My mom went to watch the ring in a empty theater, by herself, thinking it was a romantic movie.

WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME

One thing I didn't notice on the first viewing was Samara's response in the hospital interview. She says the same thing in both versions, but they mean different things. "You don't mean to hurt anyone, do you?" "But I do." The first time, it's presented as her apologizing, feeling ashamed of the fact that in spite of her wishes, she does end up hurting people. After Rachel rescues Samara, we see this interview again. This time, "but I do" means "No, I absolutely do mean to hurt people."

I'm not going through 400+ comments to see if anyone else has talked about this, but fun fact, if you watched The Ring on VHS, it opened with the ring video. That was the first thing on the tape. And then showed previews which took away some of the creepiness, but there was a proper oh fuck moment when it started.

Chelsea and James doing the same mannerism at 51:28 is the cutest thing in the world.

3:08 Whenever my family brings up The Ring, my dad talks about the time he went to see the movie in theaters for the first time. At the end of the movie, someone from the seats stood up and shouted 'PG-13 MY ASS!!'. It's funny almost every time he brings it up.

I see as either Jason or Leatherface as a Hufflepuff. Both loyal to their families and hard workers too ,fulfilling their murder tasks and with Leatherface helping with the family in ways. And Jason is a great finder. Although 2009 Jason could be Ravenclaw, with all those traps and methods he uses. I think horror villians have more a variety than just Slytherin.

I am 100% down with the aimless Podcast. Pick the MOST coherent David Lynch movie you can, and GO TO TOWN ON IT. I'd be down for 3-4 hours of "....so....we don't know why, but there's a person behind a dumpster? And they talk about it in the diner. Then they go to look at it. And the guy straight-up DIES from a heart attack?!?" ::channeling James for that line::

‘The Ring’ was one of the first horror movies that spooked me

Watching this solely because I absolutely love this film & wanna relive it but I can't afford the weeks worth of nightmares that actually rewatching it would gaurantee

Does anyone notice how each time you see the footage from the tape, a little bit more is added to the very end. The last time you see it, you just see Samara’s hair start to come out of the well before it cuts to static.

This was the first horror movie I ever watched. My cousins told me about it when I was younger, and what sold me on it was when they told me that they had nightmares for weeks. It has a very special place in my heart

This is now my favorite channel. And the podcast is amazing as well. I hate to request because I know you don’t like those, but this is more of a recommendation. I’m pretty sure you guys have seen the first conjuring movie, and Annabelle, and I 100 percent recommend that you watch the rest of the series, especially with the nun coming out early September. Just a recommendation... but seriously, you guys are the most entertaining people of all time. The people that you feel like you know without even meeting them. The Ring is one of my all time favorite horror movies, saw it in the cinema when i was 16 and it scared me to death. I had bought a dvd earlier that day and when i came i looked at the tv, looked at the dvd and i just said fuck it and went to bed. The thing that fucked me up (except that fucking creepy opening ( i had not seen any japanese horror at the time so this was all brand new to me) was the funeral when the mom goes i saw her face... that image burned itself into my mind so bad i literally did not sleep well for 2 weeks straight, every night when i turned of the lights i saw that face . Of course i bought the movie the day it came out on dvd and even the menu creeps me out. To this day (im 34 now) i still struggle to watch it alone because my mind ALWAYS go back to that first time i saw it.. With others its a breeze but you will never find me all alone in a dark room watching the ring... i just freak myself out.

I love this movie!! Definitely watch the japanese ringu and ring zero as well. In the japanese one they do let you like sadako/samara as well, because if I remember correctly in the prequel she joins this theatre group and she gets blamed for murders that happen there or something like that and you actually feel sorry for her

This movie, the grudge, & 1408 is what got me into horror as a kid. & now I’m a horror fan for life 😜

The Ring was not only the scariest movie I had seen, but the face turned out to be super important to me, personally. This movie helped me realize some issues I had at the time. Happily, I don't think I have those problems anymore-but the movie remains special to me.

The first time I watched the ring, I was watching it in my bedroom by myself. Right after the tape sence, my mother walked in with the phone and was like " yeah, yeah here she is." Gives me the phone " its for you" I was kinda freaked out

Freddy VS Jason (2003) is also color grated with nightmare sequences being red and anything Jason related is either blue or green.

i know that this is from 2018 however i just now found this video and i couldn't help but watch and listen as one who graduated with a degree in broadcasting in 2006 for both radio and television in regards to the ring when it is mentioned about the videotape having a control track or otherwise known as a pulse count without such there is no video image every time when somebody would record something onto a videotape they are creating a control track or pulse count until they press stop then the track or pulse is broken so in the ring when noah says there is no control track technically there shouldn't be any but white noise on screen but since this tape is cursed something supernatural is going on review any scene where they show the counter on the vcr and how it gliches

I watched this movie in theaters with my old bff, Freshman year of HS. I've watched this movie over a dozen times, but I will never forget when my friend got jump scared so bad that she flung her full tray of nachos into the seat in front of her lolol
