The thing I like about Ross is that he knows he's corrupt and even though he took credit for John's work in rdr1, he still shot John in the front even after John called him out for shooting in the back
I keep hearing people say John wasn't as good a fighter as Arthur but people forgot that John took one the entire Mexican government and won, he fended off the entire US army while his family escaped and took out an entire tribe of rogue native Americans, I mean John's best feats were when he was closer to the end of his life.
@@justice_of_RU-vid what armies? Cause he ran from the US army and he didn't take down the guarma army alone, he had the gang, he didn't take them down either, he just delayed them, the rebellion in guarma wasn't over when he left but John left Mexico with a new government when he left.

Poetic justice: -Ross ends up suffering the same fate as John: He tries to retire, but the government keeps dragging him back to work, even disappearing for a time from the public eye to avoid having his violent past catching up to him. He even leaves enough of a trail for Jack to follow and eventually kill him. -Another point: For all his talk of civilization, where he ends up his days? In a shack far away from civilization, dressed like the cowboys he disdained.
I think Edgar Ross was born in 1854 not 1861 making him around Dutch's age which makes sense as he looks really old in rdr1 and plus he would've been only 2 years older than Arthur in rdr2 which is a bit strange.
I love John Marston tbh but…. John was a part of the Blackwater massacre in 1899. And then of all the places in the world, he could’ve chosen to move. He was completely fine with moving back to Blackwater in 1907, and lived there for 4 years as if he never did anything wrong to the people in the town right next to his ranch. Think of it like this someone from Osama bin Laden’s inner circle, is discovered to have been living about 1 mile away from Manhattan for years After the attacks of 911 happened. That would be insulting to the people of New York City to the highest degree possible the amount of arrogance, disrespect and indirect mocking, and just cruelty in choosing to do that is insane. Even if the man is remorseful you do not need to be a genius to think realistically *nobody* wants you living anywhere near them after what you did to that city. If you really did care, you would stay far away from that city and *never* come back. Or you would turn yourself in if you felt so “sorry” about the actions you committed. That’s more or less the stance I have on why Edgar kill John in the end anyway, he has no reason to think John is a better man. Clearly he doesn’t care about all the people he harmed in Blackwater or seemingly anywhere else for that matter. Him living there is a bold, and cruel slap in the face to the Blackwater Police Department, law enforcement in general and the citizens of Blackwater. When you look at it like that, you can’t really blame any Edgar for how poorly he treats John. he was asking to see the worst version of Edgar possible this entire game. Now I’m *not* gonna sit here and say Edgar was a good man. He literally said to Jack in rdr2 “enjoy your fishing kid while you still can” (with a brief vindictive laugh afterwards) there’s no reason why that man needed to say that to a little kid who is innocent in this whole situation. So no undoubtably Ross is not a good man. But John really was begging to see him at his worst. Perhaps if John had taken his family and moved to a random town somewhere else that had no connection to Dutch’s gang in any way and was living quietly just trying to be a productive member of society as a rancher maybe just maybe Ross might have actually let him live because he would have more of a case to justify doing so. But as it stands in rdr1 where he lives totally negated any character growth John could have in terms of trying to be a better person. Keep in mind i love John Marston as a character and I’m sad he died. but if I look at this objectively for what it is, you can’t really blame the Edger for how poorly they treated him or the fact that he decided to use him to hunt down his old gang and then kill him in the end anyway. I have to look at this objectively. there’s no way around it, just where John lives undermines the entire theme of redemption.
John was kinda stupid to move so close to Blackwater. Really, bro shoulda moved to Valentine. The Heartlands was probably the safest area in RDR2 and wouldn't have been a bad pick to raise a kid. Problem is, the gang went on a rampage there, too. Come to think about it, anywhere John coulda moved, he'd been on a rampage and killed a lot of people. Maybe he shoulda just gone to Canada.
@@lsswappedcessnaUnless you deliberately act like a savage at Pronghorn Ranch he was pretty peaceful in Strawberry. He only killed the outlaws at Hanging Dog and those clowns that tried to stop him on the road with his kid. He should have gone to Mexico tbh once he got his family back.
Earlier this year I played both games in chronological order, a great experience, I'm doing it that way from now on 👍 I already started another playthrough. During the fishing scene, Milton said a man matching Dutch's description did that train robbery during chapter one, but this time I had Arthur leave no witnesses so how is that description even out there 🤔 (I guess the rat was probably ratting since before Blackwater)
I wonder if Ross was meant to be Wyatt Earp of RDR considering his presence in the story spanning both games. I wouldn’t say Bill Hickok. He doesn’t got the draw to be Hickok. I just threw famous gunslinger names that is on the side of the law.
John was the equivalent of a modern day deniable op if he kills the bad guys they can claim it was revenge if it goes wrong and if it goes right then good job for the government boys and they can all pat themselves on the back and dispose of him so he doesn't challenge thier narrative 😂
