@@dds505 That's because they weren't counting international PPV buys back during the Attitude Era. If they were then nothing would have broken those records.
That would be HUGE. Should have happened 10-15 years ago, but it can still happen. Both could be bad guys or The Rock being the good guy and Steve the bad guy.
rock's wrong tho about when he joined the nation and he cut that promo and when he walked by austin and they were kept seperate cuz austin was the guy at the time rock's wrong there, austin wasn't the guy yet he was in the upper midcard through 1997 when the rock joined the nation austin wasn't the guy until wrestlemania 14.
Rock worked better with Jericho than Steve. Steve worked the best vs Vince and family. Rock was not a very good heel (sorry rock). Rock was the best babyface to ever work the crowd. Better than Hogan.
Rock saying that Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are the Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling and he himself is at the back of it truly shows how much respect Rock has for these guys!
4 me it's bret vs. hbk...it had a ryu vs. Ken from street fighter type of feel for me..out of all the ironman wwe matches nothing beats the original..also I think it's my personal favorite wrestling match of all time.. utube are you a you a good person by living waters
Mike Pfft hbk vs bret was a clash of ego's, became millionaires in wrestling and were to selfish to do the business they were asked to. The Rock vs Austin was a whole different game.
Well that had to be hard for The Rock Because you don't know when you're going to see him again. Often when folks retire you don't hear from them till they're dead
The rock vs stone cold is just classic and epic I grew up watching them and loved every second of it. Loved watching the rock constantly over sell the stunner lmfao.
Nobody can sell a stunner like the Rock! He, Stone Cold and Undertaker are my top 3 favorites ever, honorable mentions to Chris Jericho, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Kane and so many more
The rock and stone cold. My childhood. Thank you rattlesnake and thank you Brahma bull. Great memories watching you guys with my brothers on Monday night.
Man this brings back so many memories of my childhood. My brother and I would watch every match between these two and re-enact them afterwards on each. I would get goosebumps hearing "if ya smellllllll what the ROCK is cookin" or the infamous sound of the glass breaking before either of them entered the ring.
Rocks been an actor so long it’s nostalgic as fuck to hear him talk about Wrestling. I would love to see him shoot the shit and tell things from his perspective on a podcast
Every wrestler back then just felt bigger than life and not only that every match felt like an instant classic rather it was WWF, WCW, or ECW. I miss the glory days of pro wrestling.
Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were huge part of my life and my friends lives. Epics matches and very entertaining. Legendary Legends!!! Thanks you guys for what you have done in life!!
The Rock vs Stone Cold at WrestleMania 17 was the most hyped event of my childhood. Only issue I had was the way it ended with McMahon sticking his nose in it. Literally ruined the most PERFECT match that I’ve ever seen.
Have to agree. But it’s what Steve wanted. He hates the finish now. At that point I don’t see how you try and make the GOAT a heel in his home state and how you could try and sway the people away from either of these two at the time seems ridiculous in hindsight.
When the crowd chants "One more match!" while mentioning Steve at the WWE Hall of fame inducting two of your relatives, you know you got them. It's incredibly rare to see something like that happen today. As a fan the Austin/Rock Feud was by far one of the most unbelievable stories the two ever told.
To me, the Raw match in Louisville ,night after Survivor Series 98 after Rock joined the Corporation...that match between Champion Rock vs Austin, I knew this is going to be a big mania match. The crowd was going CRAZY that night for that match. Match ended in DQ (Undertaker hit Austin with a shovel) but was a perfect finish because if left room for wanting another match with them. One of my favorite, if not my favorite Rock vs Austin match. I did see the chemistry when Rock was in the nation between them but that night, I knew they were THE GUYS. Amazing
I remember the finish after the WM19 match when Rocky tapped him on the chest and spoke to him. Remember thinking that was strange. I assumed at time that Rocky was just saying thank you for a great match, and giving me a win over you at WM. Little did we know that both men would be gone within little over a month from that. It makes so much more sense now.
I would say the best rivalry in pro wrestling history due to how long it lasted and the level of athleticism both guys had. They were also the two biggest personalities in the wwf. It was like Celtics-Lakers in the 80's. Those two guys carried pro wrestling for about 5 years.
Making Austin a heel was never going to work. He was the ultimate Baby Heel Face! Even having him beat up Good Ol JR was never going to make the fans turn on him.
Love these behind the scenes stories, the chemistry, the brotherhood, the giving it all for the business, the trust, especially like Rock said when it came to dealing with Austin's broken neck.
When you watch the rock and stone cold their are sooo many similarities, yet they looked different.. The way they even spoke..saying "the fact of the matter is" in promos, they would refer to themselves in third person, they both had gimmicks with a guitar as heels, hell even stone cold use to say jabroni all the time before he got to the WWF... The chemistry was just there cause these two men are so similar, yet rivals, just love it.
I remember watching a segment between Rock and Austin when I was like 10 or 11 years old and being so excited that I was literally shaking. No feud can compare to that.
So happy they are close friends. 💖 I love their chemistry, rivalry and bond. Even now I still go back to watch their moments. Edit*** This is definitely going in my favorites. 🥺
I always like how the rock was stone cold last opponent. And one day he will be on the smoking skull podcast and it will be epic . Even bigger than taker. I believe.
Love Both the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Nobody sold the Stunner better than the Rock. I would Love to see the Rock on Stone Cold's podcast, the stories between these 2 Legends are epic and would be the Most Electricfying, Entertaining episode!
Arguably the greatest rivalry in wrestling history the stars were truly aligned pure magic can never and will never be duplicated truly was the best time to be wrestling fan.
Austin and Rock showed how the torch should be passed. Austin went out the right way....on his back looking up at the lights clean in the middle of the ring to pass your momentum to the next guy.
As a huge fan growing up and being a kid the rock and stone cold were my favorite wrestlers. I always wondered how the rock actually felt about Steve and the rock is such a great person for allowing us as fans to give us intel on how he feels about Steve. There both also great actors. Love every movie there in.
There was quite no rivalry like The rock Vs Stone cold, two megastars who were over as fuck for years. Both switching heel/face, never failing to draw in the big crowd.
This was great to watch. What a WrestleMania timeline. He spoke not only from his memory but from his heart. Amazing video. I want to meet both Rock and Austin just to pick their brains and what not. Anyways, much love and appreciation from a fan who admires Triple H more than the both of you lol. #TimeToPlayTheGame #IfYaSmell #AndThatsTheBottomLine #MyChildHood #MyIdols #LoveAndRespect
So true. You and Austin are two only rival if I say whose matches were the center of attention. And till today this remains unchallenged. Hope to see you two again in ring. In any other way or reason.
I just want to say that you and Stone Cold are my two favorite wrestlers of all time... Simply because you entertain me so much over the years.... And I know that you guys work so good together and entertain me very much... I just wished that both of you guys could have stayed in the business longer.... So that you could have taught the ones that are in there now how to do it..... I think a dream match would have been you guys against Bray Wyatt, a very creative person in the business... Yeah I'm sad for his passing away... I would have to say that he was another one of the special talents in the business... But anyway God bless Dwayne... I love you and Stone Colds movies.... I try to watch each one that comes out... If you talk to Steve, please give him my name and tell him that I loved him just as much as I love you... God bless you both.... Goodbye....
I always was impressed with one of Rock’s first matches with the undertaker. It was then I realized how big The Undertaker was. The Phenom’s title reigns should have longer, especially as a heel, but circumstances such as injury play a role.
To be honest, it was Rock v Austin that really ended the WCW reign.. The Rock came into his own at this time and without Austin it may not have happened. Like Rock/Austin have said elsewhere, it did not matter which was the good guy or the bad guy, the crowds lit up for both... The WCW had no answer to this kind of rivalry. So much charisma in two break all the rules/rough dudes who could work matches... I doubt there will ever be a rivalry like this again.
"he turned heel that night, turned into a bad guy that night.... Which was short lived though, cuz everyone loves Stone Cold Steve Austin" You could also say the same thing about Rock. Like when he was with the Corporation and people would still "sing along with the champ." Or during his Hollywood Rock run, when he actually had to tell fans"I'm the bad guy." 10 seconds later...."Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!" Which brought us gems such as this.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5oGNUMmHFsk.html
