60s and 70s.

Hey Matt. Many thanks for sharing all of this - I am pretty sure this means a lot to Jim's family and friends! You just turned me on to something I didn't know existed, which is that there is a Kevin Gray version of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. The hunt begins...Now! Also, you asked that we share an album that was purchased from the Jim bin... I picked up a few records from his collection but the one that is taking up some time on my turntable is Fogerty's Factory. Being a pretty big CCR fan I really thought this would be a filler for the completion list, but I am really enjoying this release. It sounds almost as if John and his family came into your living room with some instruments and put on a show of varied music that he sung throughout his career. It's pretty cool. Lastly, that Portishead you picked up is definitely in my top 10 albums of everything I have in my collection - great choice. Cheers -Ray

This selection really demonstrates the breadth of Jim's taste. That Donald Byrd is AAA (All the albums from the Blue Note 80th series are - they are the predecessor of the ongoing Classics series). I'm so happy you are getting deeper into funk and soul. That Al Green album is amazing front to back. I have the Speakers Corner AAA reissue. And Monophonics - yeah, they are great. I prefer The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble, but if you see anything put out by Colemine records, it is definitely worth your time.

I can’t believe you didn’t take the Better than Ezra album. Nightbird contains all the songs on Live At Blues Alley plus everything else she performed at those shows. I thought you had bought Live At Blues Alley when you first got into her. You might want to check your stacks.

all portishead dummy vinyl pressings except the greek one are missing the track "its a fire".. i know, that this track was not on the very very first cd version, but very short after, the track was added and its one of my favourites.. thats why i avoided buying this on vinyl.. and the greek pressing is wax too expensive and sound quality is questionable (i guess) due to the long(er) running time... cheers! 😁

Jim seems to have been a random, collect anything buyer. These folks rarely have any interest in music, just a 'something' to collect. I sell to these folks quite often, fascinating.

You couldn't be more wrong. His high school girlfriend reached out to me after my first video to tell me that Jim has always had an extremely eclectic music taste and would make her mixtapes and they'd go to shows of all different genres from Genesis to Whitney Houston to Fishbone. He truly just loved music.

@@TooManyRecords That comment should go viral!! Unless you were attempting humour with the ''eclectic'' Genesis, Houston, Fishbone, which seems unlikely. Folks serious about music are unlikely to own Sabbath, Houston, Santana etc, records. My point was folks with these types of vinyls tend not to be that interested in music, there may be exceptions, plus one would need to look at the whole collection, not a few.
