The PREDICT studies are run by a team of researchers including Tim Spector and Sarah Berry, forming the world’s largest personalized nutrition study. Leveraging a wide array of measurements including postprandial glycemic and lipid responses, time of day, and the microbiome, along with machine learning enables ZOE to predict how individuals will respond to foods.

The dietary guidelines in the USA are strongly influenced by the politics or the people who create them and the influence put upon those people by the food industry. Basically, the fast food and highly processed food industry forces national guidelines that are NOT driven by science, but instead by profitability.

Excellent interview and such insight shared. Science at its best making rapid inroads into everyday life for huge numbers of people. So looking forward to having the opportunity to be part of this ongoing research.

Great interview. Dr.Berry with her expertise in post prandial metabolism would seem to be the exact expert you'd like to ask about intermittent fasting. If the metabolic flux she is talking about increases risk of CVD, etc. then doing something like a 18-6 protocol, if blood glucose goes back to baseline after 2 hours, and triglycerides go back to baseline after 8 hours, then your blood would be "at baseline" (with presumably the lowest risk for these diseases) for 24-6-8=10 hours per day. It seems like she would be a strong proponent of this kind of dietary pattern. But I haven't heard her ever talk about it.
