For those who don't know, Postal 1's ending was not changed due to it being considered offensive or anything like that, but because the devs thought that the idea of school shootings was no longer shocking as it became more prevalent.
Yes, humans are fucked, it would been better shock value at this point making the postal dude an furry minecraft youtuber.@@daiymohermitaurenjoyer9160
@@daiymohermitaurenjoyer9160 Postal 1 predates Columbine, if I remember correctly it was mentioned to be found on one of the shooters computers along with doom and other games with violent themes. At the time no one really thought anyone would shoot up a school. My dad would tell me stories about when he was in highschool, they were able to bring their rifles in and keep them in their lockers so they could go hunt after school, something that genuinely couldn't happen anymore.
When you try pacifist on Postal 2 you can realize truth about this game. This is the story about average dude who just tries to do his own things but he is living in city of madness, psychos, killers and morons where only police tries to do anything to keep order, I felt sorry for dude when I realised that...
which is the opposite of postal 1, where the postal dude thought that everyone was against him but it turns out that only he was the maniac in a normal world
Yeah, the tagline makes more sense now after playing it for a while, our actions were the sole reason the military came to town to find the mass "killer"
Postal is such an interesting franchise. What started as a genuinely disturbing look into the mind of violent, misanthropic man, turns into an over-the-top, crude, dark comedy where the Postal Dude does the Invincible "Think Mark" meme to himself.
*Postal:* Deconstructive nihilism. *Postal²:* Pure absurdism. *-Postal III:-*- a mistake.- *Postal 4:* It exists, and deserves to. *Postal Brain Damage:* dumb fun.
That is the point. The game is meant to make you feel like you're reading and experiencing a psychotic episode. Which gets much more creepier as you play along making you question if dude is mentally disturbed or something else at play that is making him go insane something more demonic. We dont know and will ever know about that dude
@@cole5953 he is a character from a game unrelated to postal called HATRED yes that's how they spell title he is no way related to the dude or his dad as we already know who his dad is. Go play postal 4 if you want to know or watch it on RU-vid. Hatred is consider a knock off postal having similar plot and gameplay but that's it.
@evandaymon8303 no I meant the dude from postal 1. I know not important is from hatred. I remember hatred from how controversial it was and how shit the game turned out to be lol
Funny enough, there’s now a mod where you can add Dude as a companion in New Vegas. It’s still in it’s early stages, but I’d say it’s a worthy add-on for Postal 2.
i will always love Running With Scissors for acknowledging how shitty Postal 3 was and actively making an effort to improve. that's something even most indie developers cant even do
One of the dumbest and most offensive ever, but yes. Postal 2 is technically very close to being an immersive sim-style game. Postal Dude has several non-linear objectives he can complete in any order he chooses, and the game has several complex features like a semi-intelligent A.I that react to your presence and random events. There are also a ton of items you can use and interesting ways to interact with the world (such as being able to bribe Krotchy with your money or a copy of Gary Coleman's autograph to let you purchase a Krotchy doll). The only thing that holds it back from being a true Immersive Sim like it's contemporaries, however, was its lack of RPG elements. Y'know, my idea of what is an "Immersive sim" is that it's not a game genre, but rather a byproduct of how the game is. It's more of a design philosophy that can be applied to any genre, if you ask me. That is, a linear game that allows and accepts multiple ways to succeed in your objectives, including those that the devs did not intend. It's completely consequential and attempting to intentionally make one leads to poor results.
The voice of protagonist in that russian add-on is the official russian VA of Deadpool (and pretty much the VA of Ryan Reynolds at this point). No kidding.
Im just gonna list the thing you missed: - Postal redux has 2 different endings depending on difficulty - you didn't cover the rampage mode of postal redux which has a hotline Miami like scoring and grading system (and unique ending and has a banger OST) - coop in postal redux also has its own ending, loading screen text etc. - RWS actually had a say in Postal 3's development but yes the majority of the work was done by trashmasters Nonetheless I would recommend watching the official dev diary that is on RU-vid -postal 3 was NOT patched by RWS and RWS DID NOT take it down It was Steam The patching was done by crazy people who actually mod postal 3 (one of them being a ex trashmasters dev) - I'm not sure if you know but you didn't mention that brain damage is made by hyper strange which is a studio who know their way with boomer shooters -im not sure how true it is but postal 4 was made because RWS was desperate for some cash and it's still their money maker so they have a different reason for patching postal 4 since it's the only game that they aren't selling for like 2$ on their site -gone postal is not part of the Postal 3 OST and was part of the 25th anniversary celebration -the 20th anniversary patch for postal 2 was actually negatively received from my perception due to it braking mods and being way buggier than the previous version That should be all I think
Oh yeah right postal redux and hatred both reference eachover due to hatred being a spiritual successor (and failing miserably at it and the devs hosting recent staged/rigged modding contests (not kidding) And postal redux even has a Easter egg where you can play as not important himself
Your POSTAL 4 info is hot garbage. We didn’t spend LITERALLY millions of dollars because we “needed cash”. That’s not how needing cash works. We made a game that we wanted to make and we’re still spending money on it because it’s not done
These games really do be like the Shrek movies: -the first one is flawed but interesting and has a well-written narrative. -the second one is so much fun. -the third one.... -the fourth one is.. alright but million times better than 3.
@@user-en6jw2cc4nFor me, I'd honestly say that the Postal franchise is more like the video game equivalent of Troma films. It's schlocky, crude, irreverent, very obviously produced on a tight shoestring budget, and outrageously revels in its tastelessness with little to no regard for everyone's feelings, but at the same time, it's so hilariously over-the-top and charming to the point you can't help but smile at the sheer audacity of it all.
It’s still surprises me how drastically different the first postal game is from the postal 2 but honestly they made a wise decision choosing to change the direction of the series to be more of a edgy sandbox.🐱
Uwe Boll looks exactly like a perfect Postal movie director candidate for the job, down to money laundering allegations. Vivienne Medrano couldn't win against Uwe in terms of "Postal or even South Park" writing & handling criticism. Because he would never trully be at a loss, if he never loses his own self. And he does not strike me as a person to give 2 cents about all the hate...
Imagine if every single day a new fucking fake twitter controversy showed up against you every second and you are being called a satanist, How fucked up your brain would be? Vivziepop has a lot of issues sure but just imagine how broken her mind must be, I like the postal franchise and movie
7:58 are you kidding me? There was a major school shooting in an elementary school back in 1979 that a girl pulled off because she said she hated mondays. Before that there was a sbiper at a texas university in the 60s heck japan had whole school takeovers that sometimes lasted for days on end in the late 60s to early 70s.
Little fun fact: Corey Cruise also voiced on Postal 2 Paradise Lost as Other Dude and Brain Damaged. and Postal 4, there was a "bug" on new feature "Drop Kick" where you can bounce into a trampoline in a drop kick position over and over until you touch the ground, RWS keep it based on community vote. Amazing Devs🤟.
Whole reason for corey is because rick couldn't do the thing at the time especially when postal 4 was made till much later. Everyone loves corey's take on the dude being much more older and pretty annoyed pissed off dude compared to rick's bit cheery and psychotic voice. Then we have john st mf john who sounds likea happy go lucky much more calmer and mellowed out dude Then zack from postal movie comes back in 4 as the dude this time not himself. Postal is just simply making a multiverse
Skibidi Toilet is a machinima web series of RU-vid videos and shorts created by Alexey Gerasimov and uploaded on his RU-vid channel DaFuq!?Boom!. Produced using Source Filmmaker, the series follows a fictional war between human-headed toilets and humanoid characters with electronic devices for heads. Since the first short was posted in February 2023, Skibidi Toilet has become viral as an internet meme across various social media platforms, particularly popularized by Generation Alpha. Many commentators saw the series as Generation Alpha's first foray into internet culture.
@@JollyHaku a Georgian man ruined Russia and now a Russian man who came to Georgia will ruin the world. (When I mean Georgia I mean the country not the state)
Postal 1 to this day is one of the few games that give me a sense of pure madness and its creepy as fuck. Sure as a kid i knew postal 2 from the memes and its legendary status but the original will always be cursed.
Correct. It was written by the same guy as POSTAL 2 (except the Russian pyramid scheme crap). It’s just a bad game and yes we were responsible for the overall design.
What I find neat about Postal 2's design is that your objective is to run errands. The game gives you tools to kill people, but it's your choice whether to use it or not, and it doesn't admonish you for using them. It only informs you of your decisions and their effects in the results screen. And yes, at least one of the pacifist options is legitimately more painful than the violent alternative because it involves bad singing.
@@Flinch9000 I don't know why, but I would absolutely love to play a quirky Earthbound-inspired RPG that makes you root for the protagonist, by making everyone else literally the worst people alive lol
Postal series is like the finest vintage of toilet wines, and i say that with an absolute love for it. Well, except for that certain one that we do not talk about...
I'm an absolute diehard postal fan and seeing this video was awesome (even if ur postal 2 gameplay was totally ass lol). Your editing goes so well with the comedy of the series, I was laughing so hard the whole way through. Love ur vids man!!
You provide good comments on the commentary that Postal 1 makes, but I feel you could have gone a bit deeper on Postal 2's. Like you said, you can just wait in line, pay the money, and get through the game without being a complete psycho, all you really have to do it be patient. And that's pretty much the key to the point of the game (from my perspective). It's still following the game's title, but instead of controlling someone who's already gone postal, it's up to the player when and even if they go postal. It asks how much of boring, mundane, inconvenient, and often annoying normal life you can take before you decide to just pull out the guns and start blasting.
I have a very brief memory of seeing a couple kids playing this wierd game on my school library's computers where you got to pee on cats, a little hard to just forget you saw that. I always wondered what that game was, I now know that game was Postal 2. There could be no other. I wouldn't be surprised if the school banned it not long after which explains why I never saw it again. Until of coarse, you know, all the other times I've seen Postal on the internet.
I never liked the idea of the Postal Dude being possessed, I feel like "the demon" being a metaphor for mental illness is more fitting and more grounded in reality
Postal 2 is just as much of a deconstruction as the first game, but while the first game is a deconstruction of violence in games, Postal 2 is a deconstruction of how the media and politicians think about violence in games, because in Postal 2, you do not have to commit a single violent action, you only have to do chores and yet the game is seen as far more controversial than the art piece solely about killing people that was Postal 1, it says “this will get banned even though all of the worst things in it are purely what you do”, and it was banned by multiple governments. Postal 2 is exactly what everyone who tried to ban Postal 1, said Postal 1 was.
21:53 yeah so im here to correct some things : 1.Postal III WAS meant to be on console but those ports got cancelled 2.im not sure about this but Postal III's Multiplayer was also scrapped 3. the game was also meant to be open world (open world developments were still being prototyped) but hat also got scrapped so yeah the prerelease shit was only 1/2 lie
every other company gives me the vibe of a factory machine but running with scissors feels like an actual team of people who make good games with the help of the community
Oh, awesome! I love this series and glad to see more people bring it up. Something I do want to add, following Postal 2, there was the Apocalypse Weekend add-on that leads to the dude nuking the town (dont ask) which is what leads directly into Postal 3; however, since postal 3 was idk a little shit, that's where the Paradise Lost DLC for Postal 2 came around, where the lore is that the dude hit his head while driving which caused a giant hallucination that was Postal 3, only to have the *other* dude (Corey Cruise) be a figment of his imagination. You also break into Zack Ward's manor in that DLC (again dont ask). I'm not going to spoil what happens in Brain Damaged or 4, but it's important to note that some of the stories kinda don't transfer over either LOL. Oh! One more thing: If you want a more disappointing fall off than Postal 2 to Postal 3... well, my buddy Caleb down the road has something in store for you... something, Bloody.... [Semi fun fact about that series, the first game was made in the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D, the big one everyone knows so that's cool]
Postal III Is probably the most fascinating to me with it's rough development during 2008-2009 when the whole crash happened which really hit Postal III hard. But atleast we have Catharsis Reborn, pretty much a whole ass remake of the third game, and taking a lot that never made it Into Postal III. And honestly that project makes 4 kinda bland Imo.
I met the dude voice actor for poostal at work randomly, I work at a grocery store and the poostall royale dude va came in there I think his name is Christian hunter
I might be a bit biased about the postal games but the original postal, postal 2, postal redux and brain damaged are the only postal games worth playing.
While Postal 1 has it's flaws with it's controls, the game was even worse when I tried it in 2014 after buying it on Steam for $1. It crashed a lot and it didn't even have proper mouse support, but RWS had a small team patch the game around 2015/16 with modern controls and almost no crashes. RWS is one of those developers that surprisingly shows support and passion for their games and players which is something to really appreciate from them.
oh my god am i happy to hear postal being talked about rn, especially from you, it is one of my current hyperfixations. this game has had a special place in my heart for years.
You know, I think the world is ready for another dark and serious Postal game, like the first one I think it's been long enough, and it could really work if executed well, making a social commentary on the current world
Postal is an awesome series. I got Redux on all systems and bought the OG on Dreamcast, have 95% Achievements on Steam for 2, ..........., I got 4 on PC, PS4 and 5, Brain Damaged on PC and I have all the 2 Expansions through Zoom.
The transition from postal 1 to 2 seems jarring and like it makes no sense without context but what happened is pretty much postal 1 was a game with an actual message that was against violence. The media looked at it and demonized it repeatedly not remotely getting it and thinking the game showing just how horrific the protagonist is was trying to glorify violence. Postal 2 is essentially the response to how how postal 1 was treated becoming the very thing everyone accused postal 1 of being by becoming as edgy and over the top as possible
I'm falling in love with this series and I actually cracked out into laughter for the first time since listening to The Deathworlders series I want these games now
