Cool beans dude! I'm honored! I wanted to do $5 & write you a note. Find a group called Lonestar. They sound just like Bad Company. You won't believe the lead singer. The gentleman, Harmless Dave on You Tube tells us about good bands from Sweden & other places that are really good. I have a list of bands he has mentioned. I'll get them to you. I liked your review of Presence. We agree on a lot of things. Be safe. 😁🦚✌️
@@suepeacock3342 Lonestar Rocks! And I just got turned on to Harmless Dave! Great channel, Sue! I’ve been watching some of his content for about a week now!
I live an hour from Cleveland. I've been there twice, and I'll never go back for many of the reasons you stated. The committee was WOKE before WOKE was a word. As far as " Rolling Stone" magazine is concerned, my wife got me a subscription, in the early 2000s, the subscription lasted one year. I told her to save her money, it went from a decent 60-70s magazine to a dog. Good point.
I quit reading Rolling Stone after they started giving 5 star reviews to every latest release from icons like Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, etc., simply based on past performance. I got sick of spending my hard-earned money on crappy albums that had reviews that seemed like they were written by the artist's publicist.
Bruce Springsteen always gets five star reviews too. This may explain a lot of his success. Now going back to listen to his catalog, and to my ears it just ain’t that good. Yes there are a few songs that stand out. But his music, his singing voice, for the most part is mediocre. His producer, Jon Landau, used to be a critic for Rolling Stone. So maybe his friends gave Springsteen overwhelmingly great reviews for everything he did, be it LP's, concerts, out of friendship, or something. This is just my opinion. I always thought "the Boss" was overhyped. I could be wrong.
I always thought it was a crime that Link Wray has never been honored. Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, Iggy Pop, and many others have cited Link as a major influence. Link was pure rock and roll.
Thank you Michael for SHAMING " THE HALL OF SHAME" ...and that egotistical Jann Wenner! I love your channel. GEN X, 1965 and this video deserves a BRAVO 👏 and a RE-WARD for calling out the TRUTH!
Thanx so much Rhonda! I do truly have respect for Dolly, and though I still feel she’s misplaced in the R&RHOF, She’s got more Rock attitude than most!😉❤️👌👍✌️🌼🌼
Have you ever heard of the Professor of Rock? I saw a great interview with Burton Cummings and I said to myself how could they even think about putting all these rap acts in and not consider the Guess Who? Or bachman-turner overdrive, Canada’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll imports from the 1970s! It’s just horrifying how vicious, mean and vindictive Jan Wenner is!
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine I absolutely adore Burton Cummings. What an all around solid pure talent and a good guy. It seems like every time a list comes out for the hall of fame there is only one or two legitimate inductees. Your blah blah blah bit reminded me of Alex Lifesons acceptance speech when Rush was inducted. I must say as a Rush fan that was an amazing moment. Not because of the hall of fame but because of the appreciation shown to the band by the crowd and their fans. Falling in love with Rush as a teenager in the 1970’s placed me on a list of weirdo’s and oddballs. So going to a Rush show was always wonderful partly because you got to hang out with other fans and for a time know that you were not alone. I was really happy for those three humble guys on that day. And Rest In Peace to my hero Neil.
I luv Prof of Rock - R&RHoF is somewhat laughable; Steve Miller hit it right on (See his speech after on red carpet) - Nugent, ELP, Slade, etc etc DESERVE to be in (Also Guess Who -& BTO Saw interview yesterday)
Even Dolly said she doesn't belong there. At first, she did not want to accept the initiation but when the committee said they'd still induct her whether she wanted it or not she decided she'd go. I was at the Foo Fighters induction and discovered most initiates that night were hip hop artists. I went to see Taylor Hawkins & Dave Grohl but ended up having to sit through hours of LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Eminem, etc. I guess there is no other place for them to be honored.
And Jay-A-to-Y were there too, along with Eminem’s little brother M&M! And Jenifer’s sister Hi-Pez, cousin & heir to the Pez candy Company, and…… See what you did, ASF? You got me thinking, and that’s always so dangerous!❤️✌️🤔
Facts Michael. The hall of fame is a joke. It should be for rock artists. I would also include blues and R & B artists because that is the foundation of rock. But country, hip hop and jazz artists don't belong. Dolly said herself that she didn't belong there. Either keep it to rock artists or change the name to the music hall of fame and include all genres.
i suspect they picked dolly so they could get tv time and finally picked rush after they allowed fans to vote to get them to maybe join and or attend and get some money. ratings for the show are probably falling.
But country music is as much an influence on rock and roll as jazz or rhythm & blues are. Ringo Starr chose that stage name because it sounded Western to him, and he saw the "hillbilly" elements in rockabilly. 😉
There maybe should be a Soul-Rap-Hip Hop HOF. A Black Music HOF would be totally legit.Differences matter when making classifications. How about a Jazz HOF.Or change the places name to Music HOF.
i never saw the show but i think there was something about a family with shirley jones and david cassidy. or is there a cartoon rock show for little kids.
I completely agree. They should change the name to the "Recorded Music Hall of Fame" and somewhere else start the "Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame" with strict admission rules. And stop letting writers and critics elect for these things. Just like the sports HOFs. Despicable.
Great video, Michael! You had me laughing out loud a few times during that one. I'm going to refer to this video as the "Get off my lawn!" video....peace, my friend. Ernie
I firmly believe it can only be burned down and restored as. ROCK Hall of Fame. Rock and Roff is a sub genre of Rock, as is Blues Rock, Folk Rock, Psychedelic Rock and its cousin Acid Rock, Hard Rock. Grunge Rock, Art Rock, Alt Rock, Prog Rock, straight Blues, Soul, Metal, Sludge Metal, Swamp Rock, Southern Rock, Thrash Metal, Pop Rock, and others. And still others that further blend some these to still different variations. If you can’t fit in this very wide tent somehow, you belong in some other hall. And thus, GET OFF OUR LAWN.
Hi Michael, been enjoying the channel. I believe when Dolly was informed of nomination, she respectfully declined, but was told the ballots had already gone out. Kinda puts her in a bad position, because then if she doesn't accept...some would say makes her look ungrateful, which is not true, but you know how it goes. Also, the RNRHOF got rid of the sideman category, which was a good spot for those most certainly involved in music, just not necessarily a member of a band or group. Anyway...keep up the good work on your end. Peace, Love & Understanding.
You’re right Angela! This video was done back when she was still declining the award! And you know, she’s still more Rock & Roll than many of the nominations over the past 2 decades!❤️😉👌🌻
The RnR HOF has become irrelevant and a joke. As Johnny Rotten/Lydon of the Sex Pistols so aptly stated..."your hall is a piss stain, and your museum is like urine in wine; we're not coming". When the Stooges were inducted, the first thing Iggy Pop did during his acceptance speech was to give a double middle-finger aimed at the HOF, Jann Wenner, and the music industry execs. Steve Miller also 'slammed' the Hall when he was inducted. Look how long it took for Deep Purple to be inducted. Pathetic. So many bands that should have been inducted years ago...Jethro Tull, Grand Funk Railroad, etc.
The ONLY person in the Monkees who wasn't a musician was Davey Jones. Dolenza already knew how to play guitar but learned to play the drums for the role. Tork and Nesmith were seasoned musicians.
I went in the early 2000's and on display was the costume Britney Spears wore with a snake around here neck and of course everyone was rushing to that and the only real piece that had more then 1 person looking at it at a time and I mean like 100's at a time. Even as a teen that showed me what a joke it was. She shouldn't have anything near the RR Hall Fame. I worked in Live Production and our staging guy lived in Cleveland his whole life and just recently moved and every time someone brought up the RR Hall of Fame he would do nothing but trash talk it. He would talk about when they were planning it originally it was just a cash grab tourist stop and they didn't give shit about Rock n Roll at all. And this guy would never shut up about how great Cleveland was and he hated that place with a passion.
YES! I totally agree! Every time I see a new inductee list I shake my head in disbelief. "Their not R&R!!!" I yell. I gave up on the RaRHoF a long time ago. They're a parody of rock 🎸
I don’t know why she has made it in for sure, but her songwriting and pop/rock charting has been influential to a number of rockers, notably “Jolene” by White Stripes. But the Monkees should be in, I agree.
Damn Michael I agree with you. Rapp is not Rock and Roll. I am not a Rapp nor HipHop fan, but I recognize excellence. But that type of ‘’music’’ (to me it’s mostly rhythmatic speech) is as much rock as Benny Goodman’s Swing is. I don’t knock it and if it should be recognized it should be in a hiphop Hall of Fame. Dolly is great, but not she’s not a Rocker either. I don’t think she’d disagree.
I agree with you Robert! There are some fine Rap artists, and I am a Benny Goodman fan as well! Musically they are wonderful, but Rock & Roll they are NOT! Great points here, thanx!❤️👌🤔
Thanks for calling out the bogus so-called RRHOF. I'm a Foreigner diehard and they're just one of many bands who deserve to be inducted if the organization was legit....but it isn't. Many of my fellow Foreigner fans have been calling for them to be inducted for a long time but I've gotten to the point where I don't really care because the vast majority of rock fans know the RRHOF is a joke.
You know Honda, I’ve brought out before that Jann has been quoted as telling Foreighner that they would NEVER be inducted! Sphincter-Boy Strikes again!❤️👌😉
Great commentary. I've been arguing the same point. There are so many "artists" being nominated and inducted into the RNR HOF who definitely have no place in it. Rap and hip hop are not rock n roll. Neither is country. I respect Dolly Parton for her contribution to music, but the respectable thing for her to do is to say "thank you, but no thank you. I'm not rock and roll. I'm country." That would surely shake up that phony bureaucracy.
Nothing but respect for Dolly Parton. Great songwriter, singer, and actress/personality. However, her genre is not rock n roll. It's just a fact. You wouldn't expect to find Lasagna at a Chinese restaurant. It may be delicious, but it's not Chinese food. Dolly Parton, as great as she is, is not a rock n roll artist.
Ah, but gentlemen, isn't it pretty rock and roll to record or perform live in concert covers of Collective Soul's "Shine" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"? Because Parton did both. 😉
I agree 100%. I think it was Jann who said that, like Rap, Rock and Roll was about rebellion. No. Rock and Roll was about music. Just because it riled up all the old stuffed shirt, racists aholes, at the time, didn't mean it was anything but good, exciting, high-energy music. I think Jann is confused by posturing.
Rebellion for just rebellion’s sake isn’t rebellion, it’s a knee-jerk reaction at best, d! Question authority, yes! But come up with something to replace that authority! How? Do it like we did back in the day! Burning down what you don’t understand is a mob-mentality, and provides no answers! Oops, D got me thinking…..❤️🤔
I have no problems with variety. Many “pop” and other genres have people with rock and roll attitude such as the aforementioned Chick Corea and even more so his mentor Miles (talk about rock and roll). My problem is the chronology. People getting in who weren’t a glint in the eyes of their parents when acts that aren’t in were defining the art of rock and pop musics shouldn’t be happening. But Dolly and Public Enemy are “rock” in their own way.
As a massive dance music fanatic who also loves rock, I agree with you fully. It would be horrifying to have a dance act admitted, which doesn't seem far off for them. You deserve a place to honour your music and community, and we should start our own if we want to honour our genre and culture.
Amen, Beta Sequence! I love many arts! Film, Dance, Painting, Music, Pop Music, ROCK MUSIC!!! But they are multi disciplines! I’m also a martial artist, and wouldn’t want Bruce Lee posthumously nominated for the award either!👌😉
Everything you've said is right on!! Everything!! As much as I love Dolly Parton she's not Rock and she knows it! I've watched innumerable rock videos and in the comments many lament that so-and-so should be in the RARHOF ("it's so unfair" etc), I always reply "nope, the rarhof is a gatekeeping joke and these days it's almost an insult to be in" ....
Completely agree! I've never been to the RHOF, nor shall I ever. "Yawn" has ruined the very idea of rock and who should be inducted. To add to the list of performers who should be, POCO! The "godfathers" of Southern Rock. They should have been inducted before the Eagles.
Speaking of Herman’s Hermits, they did do a few songs that actually verged on rock ‘n’ roll like dandy that was written by Ray Davies, a little bit better, and a must to avoid
Ya the rock and roll hall of Fame is totally BS in my opinion it's crazy the guess who have never been in the rock and roll hall of Fame dispite being ellegabe since 91 first recorded In 1965 I agree 👍
I do agree with most of whats said such as rap and hip-hop or dance or most chart music not being included but I think country should if you consider artists like Poco Johnny cash Steve Earle the eagles and many others who successfully blend rock and country even 50s and 60s acts like Rick Nelson Marty Robbins Roy Orbison and even Elvis j Had many country hits along with their pop and rock and roll songs country and rock have always been closely aligned and they seem to merge very smoothly there's even a genre called country rock and at its heart good country music is about rebellion so I think. These two genres have a lot in common
The Musicians Hall of Fame is a much better situation. They cover the different genres, good interviews. Not so "glitzy" and corporately tied-in as that place in Cleveland. They have a good museum, good website, and a good RU-vid channel, interviews conducted by Joe Chambers over the years. It's more substantive about American music history. Not a superficial sideshow like Wenner's schmooze-fest bs. Wouldn't surprise me if the "RnR Hall of Fame" puts Milli Vanilli or the Banana Splits in next, if enough grease-palming takes place. It's a Cartoon nowadays...
Thanks for the great vid as per usual, Mike. And thanks for keeping "Gollum Mike" contained so that he doesn't destroy the world (as we saw in the beginning of the video).
WHOligans UNITE!!! It appears we have to somehow figure out a way to get Michael to talk about The Who. This is blasphemy to not do a video about the greatest live rock band of all time. Townshend, Daltery, Entwistle, Moon. Aside from blowing any band off the stage in their prime, we got Townshend the brain. Rock operas. Concept albums. Thr windmiller. Guitar smashing. Entwistle the Ox with his blazing bass licks. Daltery roaring, channeling Pete's visions like no other, whipping and swinging the mic over the heads of the crowd. And Moon the loon, the orchestral drummer extraordinaire. Unrivaled off stage antics.... and most importantly, the music. Tommy, Who's Next, Quadrophenia, Live at Leeds!!! Come on Mike! You gotta cover them. Please.
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine haha! Hell yeah, Michael! That sounds good the way you said it. Thanks brother! It's all in good fun. But I love The Who. Make it a good one Mike! 👍 🤘✌️
Hey Michael - another great topic!! Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. The description is in the title!! Whether it's Rock, Rock & Roll, Pop Rock, Power Pop, Blues Rock, Heavy Rock, Heavy Metal, Psych Rock or even straight Pop from the sixties & seventies. It all contains that beat. No disrespect to Dolly Parton because she is a great artist with a long career - but she does not fit these fields in any way. The people that have run the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame over the last 40 years are a bunch of clowns.
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine The band is Lonerider... I did say that, correct? Lonestar just popped into my head. I'm a little fogged in if you know what I mean.
Whenever I hear anything about the R & R Hall of Fame I think of the Stones' song "Respectable." To me a hall of fame is antithetical to what rock is all about.
Some of the rock fans of attacked ABBA for getting into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame but I brought up the fact that many of their songs could be considered glam rock especially their early stuff like “Waterloo,” “Mamma Mia,” and there’s some heavy rockers on the early albums like “hey hey Helen”, “watch out”, and “so long” which easily could go up against anything by Slade or T Rex!
I have no trouble with ABBA as a contender! They fall under Pop/Rock very easily for me, Michael! And they produced some of Pop/Rock’s true masterpieces! Thanx, Bro!❤️🤔👌
Just visited the RRHOF for the last time. They had more Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift stuff on display than legendary bands like Led Zep, Yes, Sabbath, Rundgren, and other classic artists. What a joke.
I'm from South Jersey and the only time I visited it was in '99 when my wife and I stopped while on our way to to Cadott,WI for Rock-Fest '99. What really caught my attention and ire was them having a large display of Alice Cooper outfits(not sure if they had any props) but Alice hadn't been inducted yet. Coop should've been a first-ballot HOFer since he was literally the Godfather of Shock Rock. I wouldn't even bother stopping to visit if we made that trip again. Rock-Fest was great as they had a stellar lineup that year!
Yeah you’re right about the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame I think it’s funny you even called the rock ‘n’ roll hall of shame I liked Dolly Parton and I think she belongs and I think maybe she is in the country music Hall of Fame but just the same some people just don’t belong in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame and you’re so right about that thank you for your videos have a great day🎸🎼 by the way you’re a very good guitarist🎸💖😎👍🏼
Great take on the RandRhof. I have always thought Jann weiner is a hack. He keeps a stranglehold on that org. Jethro Tull should be in but, weiner has said Tull will never be in. Why? Who knows. Steve Miller really gave them hell a few years ago.
Ted Nugent is boycotted because he doesn’t fit Wennet’s political prejudices. But Parton gets nominated as a rocker? RS reached zero credibility for its cultural as well as political relevance a long time ago.
As much as I love and respect Dolly, she's right about not belonging in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But society today where popularity and making massive amounts of money has become all important talent takes a back seat. If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was really relevant today maybe I would have heard of the rap artists they award while ignoring good rock musicians I do know about. Anyway, give Dolly a Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work and let the R&R Hall of Fame fade away. The great rock we love will be around forever while organizations like the Hall of Fame and Rolling Stone have become the Muzak of their former glory.
Totally agree. I used to subscribe to Rolling Stone for the music but too much political garbage. Last summer I went to the RHOF. There is a lot of very cool stuff to see but I couldn’t believe how absurdly large that the Rap/hip hop section was. It was the only section that intentionally skipped. It doesn’t belong there, taking spots of legitimate rock & roll. Makes me sad so many bands been excluded that deserve to be there. Foreigner, Styx, Guess Who ….
Your totally right .rock and roll of jokers .they should make different shows for those people. I can't stand it when they do rap or hip hop. Just like mtv awards I haven't. Watched it since 1990 last time they covered rock poison was last act
lol hall of shame! if they called it the museum of popular music i would have no problem. i worked in the homes of a few of the board members and executives of the hall of shame and when i would talk to them about why things are the way they are at the hall of shame and i got answers like. "we are redefining rock and roll" or "we are a money board" it takes a large donation to get on the board. its not about rock and roll and its run by a bunch of wannabes who are exploiting musicians and the general public. i mean suit and ties at a rock event?
One of the greatest debut albums in rock history and they pretty much have no shot of ever being inducted....ridiculous. Foreigner's Mick Jones used to be a good friend of Jann Wenner's until Mick and their manager walked into the HOF's offices to ask why they hadn't been inducted. It turned into a heated discussion and it ended with Mick being told Foreigner would never be inducted under their watch. It's all political BS.
Really enjoyed Rolling Stone mag in the 70's. Subscribed to it about 3 years ago and it sucks now. So many ads and crap not associated with Rock or music, cancelled after two issues.
Yeah, someone bought me a subscription about 20 years ago, and I never cracked an issue! I just let it expire, after the year! It was bought by someone who thought I’d like it, because they thought it was a Rock Magazine!❤️ Thanx, Mark!
Hi Michael, I couldn't agree more. Although rock n roll is a big tent under which many many sub genres fit. Country music, Hip Hop and rap don't meet the definition of rocks sub genres. Although I like all 3 there are too many deserving rock bands!
I love the best in just about every genre there is in art, but the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame buy it’s very name, sorta kinda makes my whole point, Royce! I wouldn’t expect Metallica to be nominated for The Blues Hall of Fame! Thanx, Royce!
I feel like the one time R&RHOF did do right was in 2012 they inducted the rest of The Crickets, The Blue Caps, The Comets, etc. When the original lead singers were inducted alone in the first two years of the HOFs existance.
Couldn’t agree more Michael! Leave the rock and roll hall of fame to the greats of rock and rock and roll, and just leave it that! Funny enough, even Dolly herself’s taken issue with being nominated and gone as far to decline the nomination and say up front that she doesn’t want to be inducted, because in her opinion, it would be disrespectful to accept an award for a genre that she doesn’t represent and knows she isn’t apart of. So as far as I’m concerned, this is just another reason to love Dolly and why I’ll always love her as an artist, but with this decision from the hall of fame, I can’t say that I feel the same way about them.
I love Dolly! She’s an ACE songwriter and terrific singer, and a beautiful soul! And even though I feel she’s misplaced in TR&RHoF, she has more Rock & Roll Balls than most, Stephen!❤️👌😉👍
George Martin (and Brian Epstein) WERE inducted, in the non-performer category. But both were inducted before Ringo. Jann Wenner had originally promised, after John Lennon’s 1994 induction, that Paul would be on the ballot for 1995, George for 1996, and Ringo in 1997. Ha. Paul finally got his multitude of A-list friends to start calling Wenner and the HoF over and over until they relented, and gave him the Sideman Award in 2015 for his drumming. Hey, it still counts as an induction.
They need to rename it "The Music Hall of Fame" - as to Rolling Stone; it's just a neo-geo piece of crap now and political to the extreme. A good solid take on this topic, Michael. 👍
Thanx Rachel! Great live one today with Michael btw! I think Stumpy Rocks! I love his knowledge base! He knows what he’s talking about! Everybody check out Rachel’s Ghost!
Dolly Parton declined the presidential medal of freedom twice, and in my book , given her charity work and overall awesomeness (look it up), in my opinion she was probably trying to be nice about saying that she really don't give two shits. I really don't get why anyone including the artists takes this award seriously. I was shocked when Rush did, and a bit at Neil's speech. However Alex made it all righty with the blah, blah blah thing which is exactly what it deserves. We as music enthusiasts should not take it seriously.
rush fans were really into it i doubt they worry about awards and alex said there were acts in it he didn't agree. they do seem to have really cared about the canadian awards. but they are canadian and nice so wouldn't likely have said it was all bullshit
Of all the omissions, I can't think of anyone who deserves to be in the Hall than Cliff Richard and also The Shadows, with Hank Marvin influencing nearly every UK lead guitarist and setting the template for the four-piece band (lead, rhythm, bass, drums). As for Cliff, he is a singular artist, recently placing a Top Five UK Album in the eighth decade. Despite some BORING MOR music from the mid-1960s until the mid-1970s, Richard has been recording great rock/pop music that pretty much everyone outside of the United States was/is aware of.
I mean, there were rap acts who consciously mixed rock elements into their work (Run-DMC, Public Enemy), but that's generally ancillary to their genre, rather than a major part of their identity. (Public Enemy, at least, has some cred in that they helped define a genre of rock from the outside. And certainly their attitude owes a lot to punk, but that's another matter.)
Dolly Parton should not be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. She's talented and a fine singer ,A Country music icon for sure yes, but not Rock n Roll. Likewise rap artists should not be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with rap music sounding nothing like Rock n Roll music. It's becoming ridiculous when artists get put into the category of Rock, when their music is notl
Well said I agree with you rock and roll has had too much Klingons wannabes and posers for too long dolly is a Class Act she'll never fall prey to the ass clowns I like your channel brother
They have not even inducted the late Johnny Winter into the rock n roll hall of fame but they want to put Dolly Psrton into it?! SMH. i bought Rolling Stone til the late 80s. That magazine sucks now.
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine yeah - makes me mad and i was not even slive to see JW back in the day and even I could tell he was a brilliant musician. Ug! Hey i just found this channel and will watch more back episodes mow and look foreward to new episodes as i subscribed. I like how you explain things so that fans from any age can get perspective - thank you! ☮️💟☮️
The Rolling Stone Mag was a joke!!!! When Zeppelin was killing it in the late 60’s & all of the 70’s they did not understand what it was? It was Rock & Roll !!!!
RS magazine has always tried to make everything fit into their narrow corridors of what is good and what is cool often slagging some great bands that were creative and original for their times only to fawn over them decades later. The RRHoF is more political than movie awards now and certain glaring omissions have become so obvious it tends to annoy more than please .
Well, Dolly did do a cover of 'Stairway To Heaven', does that give her any street cred? And I am certain Dolly is just as flabbergasted as a tomato being mistaken as a vegetable.
I recently happened upon a tape online from back in the day. It was Wenner talking with the great Mike Bloomfield. I never heard a more clueless interviewer, sucking up to the artist and desperately trying the absolutely futile, pretending to be hip. And this was during RS’s heyday.
Man you speak the truth! I've always thought that the rock an roll hof was a crock. I never watched one but I have seen some of the bands that were enshrined and I couldn't believe it and some very good bands that are not. Dolly Parton is very talented but that's not R&R.
Rock and Roll HOF is a joke. If the likes of Jay Z and LL Cool J can be in the Hall of Fame, then I guess Dolly Parton can as well. Like I said, it’s a joke. Not in the HOF: Bad Company / Free Badfinger Blood, Sweat and Tears Blue Oyster Cult Boston Bryan Adams BTO / The Guess Who Dave Matthews Band Eddie Money ELP Foreigner Grand Funk Railroad Ian Hunter / Mott the Hoople Jethro Tull Jimmy Buffett Joe Cocker Joe Walsh (as a solo artist) John Mayall Judas Priest Kansas Little Feat Meat Loaf Pat Benatar Peter Frampton / Humble Pie Phil Collins (as solo artist) Procol Harum REO Speedwagon Scorpions The Smiths Soundgarden Sting Styx Thin Lizzy
The rock and roll hall of fame presumably started with good intentions, can't say I know thier history, but quickly became a part of promotional arm of interested parties. First time i heard of it was Stones induction and even as 15 year old ( when your favourite bands can do no wrong) it was embarrassing to watch,oh and guess what they were gearing up for huge tour and new album. The only real positives were recognising Little Richard and other architects of RnR ,but does anyone really care about Hall of fame? Does anyone think " oh no my favourite band hasn't been inducted for shifting units and pumping out bland crap"
