Four Zed! lmao! Its all prep mate, part of the grander plan. I took my Nephew last time to get him hooked (pardon the pun!) using a failsafe method that would catch us the tiddlers, which we got, mission accomplished. This next mission was to learn and understand the place and the larger fish and their habitat for next time he comes along. The effort put in now will hopefully pay dividends for him and feed his enthusiasm for getting away from the PS4 etc! lol! All teaching important skills as well, like patience, earning an affinity with nature, very few people ever get to see Kingfishers in real life for example, he had that experience last weekend, that chuffed me to bits! Great stuff love the look of that pond. You cant beat a bit of up close fishing in a small enclosed swim like that. I used to do a lot of big carp fishing and have some strong kit but I do really enjoy catching small carp and tench on my light Avon rod. Hope to get out next year and do some videos. Atb Steve

beautiful fish, and a beautiful location. Top job mate. Last fish I caught was as a kid, where the spinner had impaled the 1 inch something or other in the side, eeek, lol.

lots of tiny bones in carp. they dont taste bad but the bones can be a distraction. if you cut them up in one inche cubes and pressure can them with spices and some dijon mustard in the jar they taste like sardines. You can also smoke them for several hours between 150 and 200. I like catching carp because they are freshwater fighters . Carp are daytime fish, they go to sleep after sundown and the other fish come out. Just before they shut down for the night they get real active.

As well as all the fun and pleasure you just demonstrated a really calorifically efficient way to feed a fair few people...if needs be. very little energy burned off compared to a possibly comparitively far more active active and prolonged distance based hunt. Those four fish in less hours would have provided a decent pile of flesh to improve a few veggies or stockpiled rice/pasta. Almost letting the food come to you. Nice one. And relaxing as hell . May need to dust the old gear off.

mate you will die in a survival situation - you have to eat to live - important protein in fish. we had hundreds of funder flashes, 1 would get us around 15 fish in 20 seconds, much more efficient. lol joking aside mate, you have a good skill there, i could never do it - had a couple of mackerel of a pier once :) well done you paul - not bad fishing at all mate - see you at the weekend

LMAO! Its also about long term sustainability though isnt it? Funder flashes I have never tried but I can help but think there may be a very short lived sense of satisfaction to a fishing trip that was over in minutes rather than enjoying a few hours on the bank! :-) Looking forward to it! Darren Stewart No, my woods are high up in the chiltern hills, and there is no real body of water to speak of.This was from a private fishery that I visit, with quite a remote snake lake river, nice and peaceful and quiet as everyone usually dismisses the snake lake and goes they fish for the big carp on the main lakes.
