I've seen this SO many times and it's only just dawned on me the joke that Jim is moaning about Dave being under the thumb and then jumps up when he hears Barbara come in. I've just never put the two together!

Where I grew up Leeds back in the day, I rarely saw a maternal mother. The mums let us do what we wanted and barely cared and the dads were just brutal and always putting you down, which was lowkey funny and savage

I grew up in Leeds too. This is fairly accurate lol. It was almost a sin for a dad to show any form of affection too, whether that be to wife or children. Stroking a pet dog was the max affection that was seemingly allowed from a dad.

Absolutely fantastic show that. Gutted it only went for 2 series. There was lots more potential for story lines but alas, we only ended up with 2 but 2 incredible series nevertheless.

You’re laugh gets better and better. Not seen this episode in years, but really enjoying your reactions to it. I’d once again recommend Early Doors to. Written by the guy who play Dave. The same sort of pace and humour but set in a typical (for the time) northern pub. Another show to look out for is Ricky and Ralf’s Northern adventure. The actors who played Jim and Our Anthony go on a tour of northern England. Really funny with great impressions of the actor Brian Blessed. Keep the reactions coming.

These are the best scenes to watch good commedy rushes when babs comes in and then the song swing arse then mention van dick also farts and helps paper the thing is why still call him baby david he is about 8mts or more 😮
