If anything, it’s nice to know so many people are interested in the return of this franchise. Even if this is fake, it’s getting Skylanders some much needed attention.
If Microsoft buys Activision then there will be a different head and brain controlling the company. Maybe that head believes in skylanders but honestly the toys to life thing can only come with the side in skylanders like amiibos. It has not place in modern gaming
I think the reason we all love boom is because he can always be smart and realistic about skylanders coming back and makes sure we aren’t falling for fake leaks or scams
I love how hilariously fake the rumor is after the slightest bit of deeper digging. A shame, yes, but the rumors need to be debunked before it gets too out of hand.
@@transientlattice unfortunately true. It seems another one of these “leaks” surfaces the first week of every new year. I think the golden rule of Skylanders weeks is that if they surface super early in the year, they’re fake.
The leak being fake is expected but I'm actually happy it tricked article writers to write about it b/c that does get noticed and gets people talking and any sign that shows the company we want a new game/remake is good to me :)
8:55 hearing that swap force is turning 10 this year is so sad because I remember coming back from toys r us with swap force and being extremely excited to play with the new skylanders
Something I noticed about it is that in the first slide, they use the L3 and R3 buttons to switch between the games. Those buttons are activated by pressing in on the sticks so that just stuck out to me
5:09 These are likely placeholders. Sometimes when developing a game the developers will pull assets from their previous games as a reference, but they will be changed for the final verison. So this port could be built off of Imaginators and a couple of older games.But this is just a theory, as Imaginators already bad a Switch port, and they could of grabbed the assets from there. Do I believe the leak? It's probably fake, but seeing how Crash and Spyro got remastered, and there is some interest in bringing Skylanders back, a remaster of some sort wouldn't be too crazy. It makes sense to port the 3 most popular games first.
plus you got activision being bought out by microsoft and because of that, microsoft's interest in the series could be a good sign that this remaster could come soon (although probably not this year sadly)

While we’re talking about Skylanders, I have an idea for a game mode for Skylanders. Not a game gimmick or anything, just a fun challenge, like Kaos mode or something. Basically, you need to choose the following - 1 core Skylander - 1 Giant Skylander - 2 Swap Force Skylanders - 1 Trap Master - 1 Supercharger and vehicle - 1 Imaginator or Sensi - And 1 magic item to use once per level It’s called Portal Wars Basically, you can only switch out between the Skylanders you have chosen. Each round/level, the challenge will get harder and harder, basically it’s going from Hard mode to Nightmare mode, it’s meant to be really tricky and tense. Each level/round will have an iconic boss from a previous Skylanders game and a wave of Enemies. So for example, Wolfgang from Trap Team, Mesmerelda from Swap Force, basically any boss from the Skylanders games you can imagine. And yes, that includes the 3DS bosses. Each Level/Round will also include 3 stages. Stage one will be fighting regular enemies that get stronger and stronger, stage two will be fighting dark versions of your Skylanders like in Spyros Adventure, and the final stage will be going against a boss, to get to each stage, you’ll need to use a Supercharger vehicle or do a Swap Zone based off the swappers you have. Now here’s when things get spicy. Every time a Skylander dies, not only can you not use that Skylander again for the rest of the challenge unless you beat the challenge or decide on to quit and start again, the death of that Skylander will duplicate the enemies strength. So please be careful! But don’t worry, you’ll be given companions to help boost up your strength, health, powers etc. Some of these companions will include Flynn, Cali, Hugo, Tessa, Buzz, Mags, Sharpfin, Avril, and basically beloved NPCs from the previous games. This mode is about strategy, knowing which Skylanders and Magic items are the best ones to use, and this is basically an in-between point of Hard mode and Nightmare mode, so the difficulty spike will be a lot more noticeable. The final level is fight Kaos going back and forth between his Spyros Adventure boss, Giants boss, Swap Force boss, Trap Team boss, Superchargers boss, and Imaginators boss, while being powered by the Darkness, who you will also have to fight during the boss. The NPCs will talk to you and there will be areas to explore to find health items or gold to spend to get more powers etc like a normal level, but this is basically about using your mind and strategically knowing what choices to make and what not to do. How does everyone think of this idea? It’s an early concept I have and this is why I have planned as of right now so things may get changed or added in, I’m not sure yet.

Better idea- Port the games and make all characters playable without a portal, but have it as a setting that you can disable. Rundown- You buy game digitally (since physical copies are going out of style slowly and no one will be looking for it in stores), open game into main menu and there's a setting like "Enable Legacy Mode" or something, which switches the game to needing a portal connected to work. In Legacy Mode all figures have an additional power that you can purchase from Persephone, and you can use figures from past games. Now you still can't use tree rex in SSA (to keep SSA as much SSA as possible) but you can use same tree rex in SF. Also there can be a listing for like a starter pack on Amazon or the company website with a portal, Spyro (S1), Tree Rex, Blast Zone, and Wash Buckler. You can use old portals on new ports and- you get the idea. I feel like this is a pretty solid idea, does need refining but for what it is- it ain't bad.
personally i think skylanders can come back this year in Crash Team Rumble, being a tfb game and knowing how much they love skylanders, it's not crazy to think some sort of skylanders representation could be in there :))
My guess -if it ever comes out- is a remake of the franchise following closely to the original but tweaking a lot of the mechanics. If the figures were ever introduced again, the scale might be smaller OR they go the card route (though that'd make way less money). Also the same or less IP's appearances.

The first thing that threw me off about the leak wasn’t the screenshots but that they used a series 2 image of Spyro as the image for choosing Spyro’s adventure

I did learn about this rumor from one certain Finnish game news and reviews website, I can't recall the name of it right now, but luckily they stated this is just a rumor. I almost had hope for the grand new future of Skylanders but I was also sussy at the time. But after finding out the rumor is just a random and untrustworthy reddit post, I guessed it's just a scam for views.
I had thought the Skylanders 2023 stuff was wishful thinking, didn't know there were "leaks". But yeah, '26 would be about the earliest I'd expect anything, personally. My hope would be an expanded version of SA and Giants... preferably in 4k, but that might be a little greedy
When person 3 was ported to steam, They could have selected the oringal version, Portable version (Which is more of an novel like game outside of the dugenons BUT also have an spilt timeline where you could play as the female character) or Fes version (Which only had one timeline, and not being able to controll your team actions BUT It has an epilog semester & it would have been super easy to enable the controll your team actions) So it is possible that Skylanders used the "non definated" version due to having an easier access to it.
Yooka-Laylee had white button prompts in the Nintendo Switch version, which were carryovers from the canceled Wii U version of the game. Oddly, Impossible Lair kept the white buttons instead of changing them to black. In Addition, Crash N.Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled also had white button prompts, but Spyro Reignited Trilogy had black button prompts.

I hate people that just invent these shitty leaks, Skylanders is a franchise that has been left in the dust and the biggest news that the community gets from it are shitty leaks trying to give people false hope.
Even though Skylanders may never return due to the death of the toys-to-life genre overall, I wouldn't mind if they could at the very least release a fully digital compilation of all the original games with all characters available, just like Disney Infinity or Starlink Battle For Atlas did
I dont know how i ended up here. And I want to be very clear that I do not have any information about this and would never jeopardize my job for something like this. I work at Acti-Blizz and all I'm saying is that our pitches and mockups are not low effort low quality images. They would absolutely never put early development mockups in a survey.
If the games for Skylanders eventually do return as Remasters it would be interesting to see if they would make a new title for the series if the Remasters sold well, especially since now that the fan base of the originals is grown up it would be interesting if the stories would be more fleshed out then their previous ones, and if Kaos would even be the Main Antagonist in it? Kinda happy to find out that the win version is sorta the definitive one. Almost done with my spyros collection as well. Unless you count magic items all I'm missing is empire of ice, wham shell and Dino rang
I like the idea, but a game with all games with better graphics is just too much to remake I think and they would probably do it like you say. Also it would take some time to think and add the feature with Skylanders being unlockable, because what if you have all of them unlocked. Can you use them in other safe file’s? Thats the hard part also what do you do with the old Skylanders lets say spyros adventure and giants are in a collection. Then of course you still have the one from the other game or maybe not, but I think they could. The other problem is if older skylanders will be available in the newer collection lets say, because they can be used in the game, but I think there is a way to fix those issues I think they could make you choose if you only want to use skylanders from that game or from the older ones too.

I think if a remaster releases in 2031 or 2026 like you said to me it would just be all 6 games as by then it would be the value pack deal and all toys arnt needed it’s just they are instantly available
If they make a new Skylanders game, it should be a hybrid of all the previous games. All levels should include the following; Elemental Gate Feat Of Strength Swap Zone Trappable Villain Traptanium Car Zone Sense Gong Aswell as other gimmicks for the hub; Heroic challenges Skaletone showdowns Fishing areas Hidden Levels like the rat kingdom from Imaginators They should also add some things in lore wise; Cali finally admitting her love to Flynn Buzz and Flynn becoming father and son Tuck and Gorm meeting Persehpone and Auric Maybe some other miscellaneous things too; Whiskers having chicks (This could be the basis for a level) As for the playable characters, they should definitely have guest stars like in Superchargers and Imaginators. Imagine playing as the heavy weapons guy or the spy in Skylanders. Epic
Sky landers is the reason I made friends with someone and now they are one of my best friends but we aren’t serious fans of sky landers now but we still want more sky landers games we also want Pokémon games too

I agree with this, the whole “Leak” thing is so sketchy it feels like the chances of it being real are close to zero. But what I’m most annoyed by is everyone’s reactions to it, everyone is just blowing this out of the water, getting way too hyped for it, and are setting themselves up for disappointment and failure. And then when it gets proved that the “leak” is fake, they’re gonna start blaming all the people who weren’t falling for the fake leak. I’ve seen this kind of thing play out before, and it is NOT a pretty sight to see.
Well said. Skylanders has always been hd. I think having portal emulator might be better consider ttl has died and skylanders has a name for itself but the portal menu they have looks awful. If anyone has played si switch scrolling through a long list of skylanders is dreadful. I would hope they would go with something like the 3ds version of sf and tt which has a great character selector. Good job boom 👍
I doubt there would be any skylanders games without toys which is why I don't think we will be seeing a remaster/new game in like 3-6 years and even then I doubt it fully
it also sadly makes little to no sense for them to go figure-less, a large portion of their sales are from figures and I don't see them cutting that out without introducing a digital figure system where you have to buy the figures in game. and like you mentioned it seems unlikely that all 3 games will be bundled together if they're going to remaster them I see it being at least $20 each if not $40-$70
It was even more painful making the video knowing I was shattering dreams of 1000s of people, I want the leak to be real but nobody deserves to be misled
there were a multitude of holes in that redditors argument and with right now it's very unrealistic to see anything new from the series at the moment especially with how much focus is being put on crash at the moment. hopefully we do see a return or at the very least we get ports of the games at the very least but a new game is very unlikely at the moment
I think that what doesnt make sense was that the whole point was to get consumers to buy toys by marketing them as a video game, so why would they make another game based on skylanders if they arent planning to sell more toys.
If I ever have a kid, I want him to play Skylanders, experience one of the joys I had in my childhood. And if Skylanders ever does decide to come back I'll most likely get it

Not entirely sure that they’d just up and out the figures if ever Activision ordered they return to the game (or the parent company Microsoft ordered a return to Skylanders) The figures are what made it special they’d also sell more that way I don’t believe there will be a solely all digital remaster until they can be sure that they truly wish to discontinue the series as a whole (because they never officially announced it was discontinued)
Honestly It's obvious they're fake but I think in the next few years they will release a remake or new game Skylanders is probably like the most nostalgic thing ever, like more then Minecraft on the PS3
I would love Skylanders to come back but why would Activision remove the collectible aspect from the games? It would be more likely to put the Skylanders in a loot boxes, system. Plus Nintendo Star link game proves that toys for life is not profitable anymore.
it'd be nice to see skylanders return. but its an ambitious thought and i know it. and at this point i can accept the skylanders series for what it is nowadays. even without a rumor of a new remastering of the original trilogy on the way. its important to remember that not all leaks or rumors may be truthful or legitimate. but maybe it can be wise to keep up with them on the sidelines. not following or falling for them. but keeping a watchful eye if the legends reveal to be true or false. sooner or later.
I feel a lot of people believed ( including me ) is because we haven’t gotten any news for skylanders so when we saw something we were so excited about it we didn’t bother to really check if it’s real or not
Even if they ever remake the first skylanders, they really have to rework a lot on how summoning them would even work, maybe it could be like Pokémon where you have to collect them..? Just starting the game with EVERY skylander available would be jarring and maybe overwhelming. Worse case scenario they stay as faithful as possible and you pay $10 to unlock each skylander as dlc lol
My hope is that if Microsoft properly acquires activision, is that they will see the demand of skylanders, and even if it was just something to make more money, id love PC ports of each game where the figures aren't needed, kind of like Disney Infinity 3.0 Gold Edition, I sold all my Skylanders games and figures when I was younger, and have been craving the games recently, so I hope they come back sooner rather than later
Kinda of off topic but if sky landers ever became big enough again to release toys I would rather they make articulated action figures that don’t function in game. Just a cool toy to have. I would kill for a figure of the stealth elf

Honestly, I'd love a Skylanders remaster series, where it's like the first 3 or 4 games kinda like the HD remasters of the Ratchet and Clank games. But instead of having a portal to put characters on, you unlock characters in the games by progressing and doing different challenges in the levels. This would act as an incentive to both play through games in their entirety and give tons of replay value, but also doesn't alienate players who never had a huge collection of Skylanders to begin with. Hell maybe even just release an updated physical set for modern consoles that does the whole series, that way we can go to actual stores instead of having to trawl Ebay and Amazon or any other websites in order to get the right game version and also the corresponding portal. It'd be compatible with everything Skylanders had, including traps.
i didnt know it wasnt supposed to be on consoles outside of wii originally im so lucky Nintendo said no, because if not i would have never got to play them
As much as I would love a Skylanders Remastered Trilogy (I had the first four games for the Wii growing up, plus Superchargers Racing), I'm worried Activision have just straight up just stopped working on the franchise.
i’m secretly hoping for like a spyro remake style game for skylanders like the game plays pretty much the same but with updated graphics, character models and animations, that kinda stuff
It is a good idea though. Make it f2p, put in online mode so you can play with friends wherever. Sell the characters as DLC. (sadly MTX is the only way I see this thing surviving as a multiplayer game)
I personally believe if they were ever to come back, they’d try to release the games all in one, rather than a few What leads me to this? There’s still a chance they’ve just been working on this on the back burner ever since imaginators was the last one to come out 7 years ago now
I like the idea of streamlining things but the figures are what makes Skylanders stand out. It's like making a pokemon game where you don't CATCH pokemon and can just summon whichever one you want. It just wouldn't be pokemon at that point.
Ok the whole thing about xpec over the “Definitive” version isn’t really a super strong claim that it’s fake (I do think it’s fake btw) because games like persona 3 have been remastered with their inferior versions. And a key reason for this is maybe a ease of access to the files or models allowing for easier game development. Of course this means the devs would be lazy (like persona 3 devs) and be using old models instead of good revamped models
Good thing I saw this because I would've put a lot of hope into this, but there is still always a possibility of it coming in 2023 or coming as early of 2026, or even later because people still love the game, and the creators of it probably still love it too as much as us. But if they were removing figures from the game (Whenever they make the game it would probably be like what Boom said 2026 because most people would be adults by then), I hope it's like an unlocking system, were if you make a new game, you don't have them unlocked already when you make a new game, and maybe holiday skins because we do have holiday skinned Skylanders (which would be separate characters from the main one like it is now), it would just seem cool.
I've seen a similar video in German already but I have to say I am glad to watch this one, because here is more evidence against the leak, in the German version there was only told that the post itself seems to be fake because it is marked fake.
