The Role of In-laws in Intimacy (Priority or Competition?) 

I just recall that when my husband and i were about getting married, he had to reduce the way he spoke with his mom. Lost his dad at a tender age and he is the 1st son When I got to initially start dating my husband he used to speak to his mom every day and sometimes twice a day. The moment he started thinking marriage he started cutting down on the calls and informations he Gave her. It got to a point i had to be reminding him to check up on her at least once a week sometimes he wouldn't sef. When i asked him why the change, he said "i want you to feel safe and know that from now henceforth you come first before any other person and wouldn't want to wait until marriage before he reduces the way he Calls then they will say i made him stop calling." I so much appreciate that decision till date

I talk to my mom everyday (almost) for 30min-1h. She is a widow and leaving alone. I do it because I need to talk and my friends can’t listen to me everyday. I also talk to her on my way home after work or during lunch break. I still find time to talk to my husband during his own break time. He asks me often if I have called my mom. During week-end my mom is the one that tells me go and take care of your husband so our calls are not more than 5 min. Just to be sure everything is fine with her. I guess it how you do it. Don’t do it in a way that will make your partner feel he/she is not your priority. Thank you for this interesting topic.
