I just found out about this game and I'm addicted. It's truly a nerds dream. I'm constantly taking time to check out the units I'm fighting cause there's such a huge variety of factions. I can't believe I got this for $20 on steam.
If I could make a suggestion, at the end I would have added a quick overview that generalizes what you said about each faction, something easily quotable, something like "Skaven and Vampire Coast for meatshield front lines and very good ranged, Lizardmen for charging things, Dark Elves for glass cannons, etc etc"
I know Dwarves is the right faction for me, even after 2k hours into total warhammer 1-2. I hate cav, and I don't like to micromanage too much, I love strong infantry lines and good artillary. Unfortunately I am too stubborn to accept it. =|
You guys kidding 1. It’s only a hour if you can spend time on this game to get good at it you can watch this vid 2. There are a lot of factions and he has taken the time to tell you as much as he can without getting to complicated
This was a great video! Love how you laid out every army to look at while going over them. Would love to see this done again with all the Immortal Empires factions we have now in 2022/2023.
Great video! I came back after a long time to Warhammer 2 and was suddenly so overwhelmed trying to think who should I try (Back then it was Dark Elves too). Thanks to you I know that actually Lizardmen and Vampirates suits my style the best. Gotta go with the Vampire Coast!
Hey Tovlasek thank you! Nicely done on that Vamp Coast is definitely one of the more unique experiences absolutely loved abusing the necroflex + gigantic crab combo.. too fun!
After you brought up Jurassic Park, all I could see was a triceratops tunneling through high elves, corpses on its horns as the Jurassic Park theme song plays in the background...magnificent creatures 🤣🤣
Great video! I would add that Skaven front line is mostly made of single entities especially plague priests with their summon units + menace below. Entire front is just for crowd control purpose and then back line does „Kill-Kill! Yes-yes” and battle is over 😂 in campaign food is broken machnic that helps. You can instantly upgrade conquered city to tier V
Scourgerunner Chariots are some of the BEST units in the game, AP missile damage that's anti large, super sonic speed, and anti infantry with good charge bonus. They're absolutely the best chariot in the game.
Choose your faction: HIGH ELVES - good all around, best archers in the game and mighty dragons LIZARDMEN - strong infantry supported by giant monsters, cavalry and ranged are average DARK ELVES - good all around, they do not excel anywhere SKAVEN - bad (expendable) infantry meant to just buy time for the best range/artillery units in the game, some cool monsters and war-machines. No cavalry VAMPIRE COAST - entirely focused on ranged units protected by weak zombies and some cool, durable monsters. No cavalry TOMB KINGS - top-tier monsters (called constructs) and good ranged units, average infantry and cavalry EMPIRE - good all around, good cavalry and artillery, average infantry and no monsters DWARFS - defensive gameplay with top-tier infantry, ranged and artillery. No cavalry and no monsters GREENSKINS - aggressive gameplay, average everywhere with good damage but poor leadership VAMPIRE COUNTS - good infantry, cavalry and monsters. Strong, unique magic. No ranged NORSCA - aggressive gameplay with good infantry and mammoth BRETONNIA - top-tier cavalry, average elsewhere WOOD ELVES - very good ranged units, not much else BEASTMEN - good monstrous infantry, not much else CHAOS WARRIORS - best infantry in the game, some good monsters. No ranged Personally I love TOMB KINGS and CHAOS WARRIORS, BYE :)
Malekith was my first campaign! 10 hours! 150+ turns! Allied all of the Dark Elves (Eventually taking ground after a 30 turn siege) and ended up losing the save right when the Tomb Kings arrived 😆 Now I play Thorgrim, so far I’m in deep doodoo with Grimgor and Azhag, but I WILL TAKE THE BADLANDS!
3:30 or so. For the High Elves I always have a mix of Lothern Sea Guard (Shields) and Sisters of Avelorn with support of 2 Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers, 2 Dragon Princes, and 2 Star Dragons. Obviously, late game armies. What I usually do is do the defensive thing what you said and then use my artillery to target enemy archers while my cavalry and dragons target enemy artillery and enemy cavalry. By the time the enemy infantry and archers reach my archer's line of fire they are usually done for. If they survive that onslaught then my lothern sea guard will go into melee and engage the weakened enemy infantry. I also typically have the Sword Masters of Hoeth and Phoenix Guard units as well that will target the higher tiered infantry. I might also have a mage in my party unless my lord is a mage and can use offensive magic. 26:50. I love the Empire. I also do something similar with the Empire as I do with the High Elves. I stay on a hill or something and have my many artillery and mobile units take out key enemies before they can engage my front line. I usually have tons of swordsmen and either spearmen (Shields) or the halberds for anti-large. I then have a mix of various ranged units for closer ranged (crossbows and hand gunners). I love using the Hellstorm Rockets and mortars. Each army will have 1 steam tank. Usually have 2 units of Reiksguard. HEY! (29:28) I love the War Wagons since they are very useful as a skirmisher and the War Wagon with Mortar is awesome as a mobile artillery. I like to use both kinds of war wagons as well as outriders with rockets to basically really damage the enemy before they make it to my artillery line of fire or it can motivate them to move towards me and not turtle up. Only I can turtle up. What’s strange is that I don’t like playing as the dwarves even though I like turtling up.
thanks for this - great video. Played as Empire through a full campaign in TWWH1, then High Elves in 2 (teclis on vortex, then tyrion on mortal empires). Haven't played any since as couldn't decide which faction to go with. Based on this I think I'm going to go with Vampire Counts - I like being in the centre of the old world, and also the lack of ranged should be a perfect contrast in style to High Elves :)
Vampire counts are damn fun, really unique tools and the lack of ranged forced you to be creative... besides they have some of the best cav in the game
sup! Just another little streamer from Canary Islands (Spain) in here. Just want to say that I wish you the best, this video its gonna provide with hours of joy in the game. Be strong in the infernal path of the streamin!
Greetings from a Krown's Crypto-cavian! So cool that you're into total war! I haven't played total war since Medieval II, and have been wanting to get back in with the recent Warhammer games. So keep it up, the channel looks great! BTW, do you think I should skip the first one and go straight to TW Warhammer 2 ?
Hey good to see ya here and thank you haha.. as for going straight to TW2 yeah I would suggest, can always pick up TW1 after if you like it and it'll just expand the experience
@@totalkrown7829 which faction would you recommend for my first campaign? i like to play the traditional way, coloring the map, but i don't like britain very much
Just started downloading Warhammer 2 and can't wait to play it! This faction knowledge has already put me way ahead of where I need to be... Great video!
I know you stream a lot on Twitch and use it there, but i think you should drop the electric overlay for videos. It dosen't really add anything for me and is just slightly annoying/distracting. That said i liked the video, there are a few things i disagree with (but lets be honest no one will ever totally agree with you on everything when it comes to a big game like Warhammer) that said overall i think you gave a decent explanation of each of the factions.
I played Tyrion in my first play session and absolutely dominated everyone around me. Once I took over the entire island no one dared to fuck with me so I could simply destroy every enemy one by one that I got involved in by my alliances. That was like... 3 days ago until today.... I just started playing this game, but it 's going great and I love it! lol :D (probably should have taken a higher difficulty settings though, because it 's gotten kind of easy at the later stages... I have like 35.000 income, but it 's probably related that I already have experience with these type of genres).
“Vampire economy is gutter” - if by gutter you mean strong…. Their elite units are strong/expensive but if you don’t over spend on elite stacks (have a balanced army instead) then you can easily have a very strong economy.
Picked this up a couple weeks back after buying a new PC, only just seen the video but great video nonetheless. Personally love the Skaven, Vamp Counts, Wood Elves, have tried getting into dark elves but just never really enjoyed them. But great video!
@@totalkrown7829 exactly! Im a veteran Total War player but new to Warhammer. Each faction has something that I would like to try or play with. They all seem pretty cool and different but I just dont have the time to play many different campaigns which makes it hard to commit to one.
@@enzosw There's one major problem with the Empire though. They serve. Why would you let yourself be bound trying to appease some pitiful elector counts? Settra... Settra does not serve.
Norsca got way too much hate. It's VERY very fun. Dude. Just get two of those horse spearmen and watch them get behind the enemy and skewer them as they're already getting killed by your infantry and it's great
I'm kinda a paradox. From all the factions I've played my top 2 thus far are Dwarves and Norsca I still haven't played, chaos, Wood-elves, Vampire coast, Tomb kings, Beastmen or Bretonnians. I like the dwarves due to high armor, good staying power, good morale, pretty good arty and range, fairly tough infantry, and an excellent economy if your playing Karaz-a-Karak. I enjoy how you can kind of just make a stronghold in the mountains, slowly expanding out and beating back the greentide from the south and the vamps/empire to the north However, I also really enjoy playing Norsca (Specifically Throgg the Troll King, like his bonus for trolls over Wulfrick's mammoths (fairly late-game unit) and marauders (your meat shield unit) Which I like for it's challenging economy, strong focus on monsters, and being on the offense blitzkrieging thru factions and razing everything that gets in your way. Though they have no arty to speak of, and a poor selection of archers I still love the fact that you have to play smart with your limited range capabilities and support the fairly low armored infantry with monsters throughout in order to make sure that a section of the front line doesn't collapse. They are two very, very, very distinct playstyles in my opinion, yet out of every faction I've tried, these 2 take the top. I'm curious about trying out the tomb kings and wood elves, but not sure, after watching this video, fairly sure I'd like the tomb kings, but still skeptical about the wood elves, love the massive range, but they seem a bit squishy, is that an accurate assessment, or am I completely wrong and based on me liking Norsca and the dwarves would they be a good faction? (Seems like wood elves do have the long-range of the dwarves coupled by the monsters/dryads/treekin that I like from norsca to me, but figured get some opinions, and heard that wood elves suck up till this last update, since then haven't heard much, kinda wondering wether that means opinions have changed or if everyone's to busy playing wood elves to type up their new opinion on them lol)
I think the obvious answer is play only Seraphon because Nakai is a big boi Or Skaven cause guns and nukes Or tomb kings cause Egyptians Or Greenskinz cause you can’t not like Wurzzag the Great Green Prophet Or Vampire Coast because Luthor is Jack Sparrow turned up to 11 Or Drucchi cause Malekith and Lohkir are bad ass Or Norsca cause Wulfrik is awesome Or wood elves because Durthu is tree hitler and I really like that for some reason
You kidding me? Liazardmen have some of the best artillery in my opinion. For two reasons. Want to shut down that solar engine? Gotta kill it first, and good luck with that. Not in a good position? no problem, send it into melee.
A script would have helped a lot 80% of the time you say „ oh no the faction is really bad at doing x buut xou can use thiese and those units so its not a problem at all“ but other wise rather informative video
Infantry of wood elves is surprisingly far better than high elves. They look almost same, but at same situations I found wood elves perform far better. Sure high elves have better large units, have some artillery and can get more troops in campaign. But still, I found wood elves more reliable at least in infantry department, which is my main focus anyway.
Tombking weakness is the amount of armies they can deploy as your armies are very limited in number as for example I deploy 20 dwarf armies but they have 7 at max if I'm correct so they are almost always 60vs20 at worst times on average u cant win that all the time
You even play Empire or my fav Napoleon Total war? I loved the Naval in that so much. Prob my fav of all time. I used to watch and was the guy who rode BNB from like 4$ to 20$ a year back . Doubt you remember me as there are lots of viewers but awesome to see you make a Strategy gaming channel as that is ALL I play lol. Stellaris is another good one but got bored of it recently. Might have to actually buy Wahammer 2 now that I am watching this.
I am a Warhammer fan but I never played Total War games. If I buy the Basic game without add-ons,can I play Chaos Scenario and pick them in a multiplayer match?
Month late so you probably figured it out by now but the answer is no, you need their DLC in warhammer 1 to play as them, unless by scenario you mean against them, in that case it would be yes, the dlc adds stuff for everyone, and buying it allow to play as that faction
BTW do you know when TWWH 1 will go on sale? I really want to play mortal campaign but I don’t want to pay full price for it. How often ist total war sale ? Here is another video idea: differences between mortal campaign and vortex campaign.
Id play norsca but the copy pasted red bearded guy bothers me. I wish there was a mod to mix up the faces or atleast hair colors or put helmets on them.
Hey Krown, you should try Mount and Blade Bannerlord. I played TW series and enjoyed it but Mount and Blade is addicted AF. Has a lot of TW elements but ads trading part, Quest and role playing elements. Thank me later :-) Forget to wish you the best of the best and the happiest of the happiest because why the fuck not :-)
