Hope Carl gave you permision to wear the daytona, I would not like someone wearing my watch for 2 months if I take it for service. Also, no date is better
I hate it when luxury brands steal from other brands. Those sub dials are more or less an exact copy of the Daytona! AP should be able to come up with something by themselves. I expect stealing from brands like Invicta, but not from AP!
STOP WITH THE CRAP AND ANSWER YOUR FANS. WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA WHERE IS ANNA
A date window at the 4:30 position, no matter how well executed, will never appear as anything more than an afterthought to me. Would vastly prefer a pointer date on most styles and wish we saw these more frequently.
Regarding Furlan Marii: "Andrea Furlan is a Swiss designer who graduated from the elite ECAL (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne) and went on to work for different brands such as Chopard, Hublot, Sarcar and HD3. He is perhaps most famous for having worked on designing Dominique Renaud’s DR01, a watch so baffling that only Jack Forster, Suzanne Wong and let’s hope Dominique Renaud understand it." You are so accomplished and you come up with a copy of Patek with $20 movement inside. Hard pass!
Prefer the chrono without a date, but don't mind too much since it looks so good. More important to me is that the ap chrono has no displayback, low water resistance and low power reserve. Are you sure it's platinum by the way? I can only see a WG ice blue chrono on the website.
Need a date! From a design perspective, get it, it throws things off normally. But any excuse to not pull my phone out to reference something my watch can, well...
This is a huge one for me. Our society needs to get away from whipping out the phones in the presence of family, friends and clients/partners. This has been somewhat of a forbidden practice in some of my previous workplaces.
Tbh i never really got that date vs design thing as i like functionality as well. Until I saw the patek calantrava. and then further on the nomos Ludwig. Now I think that small seconds watch designs may look cleaner or more proportioned without date/day
Frickin vintage pieces! I have a bit of a weakness for Soviet era pieces from the GDP and Russia. Yeah, you can can do the wind to 2 & back to 10 & repeat thing, but still... And frickin' day/date complicatons on vintage pieces?...and the more time consuming the day or date change is, the smaller and more difficult to operate the crown seems to be! I have this picture in my head of 2 watchmakers hanging out on a Friday arvo cracking each other up by creatingnew and novel ways to make a timepiece difficult to interact with!
Deeeeeefinitely reading that you way you wanted to. I'm the one that encouraged/greenlit unstrategic videos. Not only do I not dig Anna, I've never even been critical of anna publicly. Thats private business, I can only criticize myself to the public.
Date window is a must. One of the most useful functions on the daily. Hope Carl ok’ed you wearing his in-service watch while he waited for it’s return! Does that happen at other repair shops?
Christian your teeth look great, you've got a great smile You keep getting sexier & sexier! Loving your glasses Don't think you have a cocaine problem Disappointed in the cap, I'm a Red Sox fan.
Regarding a date window on watches: If I only had one daily watch, i would want a date on it. If I have multiple daily watches, like I do, I don’t require a date. At least one of them needs a date tho.
Got a nodate sub a few months ago, do find myself looking for the date and remembering it doesn’t have one. Dates are actually so useful but I didn’t appreciate it!
I love my Blancpain Leman Flyback, it's an absolute sleeper and I would happily have it over a Daytona every day of the week. Yeah, yeah, resale value of the Rolex is way better, but how many people do you see in your day to day Life wearing a BP vs a Rolex. Plus, the dial and finishing on the BP is WAY nicer than a $15,000 or $20,000 Daytona. Thanks to the RGM aftermarket glass case back I can appreciate that fine finishing and solid gold rotor. Great content guys! Thank you!
Christian, the Chopard you introduced in the video is stunning; especially, in the red & blue dials. I went to Chopard's website to research the Chopard Alpine Eagle and only found the blue & gray dials. Could you share the reference numbers for the Alpine Eagle watches that you show in this video. Greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
I want to share a tidbit of knowledge about the AP Royal Oak as regards to advancing the date. I was stunned and flabbergasted to find out that despite AP being a member of the Swiss Triad & the prestige that comes with it, the only way to advance the date is to wind the watch past midnight! At this price and with AP's pedigree you would expect to pull out the crown to a second position and advance the date forward (and backwards on some high end brands). So AP having a date function on the Royal Oak only reminds me that it is a lot of work to set the date if you need to advance it more then one day.
Sad to see hi end watch company just copy from one another for their design ,if it is a cheap brand no one will complaint. Therefore ,these companies are cutting corners in R&D ,yet still charge a lot on their customers.Think customer be warn.
I like dates on watches but I prefer them either at 3:00 or 6:00. Not the biggest fan of them at the 4:00 position but the date wheel color matching the dial and with the chronograph sundials sort of masking it does help. However, looking at the AP Code 11:59 time only and the 4:00 date window is a travesty. It sticks out in such an odd way that it should just be removed. That by itself would significantly increase my appreciation for the 11:59 model line.
I will always prefer a date. I can do without a day function because I prefer the look without it even though I love having the function of it. But date is always a must for my top watch.
To me personally that date window on the royal oak ruined the whole thing. Totally unnecessary and worse either at 4:30 or blocking one of the registers, I really dislike that. At least they matched the bacground color to the dial.
I think the date is to much! For a simple dial is great but for a more complex multiple incorporate complication dial is to much - even in a Sub - no date is better at least for me.
I actually use the date on my watches, but it doesn’t matter than much because we have our phones. It’s no Cyclopes lens but it blends very well with that AP
Date window is super important, specially for someone who plans ahead and depends on their calendar as a daily tool. I normally need the date and a seconds hand on a watch. If it's missing one of those two it's normally no longer an option for me.
