Everybody is built different structurally. Some hip joints face forward where others face out. Skeletability in kinesiology now recognizes this. Therefore it's not always good on knees for a person who has hips facing outward. There night need to be a little external rotation. I've been taking and teaching martial arts for over 2 decades now👍

this will help but there are better exercises for the back. I recommend working with a coach and following a good rehab program. If you're recovering from surgery, finding exercises on RU-vid isn't a good strategy. You will most certainly include exercises that aren't good for you.
@TatooedDoc
@TatooedDoc 8 месяцев назад
@@UnityGymOnline my strength coach has gotten back to me and agreed this was one exercise I can do at this time. I am an ER doc and have weight trained for 41 years and I have a reasonable amount of understanding of what I can do. I have to avoid any shear to my abdominal wall, as well as direct ab work. This seems to work the core without shearing the abs, although its not ideal. Strength coach added wall side planks. There is little direct back work that wont require engaging the abs too much. I also can not do much for quads and while this isnt a builder it should help w some strength and stability in lieu of essentially nothing. Also the docs are rarely helpful with these questions, they just dont generally know much about it. Thats coming from a doc of 30 years.

I'd need to know a lot more about what else happened at that time. Often it's because you weren't holding the position properly, then you understood something (that you didn't before) and starting holding it correctly. That can significantly reduce hold time, but it's because you're doing it better ;)
@vertix681

@@UnityGymOnline I'm not actually sure why it happened, mostly because it was pretty long ago. But it's not because of my technique, I've always been trying to hold it the correct way, since it took months to progress from 1:40 to 11:20. It seems like my legs started to hurt a lot more at that point and the lack of consistency made me lose mental strength to hold it for longer. I recently got back to it and I struggle a lot. @@UnityGymOnline 27yrs of experience trained by US West forms, combat and weapons champion and another famous Chinese Grand Master. I’ve had my own spread in men’s health, multi sport semi professional University and semi pro coach and world games qualifier. You’re missing 2 key aspects. Technique is everything. One involves alignment of what easier explained as chakras and the other your breath technique. I’ve seen the correct answers from no one anywhere so don’t feel bad. Keep searching it’s good for the soul, you’re almost there.
@UnityGymOnline
@UnityGymOnline Год назад
@@Luv2Boogie I think we will have to agree to disagree here. Correct technique in Wu Shu basics seems to differ from teacher to teacher. Plus, I'm not showing anything about breathing here. All I'm doing is explaining the body position for absolute beginners. Ankles, knees, hips, back etc. You're describing the higher level aspects of practice which is irrelevant to a beginner.

@@UnityGymOnline thankyou for showing the Yang. When you can explain the Yin you are ready.
@UnityGymOnline
@UnityGymOnline Год назад
@Luv2Boogie ah yes, there it is ... the "when you can do this, you are ready" condescending comment so common from self proclaimed elitist martial artists. I have zero interest in explaining the yin. The amount of time someone has to devote to internal Kung Fu is unrealistic for almost anyone who has goals outside of kung fu. And as I already said, I'm not trying to teach that here. I practiced Xing Yi for 10 years. I stood in the San Ti everyday for anywhere from 10-30 minutes each side. I practiced rooster walking for 20 minutes a day without coming up or stopping. I practiced 5 elements for an hour a day. I know far more about the vague concepts that you're alluding to than you realise. And I stopped my pursuit in mastery of Kung Fu over a decade ago. It's empty and has little to offer when compared with learning completely new things. There are far more valuable things that we can do with our time than devote an obscene amount of our lives to a practice that has no end to it. I've seen first hand where the dogmatic practice of Kung Fu leads to in the modern world. It doesn't end well for people. It's a lonely life

@UnityGymOnline
@UnityGymOnline Год назад
5 minutes is absolutely for beginners. The issue has nothing to do with strength, it's got to do with discipline. You get to the maximum pain/discomfort you will feel at around the 1 minute mark, it doesn't get worse from there, it's just that most people can't handle the discomfort and stop. Also, beginners going for 5 minutes stand much higher than an experienced martial artist

@ReienNagi you don't fight like this, it's to build strength, flexibility, endurance. And there are moves where move into a horse stance. But you don't stand and fight in a stance. That's why traditional martial artists get there ass kicked by MMA fighters. They think this is used for fighting, it's not.
