I know some people would argue that the new episodes diminish the tragedy of Donna's initial arc, but tbh it's just not an issue for me. I'm glad that after all these years, Donna has gotten the ending she always deserved, while also getting to have her best friend back in her life. She and the Doctor were so good for each other. I found it very satisfying finally getting some real closure for them.
I do have that issue with 12 getting his memories of clara back, but the huuuge time span difference is what makes it for me. we had time to "grieve" as it were, so it makes it feel like righting a wrong instead of a cop out
It's the same to me as Gandalf coming back in Two Towers. They were both still "killed off" in a way, but they came back for the conclusion of their stories
When you can't call in sick in order to binge their entire era... Kudos to the people who put this together; it feels a little like sacrilege but it's such a generous selection, with context so the casual viewer can follow what's happening. Thanks for knowing sometimes we just want to see THEM.
I love how even tho you can't hear them mouthing the words you can still hear their voices in your head especially when he mouths "what are you doing here" "whaat" and when Donna mouths "doctor"
@@occono3543 Here's a rough one from me just looking at the video: "Donna?" *"Doctor!"* "Wh... What? What?" *"Oh... my!... God!"* "How?" *"It's me!"* "Yeah, I can see that." *"Oh, this is brilliant!"* "Wh... What the hell are you doing over there?" *"I was looking for YOU!"* "...What for?" *"I read it... on the internet. [...] So weird. [...] Crept along... Heard them talking. You! 'Cause they-"*
I love this Duo growing up, as their friendship and comedy always engaged me along with the wonderful episodes they’re in. Which made it all the better for me when they returned in the 60th anniversary specials and not losing their charm from those earlier years.
1:56:00 What I loved most about Wild Blue Yonder is the deep talks Donna and the Doctor had with each other (or rather unfortunately, with their clones). Because I've always wondered if Donna reached the deepest parts of the Doctor's mind during the meta-crisis. And apparently, she did! She just knew better than to bring it up because they were such painful memories for him. I guess the Doctor picked up on that too because he immediately asked who was in front of him.
The only main bits that I wish was in this video is the DoctorDonna in Journey's end defeating the Daleks and Davros and their current final scene in the garden having food in The Giggle.
Honestly out of all the new who companion stories, Donnas is definitely my favourite. No romance, just two people having fun and showing the doctor that having a friend is all he needs. And my god the emotion is jacked up to 11. The doctor realising that he has to make Vesuvius erupt to keep history normal is hard decision to make. Certainly would not want to be in that situation. However what I will say is that the multi doctor story of River Song is one of the best stories written. Such a sad story.
Around 1:00:00 there is that bit with Dr Moon - I'd never noticed before that there's a bit of Doctor-y music in that scene. And wasn't there some theory (or maybe something Steven Moffat said) about Dr Moon being the 45th incarnation of the Doctor? Knowing that little tidbit reframes that scene a bit.
Interesting! And I think it's music from the 11th Doctor's run. Maybe Moffat asked Murray Gold to write music for a future Doctor for this scene and liked it so much that it became music for 11 in the next series. Or maybe it's in multiple episodes and I just never noticed.
Actually I had a thought.. so when river is uploaded to the library which version if the doctor would she b with? 10 cause that's the doctor that saved everyone from the library and they know what he looks like, 11 cause we saw her on screen most with river or 12 cause they spent 24 years together on darillium?
20:12 This is as far as my lip reading goes… 🧑: Donna!? 👩: DOCTOR! 🧑: Wha- wha- What!? 👩: OH. MY. GOSH! 🧑: HOW? 👩: It’s me! 🧑: I can see that! 👩: Oh, this is brilliant! 🧑: Wha- What the hell are you doing there!? 👩: I was looking for you! 🧑: What for!? 👩: I was reading on this case... Walked on them talking. And you- 👩🍼: Are we interrupting you? 🧑: Run! They were brilliantly funny in this scene! And I love how the Nanny was just watching them 🤣
I'll probably rewatch the specials right before the new series comes in May. Mainly been taking a break from Who since Christmas and watching other things. Haven't seen the specials again since they aired. But I'll definitely be watching the new series.
If you want to know or are wondering or just don't know in general the specials and the future stuff will be on disney+ for pepole outside the uk and in the uk bbc iplayer along with the other stuff.
@@Acknowledgerofdoctorwho It's fine, you're alright. I'd been watching Who content on BBC iPlayer while getting hyped for the 60th specials. And since the Christmas special, I've just been taking a break from Who til the next series comes in May. So I'll probably rewatch the specials on iPlayer nearer the time.
do you really think every episode with the doctor and donna can fit in less than 3 hours??? when there were literally three 1 hour specials with them two last year???
@Robert-tl2vg If we are going to be on the topic of grammar and such, let me just say: -tl2vg- This is not correct spelling or grammar? I'm not even sure that is a known language. Regards
According to an "interview" his wife did with him, he was wearing faux sideburns for the mini scene where he accidentally helped invent the daleks with the plunger.
@@Robert-tl2vg you didn’t trigger me lol, I just find it kind of funny and sad that you’re sifting through several comments on RU-vid of all places to correct everybody, when RU-vid comments are always a mess anyway. Just letting you know it’s kind of a waste of time. I also don’t think you know what triggered actually means. It’s become such a buzzword that it’s lost its actual meaning.
I hear they ruined Dr Who with episode one of the original series. (sarcastic) Toxic “fans” will be toxic. If the story bothers you so much perhaps move on.
