as dodgy and insane as this already is. something feels so off about the events. I do not trust Todd…at all. it’s bad enough she left year 9 to marry him at what? 14, 15 years old…but then his instinct is to cut off a support group of hers and say she is dead?! cutting off book group i could see as a valid response, and safety concern to what’s happening, but that lie is just kind of extremely unnerving. wild.

@@RespecttheDeadPodcast YES!! when you were highlighting dodgy ass Todd i was right there with you. cause absolutely not….Todd was already giving predator vibes, he stops her education, traps her in a relationship, knows that she is living with serious mental health conditions (that have also presumably been escalating), then he leaves her home alone? for days to weeks at a time?! constantly?! THEN…then…sh*t HITS the fan, his wife has a su*cide attempt (terrifying, shocking, world shattering), Todd should be overwhelmingly, unbelievably, relieved and so grateful, that his wife whom he cares for, whom he loves, whom he has a family with, survived. She survived!! And Todd’s reaction to his wife surviving attempted su*cide is to tell the world she’s dead?! Tell HER world that she is dead. after that was a horrifyingly real possibility mere moments ago?! that was Todd’s FIRST thought?! To tell the world that his wife who almost died, is dead. nope. not having it. that’s seriously messed up at best. it’s deranged and despicable behaviour any other way. in my opinion at least.

The Nancy Brophy case that Hoots mentioned at the end is actually so awful. Her husband, Dan Brophy, was an incredibly beloved chef and culinary school instructor in Portland, Oregon, and Nancy killed him for insurance money in order to keep up with her major spending problem. She took the stand in her own defense at the trial, and her behavior just made her look like a heartless lunatic.

Okay but as a fellow author (well wannabe I'm still working through my MFA program so I only got a single poem published ever) I do kinda respect going all the way to fake your death so people buy your books. Personally I don't think that would work as well with selling queer fantasy fiction, so I guess I gotta plan something else out to get people to buy my future books

I'm not Caelan, but my absolute favorite recipe for banana bread is from the Food Charlatan! It's very rich and amazing with chocolate chips, and the recipe gives some good advice on modifying it for more banana or less banana.

Fellow author of several genres, including romance and--while this isn't the biggest issue here, by far-- I just need to point out that if the book doesn't have a happily ever after or at least a happily for now ending, it's not a romance. That's a conviction thats pretty essential to the genre. It'd be like claiming the Handmaid's Tale as historical fiction. Yeah, it contains a lot of historical elements but since it takes place in the future, it is, by definition, not that.

If i have one criticism it's the audio balancing between the on camera vs intermissions, theme and ending that contain the theme is so huge, that im having to adjust my volume as to not blow out my own ears. Other than that, pretty good stuff as always.
