The best part about these movies tanking is that I didn't have to do anything to make them fail. It took no effort on my part.

Between Disney and Warner, they spent almost 1 billion on The Marvels, The Flash, and Aquaman 2 ALONE. Incredible.

As soon as James Gunn took charge he ended the DCEU by announcing all the actors would not be reprising their roles so its no surpise that all these films after had no interest.

We know what would happen to Zatanna. We saw the tacky, crappy "street level fashions" they used for Black Canary and Huntress in Birds of Prey.

It’s likely Zatanna would have been played by Dylan Mulvaney or a facsimile of him, so I’m relieved to not see that.

It's almost as if James Gunn announcing that all of these movies didn't matter before they came out was a bad idea 😂

I find it funny that James Gunn got into hot water with Marvel after saying he has children in cages in his home, and then in the last Guardians movie he put children in cages into the movie.

I definitely agree that alot of people don't know who Zatanna is, and the movie probably would be poorly received. But I've heard even to this day how much people want a sequel to Keanu Reeves "Constantine." So if they were able to do a sequel to Constantine, they could possibly add in other 'mystic arts' characters from DC like Zatanna to it.

Ezra Miller would be an excellent casting for the Creeper movie.

Like nine of us were going to go see Aquaman 2 on Christmas night. Then, we decided that it would mostly likely suck and we watched Gremlins on DVD. So, in our case, it lost out to a movie that is nearly 40 years old.

The worst part is WW84 was the last movie I got to see before losing my sight! At least Gal was hot in it... I guess.

I didn't check my watch, but I walked out about 45 minutes in to Aqua-Man 2. I think the 3rd heart-to-heart conversation between him and his uncharismatic dad was the final nail.

Posted this on another thread. No spoilers. Saw Aquaman Lost Kingdom last night. There were a couple parts that made me groan (I’ll get to them) but overall I thought it was a fun movie, and worth my $15. Good popcorn movie. Never understand why fans care about the box office returns. Only sheep follow the herd. Whatever. Anyway, movie is a mash-up of a few storylines from the comics, which was good. They even had some “wink wink” deep-cut references to older, infamous Aquaman comics; when they introduce Topo the octopus, one of the characters also mentions, “..and Topo plays a lot of instruments, too!” As longtime fans know there are a couple scenes in the comics from the 50s and 60s were Topo is playing multiple instruments at a party. Nice nod to older fans. They also had other “tip of the hat” moments to the longtime fans, like featuring Storm the seahorse. None of these inside-jokes distracted from the movie, and you didn’t need to know them to enjoy the movie. One of the main storylines from a comic book miniseries in the 1980s called the “Atlantic Chronicles.” This was a prehistory of Aquaman universe and a really good mini series. They use that story which is cool. A good bit of the movie is Aquaman with his brother Orm, having to team up to save the world. A little bit of a buddy comedy but works mainly because the actor playing Orm is good. Now the negative. First, the bad guy is trying to exacerbate existing global-warming to destroy the Earth. It’s mentioned in the beginning strongly, and then a few other times of the movie. Groan. Second, there’s a seemingly innocent scene where Aquaman has his brother Orm try eating a roach, “because they’re really good.” Orm tries to Roach and of course loves it. (Thank you, Bill Gates). Third, and most important, Jason Momoa is terrible. Not only is he a bad actor in general - which comes across on the screen - his portrayal of Aquaman is idiotic, unheroic, silly, and uninspiring. He’s basically an immature-surfer-dude-muscle-head-bro. There’s no way anyone would follow this person to McDonald’s, much less into Battle. If you’re familiar with Pat McAfee, the sports commentator, Aquaman is the Pat McAfee of the super-hero world. McAfee has defined the sports-bro. Just a party boy, dull, meathead. Also, Aquaman is a coward. When they’re attacked of various insect monsters, instead of fighting, Aquaman screams like a little child and yells, “ahhh! run!!” Isn’t that funny? Big strong hero afraid? Groan. Along with what Marvel Universe did to the Thor character, Aquaman is “Home Improvement” of DC superheroes; Neutered, man-child beta-male. Finally, Jason Momoa never has any true lines of dialogue. He seems to only have one liners, and little quips that are funny. I give this movie 3/5. Replace Momoa with a character that has, at least some charisma, and it’s a solid 4/5 stars. Favorite DC movie aside from the first wonder woman movie.

Notice that the stuff that got Snyder famous were zombie movies, the Watchmen adaptation, Sucker Punch. Stuff that's bleak and violent. DC characters should be hopeful, obnoxiously optimistic, and steadfast in belief in the greater good. Snyder was the exact opposite of what the DCEU needed. I know you don't like manga, but All Might in My Hero Academia shows that a Superman type character can be done today and be incredibly popular.

*Captain Marvel 2; Fury of the Gods* (that's right; *Captain Marvel* ) was good, but they spent waaaaay too much on totally unnecessary CGI. And he has enough characters to have his own corner of the DCU without any interaction with any other characters. They should keep him in that manner. Yes, Keaton was the only draw in *The Flash.* He's the only reason I saw it. 🦇 🦇 🦇

I think you can go see Aquaman 2 if you did what I did: Search ahead for showtimes and screen locations of other movies. Buy a ticket(s) for a movie that deserves support and starts around the same time. Then go to the Aquaman 2 theater. I bought a ticket for Godzilla Minus One, which started about 15 minutes before Aquaman. Then I headed for the Aquaman screen.

I couldn't believe Chris Nolan called Snyder a visionary, or something like that. On another note, introduce Zatanna in Constantine 2.

Mate, Aquaman 2 made less than 30 million dollars, holly shit!!! Honestly they did this to themselves Black Adam didn’t even get a China release and if it had it would have broken even and some. Henry Cavill back as Superman the buzz was there, then Gunn nepotistic Gunn came in a burned everything to the ground. I had no problem with a hard reboot but the fact Gunn is keeping his projects, his actors fired everyone else was it for me. I haven’t supported a single DC movie this year with my money and I won’t be while DC is under WBD and Gunn. I honestly hope people enjoy the Gunverse and it gives you everything you want. Amber heard is not the only reason this movie crashed, like I say Gunns actions have turned lots of DC fans off as well. I will now put all my efforts into supporting Amazon with WH40K, now it’s signed sealed and official that Cavill is the executive producer and he has his writers. Great news as a WH40K fan and can’t wait to see that universe brought to life!!!👍 I’m going to ask the Question, on Jan 2nd we get the Epstine list, what happens if James Gunn is on the official list?! Aquaman (1) was the last DC movie I watched, enjoyed it as a spectacle on the big screen, but that was about it. I don't have any faith in DC or Marvel making any movies worth watching anymore.

As an 80s baby growing up attached to comics from age 3......we have always wanted our heroes on the big screen but not like that. It's like my little sister took Marvel and DC and turned it all into something only SHE would like. Scooped out the SOUL and uses the husk to push their bullcrap.

Zack Snyder always wants to do dark and gloomy. So he's a good fit for Batman, but a lousy fit for Superman. We need writers with a much bigger emotional range, who can handle all of the characters well. As for Michael Keaton, why would I go to a movie to see him for 20 minutes when I can watch the first two Batman movies on DVD at home for free? Anyway, I hope you will feel better soon.

Just a heads-up about the Shazam sequel: Rachel Zegler is in it. I wasn't planning to watch it whether she was in it or not, because I thought the first one sucked. Plus, I've just stopped watching Marvel and DC movies. Out of the last 20 Marvel and DC movies that have been released, I've only seen Wonder Woman 1984, because I liked Gal Gadot so much. And it ended up probably being the worst superhero movie in the past 20 years.

I cant separate the art from the artist anymore so i wont be watching any new dc stuff but tbh i haven't watched anything from disney or dc at all in years. The quality kept decreasing imo and the sheet quantity made it difficult to keep up.

I'm skeptic about Gunn, he's good with the characters nobody cares about but Superman i don't know. And you know all those characters that were announced to appear like Metamorpho and Guy Gardner are just gonna appear for some kind of joke scene and we'll never see them again. Nathan Fillion is a dead giveaway, he's never in Gunn's movies for more than five minutes and it's always a joke scene.

The thing is, Zack Snyder’s Justice League as an HBO Max DC Exclusive would’ve driven fans of his (Watchmen and Man of Steel) to sub to HBO Max. Released as S1/S2/S3 he could’ve adapted Injustice as a mature Elseworlds DC corner. Instead Hamada that other exec railroaded him to put out lame “Marvel-lite” cinematic flops.

James Gunn casted Dora The Explorer to play Hawkgirl🤦‍♂️. If you have to make the Thanagarians some kind of “ethnic”, make them Cuban. Because of Maria Canals, Hawkgirl and Thanagarians will always be Cuban to me, but she was a professional, she wasn’t a clown like later “latina” iterations which are so uncomfortable and insulting!

I think the reason Captain Marvel made $1 billion is because Disney bought a lot of their own tickets.

I watched Shazam Fury of the Gods with my kids. It was more kid friendly then the first one, but still had a lot of references that only adults would understand. Zachary Levi was the best part of the movie. Lucy Liu was TERRIBLE, most of her lines she looked like she was reading cue cards.

Hilarious stuff, incredible they went for a tax credit with Batgirl/woman (already forgotten) but still vomited out the Flash, Bluebagel and Aquaman for a failed dead series these also could have been better served cancelling and pocketing the tax credit.

I am rather skeptical of Gunn's DC. Just going by what he has said, regardless of his track record. He's got s Superman Movie starring the rest of DC's characters and planning a BATMAN movie that will have Damian Wayne instead of Every actual Robin. Damian Wayne shouldn't even exist. Gunn has people like Tom King in his writer's room. This is even worse. I don't feel great about any of this. It feels like Gunn's DC is gonna be DOA. We'll see.

Shazam Fury of the Gods was very entertaining. I expected to hate it, but yeah, the cast is great. Fun watch, I even bought it.

Actually, this movie was fine. There was lots of underwater spectacles and creatures, a decent amount of action, and Amber Heard was hot, and she displayed maternal instincts. I didn't feel that I totally wasted my time, and I certainly didn't waste my dollars, since I saw it on the waves. One thing I don't understand: where did Black Manta get enough money to buy a huge submarine ship and a whole army of latex-clad frogmen? Is he like a billionaire somewhere in the comics, and I missed it?

Aquaman 2 was a fun holiday action movie. Me and the kids loved both Aquaman 1 and 2, and neither films have woke shit. 1 was better and has awesome fights, but 2 is a brother reconciliation film and closes up the Aquaman franchise ok. James Wan would be great for Batman. Check out his movie Malignant it is a true Batman villain movie without the R rating restrictions. It's on Max.

I like James Gunn but I’m more interested in what he’d do for monster movies. I wish he’d been around for the travesty that was the most recent mummy movie. His Swamp Thing could be stellar. That said, I loved what he did with Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad He seems like he likes having fun and making fun movies that celebrate American-style individualism which at this point would be refreshing
