I don't know who reviews this page but I watched a tonne of Noah's races and he tends to sit in the blocks. We can put some of the fault on ankle stiffness in this session but what Ralph pulled him on was positioning. I may be old school but if he adjusts his position and loads himself over the line, gravity will assist his start. When you review the session check the positioning Ralph puts him in when he jokes about being off the pads, put him back in that position and get him to hold, adjusting his weight back until he feels the pads. Get Ralph back in and I bet you will see a difference. I am very excited about Noah as an athlete and what we will see in the near future. Stay blessed and thank you to the team for being so open.

Noah - Awesome technical starts video! The details are what newbies need to become competitively fast by applying their God-given talents while minimizing their physical limitations. Thanks for sharing the secret sauces in your training regimen that make a real difference in your sprinting results. It's clear from your videos that details matter as there seems to be the tiniest of variances between you and your fellow elite sprinters. You've demonstrated here that making what appears to be an insignificant change in a chain or series of motions clearly can BE the DIFFERENCE between WINNING and not. Kudos!!!

Noah some of your videos,r so inspiring . Noah I think your start can improve, over the years , i saw some terrible starter, worst than yours, and they work on it, and gradually they start improve, and eventually they start to leaved , the blocks whit the best starters, so I know your start, can improve alot, when it come together u will be a force to reckon with, in the 100m., and Usain bolt 200m world record, will be under serious. threat.

The problem is, if you're just repeating the same full power movement over and over again, your nervous system will basically get 'bored', shut down and get gradually worse. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had you altered the distance between feet, switched your front and back feet around, taken the back block away completely, done some blockless starts with arms behind your back (or up in the air), and then gone back to your normal block set up to see what would have happened. However, ultimately you're right Noah, it's not about who gets to 30m first, it's about who gets in the best mechanical position to get to 60m first (or 120m in the 200), whilst still relaxed and maintaining that top speed.

From a research’s prospective, this video is a valuable lesson about the bridge between the field and the lab. Honestly, Ralph’s intervention in the blocks is quite complicated to understand. Though, the perspective he proposed relies on the fact that blocks are not necessarily a tool to push in the direction of the track but more of a standpoint for hip direction. Technically, ankle stiffness comes from biomechanical readiness and position of the hip. Consequently, your race is oriented form your start position. You did a great job of trying to understand your feeling throughout your adjustments. Keep on the good work 🙌🏾 This video was much appreciated. - Phil

Outstanding video! Getting a closer look into the science and the art of world class sprinting is a truly massive missing link for T&F. Viewers get this type of in depth analysis in all the major American sports. Track definitely needs this. Connecting you to the earth, aka "grounding", is quite real and recently studied/measured with instruments. The body is a magnificent electric driven machine. So is the Earth, not coincidentally.
